Up for auction is a beautiful example of an all original and unmolested 1969 GMC Custom 3/4 ton Long bed
This is an all original truck that is 99% rust free (silver dollar size rust spot on passenger cab corner and nickel size on passenger door, that's it! Rust isn't all the way through). This is an original California truck that came out of long beach, ca. I am the third owner on the truck. Originally it had a camper shell that the original owner use to tow around and the tailgate was off of it for some time, you can tell, the tailgate is one of the nicest original ones I've ever seen (No damage and all original). This is an original 396 Big Block Matching Numbers truck with 121,000 original miles, power steering, power brakes, Air Conditioning, Tachometer, heavy duty springs, original tinted glass, triple gas tanks (one behind seat and dual saddle tanks on each side, all of them work and I have all the keys for each of them... The body on this truck is absolutely beautiful, STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW and all original sheet metal. The AC was working when I got the truck but about 2 months ago one of the lever arms on the control box broke so I took it apart and bough a replacement one, but haven't gotten around to putting it back together (I HAVE all the original parts and new parts to fix it). This truck is reliable to drive anywhere in the United States, I wouldn't hesitate. It has an electronic ignition and a Edelbrock carb, starts right up every single time. Dual mufflers, has a great rumble to it and runs strong and like new. I put a pioneer CD player in the unit and pioneer speakers in the doors, usually I don't do this but this is a perfect everyday driver so it compliments the truck perfectly. The inside of this truck is like new! The interior is all original, original floor mat, interior, tachometer, steering wheel, padded dash... the second owner didn't like that the original vynl seats go hot in the summer so he replaced just the inserts with very nice cloth material, it looks great, the rest of the interior is original and in great shape. Everything on the truck works. I tinted the windows so it stays nice and cool inside the cab even on the hottest of days. It came originally with 16.5 inch rims but those tires aren't the easiest to come by so I put some stock 16" rims on it, they are like new powder coated black, also comes with a spare tire with a brand new tire on it. Bed is in great shape, has normal wear scrapes but no big dents at all. The body on this truck in general doesn't have any dents at all, the body is beautiful and the body lines up perfect and tight. The hub caps on this truck are in amazing original condition, very very nice caps. Ready to drive anywhere and tow anything... The undercarriage is dry and solid I took a couple of pictures showing how solid and dry it is, they aren't the best pictures but underneath of this truck is solid and nice.
The grill on the driver side does have a little ding in it, but it doesn't really take away from the appearance. you can hardly notice it in the picture. other than that there really isn't anything wrong with the truck. The center air duct was removed but I have a brand new one as well for that.
If you are looking for an all original truck, in great solid condition, that's ready to drive anywhere and looks amazing, this is it!

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner
Sat, 24 Aug 2013For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
Since 2010, Chevy Volt has outsold Nissan Leaf by just two units
Tue, Mar 3 2015The first two plug-in vehicles from major automakers in the US were the Chevy Volt and the Nissan Leaf. Ever since they went on sale to much fanfare in late 2010, we've been tracking the monthly sales with great interest (and, of course, other green vehicle sales as well). After a big initial lead by the Volt – the Volt outsold the Leaf 23,461 to 9,819 in 2012 – the Leaf has been chugging along and outsold the Volt every month since November 2013. We knew that the cumulative totals would soon tip in favor of the Leaf, but for at least one more month, the Volt is going to be able to say its the most popular plug-in vehicle in the US. Overall, for all officially reported sales of the Leaf and the Volt, things are almost exactly tied. Since the vehicles went on sale in the end of 2010 until the end of February 2015, the Volt has sold 74,592 units and the Leaf has sold ... drumroll please ... 74,590 units. For February, Leaf sales totaled 1,198 units, a 17-percent drop from the 1,425 Leafs sold last February. Brendan Jones, Nissan's director of Electric Vehicle Sales and Infrastructure, said in a statement that, "Tough winter weather in several key markets held EV sales back in February. As we head into spring, we look forward to seeing more dealership traffic so shoppers can experience firsthand the benefits of the all-electric Nissan Leaf." Of course, it was cold in the US last February, too, but we're sure that the nasty weather did indeed play a role last month. Things were even worse for the Chevy Volt, which dropped to just 693 copies sold, down 47 percent from the 1,210 sold last year. That's just barely enough for Chevy to keep talking about its plug-in sales leadership, but we expect the message to change once the March numbers come out next month. Related Video:
Chevy teases next-gen Volt at fan event in LA
Thu, Nov 20 2014Barely two months before its planned debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, Chevrolet has released yet another batch of teaser images of its second-generation Volt. Unlike the first image, though, which just showed the car's rear badge, there's a lot more to this quartet of shots. The first three images show off the nose of the next-gen model and come from a fan event in Los Angeles. What we can see is a sleeker front end, with an evolution of the silver grille inserts previously seen on the original Volt and Spark EV. Gone is the current car's split upper grille, in favor of a more conventional arrangement. The sharper, more angular headlights are also an evolution of the lamps seen on the current Volt. Chevrolet also took the opportunity to announce a new location-based charging system that uses GPS to adjust the vehicle's charge settings, including the charge level, while also announcing that the next-gen car will feature more intuitive charge indicators that will be better able to inform owners of their car's charging level. The tech will mean that the Volt 'knows' when it is parked at home, and can thus automatically optimize charging for off-peak times, and so on. Take a look at the teaser images at the top of the page, and then head below for Chevy's press release announcing the new features. Next-Gen Chevy Volt Offers More User-Friendly Charging 2014-11-20 GPS makes charging more convenient Portable charger is easier to access Intuitive visual cues show charge status DETROIT – If there's one thing Chevrolet Volt owners love about their cars, it's being able to recharge the battery easily. Evidence of that is a U.S. Department of Energy study that shows more than 80 percent of all trips by Volt owners did not use the range extender. Chevrolet has made the charging system in the next-generation Volt even easier for customers to recharge the battery – and to check the charge status. The next-generation Volt debuts in January at the North American International Auto Show. "Chevrolet used the real-world experiences of today's Volt owners to make the charging process simpler and more convenient in the next-generation Volt," said Andrew Farah, chief engineer for the Volt.
