1969 Chevrolet C10 Pickup Base 5.7l on 2040-cars
Liberty, Missouri, United States
See pics. Third generation pickup (father-in-law to brother-in-law to me) has a remanufactured 350 with about 20,000 miles, Edlebrock carb and intake, headers and many newer parts. Finally decided that a full restoration isn't going to happen and ready to get her out of the barn. Newer tires and brakes. Truck has been in the barn for 18 months but starts and runs. Has a wood bed with a plate steel overlay and all the usual rust.
Small reserve because I'm not giving her away. I'll accept Paypal or cash (but not a check from your secretary accidentally made out for more than the sale amount) i.e. no scammers. 350 V8, three speed manual, 2 wheel drive. NO air. Standard dash (no tach). Clear Missouri title in hand. The good: before we placed her in the barn she passed the Missouri inspection each year and was driven on a routine basis. The bad: been sitting for 18 months. Runs but should be checked out before being driven too far. On Jan-11-14 at 20:36:49 PST, seller added the following information: Forgot to tell you this is a long bed and obviously a fleetside. Here's a list of parts we replaced since aquiring it from the brother-in-law: Remaufactured 350 (but numbers are correct for 1969) all front suspension ball joints front control rods and bushings heater core clutch and throwout bearing brakes wheel cylindars blower motor Eldebrock 4 barrel carb (650 I think) Headers (cheap ones - sounds like one bank has rusted out) dual exhaust shocks master brake cylinder truck floor shifter (was three on the tree) a Chevy AM/FM cassette radio (not period correct but from the late 70s) I plan to get out into the barn tomorrow and take a bunch more pics. On Jan-13-14 at 14:11:19 PST, seller added the following information: Added a bunch of pictures taken today in the barn. Someone asked me how long ago the cab corners and bed arches were replaced - Joe thinks it was about 25 years ago when he got the truck from grandpa. |

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee teases return with a Countach
Fri, May 29 2015Unless you have an intense aversion to Jerry Seinfeld, it's hard not to find something to like about his show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. After all, the series combines funny people telling often hilarious stories while riding in ridiculously cool vehicles. The trailer for the sixth season is now online, and based on this tease, this definitely looks worth watching no matter what part of the videos interest you. Of course, it's the automotive portion that really grabs us, and Seinfeld has quite a fleet to showcase for season six. The trailer shows off a Lamborghini Countach, a '57 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible, a classic Volkswagen Beetle in the green and white German Polizei livery, a Morgan, an Aston Martin DB5, and a Ferrari 308. On the more humorous side of things, the guest list at least includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jim Carrey, Steve Harvey, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher and upcoming host of The Daily Show Trevor Noah. Season six of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee premieres on Crackle on Wednesday, June 3, at 11:30 PM ET.
Opel pulls out of Russia, GM to focus on Cadillac, 'iconic' Chevys
Wed, Mar 18 2015General Motors is going to realign its priorities in the struggling Russian marketplace, withdrawing its Opel brand and pulling out mainstream Chevrolet models. Instead, the General will take aim at Russia's well-established oligarchy, pushing Cadillac as well as "iconic" Chevrolet models, like the Corvette, Camaro and Tahoe. "This change in our business model in Russia is part of our global strategy to ensure long-term sustainability in markets where we operate," GM president Dan Ammann said in a statement. "This decision avoids significant investment into a market that has very challenging long-term prospects." Russian customers interested in an Opel or mainstream Chevys like the Spark, Aveo (the US market Sonic), Cobalt (shown above), Cruze, Orlando and the like have until December to snap up a car before the brands are pulled. "We do not have the appropriate localization level for important vehicles built in Russia and the market environment does not justify a major investment to further localize." Opel Group CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann said. GM will continue to offer service to customers in Russia. "We can assure our customers that we will continue to provide warranty, parts and services for their Chevrolet and Opel vehicles," Neumann said. Beyond realigning its brands in Russia, GM also announced that it would also be idling the company's factory in the country's second-largest city, St. Petersburg. This is the second time the St. Petersburg factory has been in the news – GM announced that it'd be idled for roughly two months back in February. Scroll down for the official press release from GM. GM to Change Business Model in Russia 2015-03-18 Focus on Cadillac and iconic Chevrolet vehicles Wind down Opel brand and sale of mainstream Chevrolet cars Idle GM Auto manufacturing facility in St. Petersburg Part of GM's strategy to ensure long-term sustainability in global markets DETROIT – General Motors today announced plans to change its business model in Russia. GM will focus on the premium segment of the Russian market with Cadillac and U.S.-built iconic Chevrolet products such as the Corvette, Camaro and Tahoe. The Chevrolet brand will minimize its presence in Russia and the Opel brand will leave the market by December 2015. "This change in our business model in Russia is part of our global strategy to ensure long-term sustainability in markets where we operate," said GM President Dan Ammann.
