1968 Chevy Fleetside Swb Show Truck Custom Restored 100% on 2040-cars
Florence, Alabama, United States
CLASSIC SHOW TRUCK FOR SALE 1968 Chevy C-10 Fleetside SWB
Completely restored; ground up, frame-off, full rotisserie with all new parts. Only 1,100 miles. Frame and cab are matching numbers. Like most true gear-head projects this car started out to be a “dail driver”. Haha As usually happens with us perfectionists, every time I replaced a old part with a new one I kept finding it made all the others look bad. So what do you do...well if you are really picky you replace them all and end up with a show truck that is driveable on a daily basis.
These 1967-1968 Chevy C-10 shortbed trucks are HOT and very collectible. This one is the best of the best, and it is totally done and ready to start winning trophies or simply being admired at your local cruise-in. Has the highly sought-after small back window for that rare old-school look.
Fully professionally rebuilt 305 Chevy (.30 over) bored, balanced, blueprinted, decked, port-matched, roller rockers, GM roller cam. Built for durability and mpg, not racing...but with 3.73 rear end gears it'll move. Probably puts out 275-300 hp on pump gas getting over 20 mpg with its' AOD trans. Has Edelbrock Performer intake and matching 600 cfm electric choke carb with all Lokar cable/kickdown/selector cables etc. Arp bolts and all new complete custom wiring. Noisy gear drive and Flomasters with 3” stainless exhaust tips give it a truly great sound.
Trans: Fully rebuilt Corvette 700R4 overdrive trans with shift kit.
New radiator, 3 HP mini-starter, ceramic coated headers, stainless cut-outs for exhaust. Front power disc brakes with 2.5” dropped spindles and 3” lower front coil; rear has 4” dropped coil...all new. Entire suspension and steering is completely new. Gas tank moved from inside tank to between cab rails for safety (21 gal)...filler concealed in bed of truck for security/looks.
Frame was stripped to bare metal (as was the entire truck) and then the frame was primed and painted with numerous coats Eastwood's Ceramic frame paint. Has beautifl black Haartz canvas premium flush-fit Craftec tonneau.
Bed is sprayed color-matched heavy-duty rubberized Raptor protective covering so it can haul items to car shows without marring up a wood floor. Has a fire extinguisher and full-sized spare tire and jack mounted in bed.
Has all new Classic Industries Velocity ($800) gauges in new dash pod and pad. Note: The colorbar under thye dash does not go with the sale.
Over $10,000 in body and paint using only the best PPG paint and clear. Custom Metallic Pearl Red (reddish metallic maroon) paint was $800 gallon alone...and all PPG primers, sealers and clear were the best PPG available. Best Goodmark front quarteres, doors, cab corners and rockers plus new hood (costing over $2,200 for all parts prior to “fitting” by an expert fabricator) was smoothed to perfection...gaps are great. Tons of blocksanding went into paint prep and follow-up color-sanding. Firewall is smoothed.
BMW 5 series Antracite leather buckets, center and overhead consoles. All new carpeting, usb stereo with power amp, and power recessed antenna. Power steering and front power disc brakes all totally new. $2000 invested in Vintage Air Sure-Fit A/C, heat and defrost (blows cold). New dash pad, weatherstripping, window fuzzies and all new glass. Lots and lots of Dynamat throughout so the truck is super insulated and quiet with great audio sound clarity.
Chromed 16” American Racing IROC rims and new 255/65/16 General Grabber Ultra High Performance tires. All new complete front suspension with HD sway bar...corners like it is on rails. Of course, all rear brakes/shocks are new. Runs/drives awesome. Was always a Southern truck. Front and rear bumpers were brand new... then I had them triple chromed show plated because I wasn't crazy about the cheezy chroming on the new bumpers I had bought. They now look great.
All headlight/tailight receptacles are new with all new nuts/bolts/screws. Has glass blue dots for olod school look. My wife says I have OCD. lmao
This truck gathers a crowd wherever it goes...and tons of “thumbs ups” while getting there.
No trades...only reluctantly selling to buy a friend's muscle car that I have been wanting for a while. Please NO Brokers...don't need help selling.
Hagerty places value at $45,000 which I feel is too high-although you could easily put that into one this nice. A few of similar apparent quality on eBay are listed for $33,000 to $40,000. You can't build it this well for my selling price-plus it could take years like mine did. Keep in mind it is a frame-off, nut and bolt restoration with most bolts replaced with all new GM bolts or stainless steel button head bolts. Grade 8 was used where applicable. Attention to detail is everywhere you look.
Has a truck cover that is included.
I invite personal inspections or can work with a local appraisor that you pay for. The truck looks much better in person as I am not much of a photographer. Have all documentation on the rebuilds.
Please DO NOT bid if you haven't got the money in hand, have to clear it with the wife first or are really just playing around here on eBay. Check my feedback...I have a perfect 100% rating.
There is a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit due within 24 hours of your having won the bid. Remember...this is a legal and binding contract.
Truck is sold As-Is, Where-Is without warranty. Should you have any questions please call me at 256/443.8846 and I will do my best to answer them. Can also provide names and contact numbers of fabricators and mechanics that have worked on this great show truck and that are familiar with the truck's condition.
Truck is located in Florence, AL (2 hours SW of Nashville or 2.5 hours NW of Birmingham...or fly into Huntsville, AL and drive your new baby home. I am only 1 hour West of Huntsville (NW Alabama).
Truck will not be released until all funds have cleared my local bank via cash or wire transfer. Can work with your auto shipper regarding scheduling...shipping costs will be 100% your responsibility. I can store the truck indoors for 10 days after the sale if needed.
I will not divulge the reserve (kinda destroys the whole auction concept), but it's a steal at the reserve price. So bid to own this classic beauty.

This one is the best of the best, and it is totally done and ready to start winning trophies or simply being admired at your local cruise-in. Next Chevrolet Malibu to have 'groundbreaking,' 'passionate' design
Mon, Dec 29 2014In our First Drive of the Chevrolet Malibu after its redesign in 2013 we wrote, "Chevy has quickly worked up a host of changes for its ever-important midsize sedan, and will be launching this 'there, we fixed it' 2014 Malibu like it's an all-new product." Still, no one cared. The Malibu has been mentioned in eight posts this year, all but two of them dealt with recalls, and one of those two was about a 2011 Malibu university science project. It came up in precisely zero posts from November 2013 to March 2014. That's why, according to a report in Automotive News, Chevrolet honchos are "hustling" to have a new Malibu ready in a year. Mark Reuss, General Motors' head of global product development, said it will have "groundbreaking design" and "groundbreaking technology," and asked investors who were showed a picture of it, "When is the last time you saw a [midsize] car this distinctive and this dramatic from General Motors?" Doubling down on the bullishness, Reuss said, "We've got our act together here on the midsize-car segment." Then, throwing every last chip on the pile, global design head Ed Welburn said the next Malibu's design will "make a significant statement" with "a very passionate design." Based on the number of comments Malibu posts get, we figure a fair few number of you would love for this to be the case; yet this is a lot of braggadocio to slather on a car that probably hasn't made "a significant statement" since Elton John had a number one record with Honky Chateau. That was 1972, if you're trying to remember. No matter the looks, the AN report says the new 'Bu will make a profit statement, selling for more money while costing less to produce. Alongside the Cruze, GM figures the pair will bring in an extra $800 million in variable profit in 2016. Which, in case it ends up being another 'butterface,' isn't bad for a silver lining. Want a V8 on the cheap? Buy a work truck
Thu, Aug 3 2017In case you didn't notice, V8 cars have gotten pretty expensive. If you want a modern muscle car like the Dodge Challenger R/T, Ford Mustang GT, or Chevy Camaro SS, you'll need between $34,000 and $38,000 for a stripped out example of one. The cheapest of those is the Challenger, and the priciest is the Camaro. These are also the cheapest V8 cars the companies offer. But if you absolutely have to have a V8 for less, there is an option, work trucks. As it turns out, all of the Big Three offer their most basic work trucks with V8s. And because they're so basic, they're pretty affordable, especially when sticking with the standard two-wheel drive. A Ram 1500 Tradesman with a V8 can be had for as little as $29,840, which is a little more than $4,000 less than a Challenger R/T. For a bit more at $30,275, you can have a Chevy Silverado W/T, almost $8,000 less than a Camaro SS. The most expensive is the V8 Ford F-150 starts at a starting price of $30,670, which is a bit over $5,000 less than the Mustang. Of course you'll be in an ultra bare bones vehicle with few comforts, and the price will go up if you add stuff, but we're bargain hunting here, and sacrifices are sometimes necessary. Besides, what you lose in comfort, you gain in loads of cargo space and towing (try to look at the bright side). Also, as a side note, all three trucks are available with optional electronic locking rear differentials. At the discounted price of these trucks, you still get a heaping helping of power. The most potent of the trio is the Ram 1500 Tradesman with 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque generated by a 5.7-liter V8. Compared with the Challenger R/T, the Ram is up by 20 horsepower and they're tied for torque. The value proposition is even more stark between the two vehicles when looking at the price per horsepower. Each pony in the Ram costs $75.54, while the Challenger charges you $90.91. The Challenger is also more expensive per horsepower than its close competitors. The F-150's 5.0-liter V8 is just barely behind the Ram with 395 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. That's still more power than the Challenger, and it matches the torque of the 2017 Mustang GT. On the down side, it still would be down 20 horsepower on that same 2017 Mustang, and it's behind by 60 horsepower and 20 pound-feet on the new 2018 Mustang GT. The F-150 also just edges out the Mustang in the dollar per horsepower measure.
