CHECK OUT THE PICTURES OF THE ENGINE AND INTERIOR BEFORE YOU MOVE ON.

1966 Chevy Shortbed Stepside Custom Cab Trim. New engine and transmission and interior. California truck with Black plates. NO RESERVE.

Let me get your attention first with the details and then follow up with the rest.

This is a desirable, stock, very solid California stepside shortbed with Custom Cab trim. Rebuilt 350, 30 over bore, moderate cam, Holley carb, MSD ignition, Chrome alternator and 12 month warranty. Aluminum radiator. New dual exhaust. Rebuilt 3 speed auto trans with warranty. Rebuilt balanced driveshaft with U joints. New brake master and wheel cylinders and shoes. New upholstered stock bench seat with tweed insert. New molded stock carpet. New windshield and seal. New door seals. New bed wood and bed strips. NOS vintage AM/FM Cassette radio and speakers.

I am done spending money on this truck and it is being sold. This was to be the nice vintage truck I always wanted with great patina to drive every day. We looked a long time to find one that was not rotted out. I even put my fathers shop logo on the door from when I was a kid in Fullerton California. I wildly underestimated the costs to restore and refit the truck and ran out of funds before I could finish with air conditioning, wide tires and lowering springs. With over $7K into it I am not done yet but need to cash out. It has a vintage patina that took 45 years to create. No intention of ever painting it. I posted a lot of body pictures to show how solid the cab, fender tips and wheel wells are. It is Shortbed Custom cab so it has the extra trim and the full gauges on the dash. All the expensive and hard work has been done. It runs very quick and stops. All the lights, wipers etc work. I replaced the gas sender and had the tank flushed and cleaned and the gas gauge worked. Then it stopped working. It reads when the key is off but swings to zero when the key is on. Strange?? So not working correctly. New windshield and seal and door seals. The wood had issues like so many old trucks so new wood and bed strips were installed.

As listed above, we rebuilt most all the running gear. The engine and trans have warranties at a local shop in Temecula California. The interior is comfortable, quiet and has a new car smell. Dual exhaust has a very nice rumble but the tone is not too loud. I found an NOS stereo still in the box from the 70's and it sounds great with new speakers. Break out your Beach Boys and Eagles cassettes.

The truck runs great and can be driven anywhere. But it is old so sold as-is please for this kind of money. The warranties transfer over for the engine and trans but is a local shop. So please no regrets or complaints. Do not overbid to secure the win, and then attempt to kick the tires when you get here. I have a 100% feedback for selling fair and leave room for the buyer to drive the truck, work on it, and still make money later. I do not want any issues. The terms are $500 paypal or cash deposit in 24 hours and balance within 3 days by cash or bank check express mail. I can store the truck here for 30 days or more while you get transportation. Just pay on time. We move on to back-up buyers if you miss the terms. Sorry, but the idea is to sell the truck for money and to move on. I will not wait weeks for the funds before moving on to the next high bidder.

Selling the truck local for $8.5K. Always interested in hearing what the truck is worth to you.

Is this '47 Chevrolet a rat rod or a sports car?

Sun, May 22 2016

These days there are plenty of vehicles that blur the conventional automotive class structures. For instance, was the Honda Crosstour a wagon or an SUV? And what exactly was the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet? Regardless, those line-blurring cars (or trucks) are out there, and though this one didn't roll off a production line, it's still quite the automotive head-scratcher. Hailing from Missouri, this epic creation is one part mad science experiment, one part 1947 Chevrolet pickup, and one part '95 Mercury Cougar. Add it all up and you get an awesome truck-sports-car hybrid, complete with an outrageous wing and a V8 to boot. And interestingly enough, it's up for sale . RELATED: Check out this Wild-Styled Lamborghini Rat Rod So how does it all come together? According to the listing, the Chevrolet truck cab (which had previously been chopped) was sanded down to bare metal and given a thorough shellacking of clear coat. It was then melded together with the front end of a 1995 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck, and set low to the ground on Bilstein suspension drop spindles. Stance achieved. But instead of fielding an engine from either of those pickups, it pulls its heart from a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV—a big 5.3-liter V8 heart, that is. It comes backed-up to a GM Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Towards the rear however is where things get really interesting. A Copper Pearl coated tube frame chassis both attaches the rear independent suspension (a la Mercury Cougar) to the racy spoiler, as well as secures the rat rod's rear-mounted radiator, fan, and fuel tank. I'm not quite sure why, but it just looks glorious. RELATED: Reports Say Mid-Engine Corvette Will Arrive in 2018 Inside the vintage cab, the Chevrolet furthers its racing proclivities (it's said to have won burnout and auto-cross events) with a pair of harnessed racing seats, a drift brake, a detachable steering wheel, and a tachometer with oil and temperature gauges, but oddly no speedometer. The shifter is a crescent wrench. And its shift boot? That's a Crown Royal Purple bag. All in all, this grin-worthy Frankenstein creation tallies up bits and pieces from four different vehicles (five if you include the Camaro wheels), which make it truly a mash-up of epic proportions. Internet, what do you think? Related Video: This article by Zach Doell originally appeared on Boldride. Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.

Body shop manager stole over $500,000 worth of government trucks and parts

Fri, Jan 27 2017

The US Department of Justice announced yesterday that the manager of a collision and restoration business in Virginia admitted he helped misappropriate and sell vehicles and parts from the State Department. Specifically, he sold 12 Chevrolet Suburbans, a Hummer, and $7,500 worth of tires and wheels. He pled guilty to charges to commit theft of government property and wire fraud. He will likely see 18 to 20 months in prison, a fine of $4,000 to $40,000, and has already agreed to pay restitution of $416,020 and asset forfeiture of the same amount. According to the Department of Justice, the body shop manager, James Ratcliffe, worked with the owner of the business and a State Department official, both unnamed, to obtain the property. It started with the wheels and tires, which were delivered and sold on two occasions, one in 2011 and another in 2012. The trucks came later, and were sold throughout 2011 and 2013. Ratcliffe and the shop owner kept most of the profits, and shared some of the leftovers with the government official. In addition to the vehicles that were sold, the government official also gave Ratcliffe a pair of Suburbans for his own personal use. The Department of Justice estimated the total value of the SUVs at $96,400. In total, the group misappropriated $512,420 worth of property. Related Video:
