See it in action!
Looking for vintage, super cool and something no one else has? Offered for sale is a 1965 Chevy C-10 Fleetside LWB. V-8, 3-speed, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning with an original Pullman Camper. For Sale locally, so I reserve the right to end this auction early. This truck came from a collection in Oregon that was mainly ford vehicles with this chevy as an exception. The collection was bought by someone in Florida. He kept most of the fords and sold me the chevy. The truck was built in the Fremont California plant and what information I was able to track was that it was titled in California, Washington and Oregon. The odometer is showing 36k. I found a log book with entries in the high 90?s, from not all that long ago, so that would put it at 136k miles. I was told it had two owners before the collector bought it. This truck has a very unique camper built by Downey Sheet Metal Shop (California). The company made these campers in the 50?s and 60?s. I was told this camper has been with this truck since new. It has a 1964 serial number, on the camper, so that coincides. The camper is intact and everything works. It has the original canvas that is in excellent condition. The (double) roof slides back for shade and weather protection and none to three panels can be easily added. It does not have the original mattress or curtains as they all hit the dumpster immediately after I got it home. I ordered a new mattress and material and the bride made a mattress cover, pillow cover, sheet and matching curtains. The only thing else we did to the camper was makeup and replace the missing trim around the bed compartment doors and replace the shore power connection. The truck ran and drove great and solid ? tight and no rattles. It has a newer GM target (crate) 350 engine but had no other toys so we added the ps, pb and a/c here at our shop in Kissimmee. The a/c also incorporates a heater and defroster. The truck had original upholstery that was still all there but cracked in places so we reupholstered the seat. It has two additional fuel tanks mounted under the bed with a switching valve next to the driver. This was a repaint and it looks good. I had to spot in a couple places where it was ?keyed? on the left door and quarter. The outside mirrors were rusted and replaced. The only thing that does not work is the original radio. I replaced the speaker but the radio just crackles. I haven?t done anything with this as I assume a new owner will want something different. I have a local shop here that can repair the radio if you want original. This thing runs, steers, stops, and drives great. You will not be disappointed ? and it attracts a lot of attention. I have used this twice at dirt bike races in Florida, in the summer, and slept in the camper without needing any more than the side and back windows opened ? although I had a fan ready just in case. I have the tailgate ? I have no idea if it is the original one - I was told it was. It is straight as an arrow. Selling price is $14,900. I don?t think there is another truck quite like this available. If someone wanted the truck without the camper I would also consider that. Thanks for looking. Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders
Thu, 28 Feb 2013Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.
2014 Corvette Stingray meets Tesla Model S in drag strip showdown
Wed, Jan 29 2014They come from two different worlds and have little in common. The Tesla Model S P85 is the sportiest version of this paradigm-punching sedan from California, while the 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 is a performance-enhanced version of Michigan's recently-updated sports car stalwart. The West Coast car seats five adults and eats electrons like Popeye eats spinach, the Easterner has two passenger places and, surprisingly, sips gasoline like one might bourbon. An attribute they do happen to share is extreme quickness. This similarity is all the excuse Drag Times needed to set the vehicles beside each other at the Palm Beach International Raceway for a bit of mano-a-mano quarter-mile combat. Fortunately enough, cameras were rolling for each of two bouts down the blacktop and the results recorded for our edification and enlightenment. The winner? We won't spoil it for you, but let's just say it's really, really close. How close? Scroll below and watch the video for yourself. Just be warned, the results may surprise you. Here are all the cars GM is axing as part of its restructuring
Tue, Nov 27 2018GM plans to kill off a couple of great and a few meh cars as part of its restructuring. Here's a rundown of all the cars being phased out of production. None of the vehicles GM axed were SUVs or crossovers. Instead, it was an action reminiscent of what Ford recently decided to do by discontinuing U.S. sales every Blue Oval sedan. GM just didn't explicitly say, "We're killing our cars," like Ford did — probably a smart move by GM. Keep scrolling down to see the full list of deceased GM models. Chevrolet Volt This one was the most surprising of all the cars GM decided to can, primarily because cars with plugs are supposed to be our future. However, maybe consumer demand just isn't quite there yet for a plug-in like the Volt. We came up with all sorts of ideas for what was to blame for the untimely demise of the Volt, so go check that out for a full breakdown of the situation. Cadillac CT6 Here's another car we'll be sad to see go. Cadillac's flagship sedan was such a joy to drive, and it served as the conduit to deliver GM's semi-autonomous Super Cruise system, which still hasn't been surpassed by any other company's technology in our books, even Tesla's Autopilot. That being said, GM does plan to produce the CT6 until March, with the last cars coming off the line set to be twin-turbo V8 V-Series models. If it's going to go, this seems like a pretty great way to make an exit. We'll be patiently awaiting the next flagship Cadillac once this one finally fades away. Chevrolet Impala The Impala is actually a pretty good car. It doesn't sell terribly, and we think it's a completely satisfactory car to drive. However, people would rather have a Traverse or Equinox these days, making the Impala one of the vehicles to find itself on this list. Chevrolet is keeping its smaller brother, the Malibu, but a big, full-size sedan just isn't what people are ordering up these days. It's unfortunate to see it go, but we won't be broken up over it. Chevrolet Cruze We wouldn't rank the Cruze at the top of the compact car class, but if you were looking for a small, cheap American car, it was either this or the Focus. The Cruze had the potential to be a true small performance car if Chevy had ever wanted to make it into one. But sadly, we're seeing it bow out before Chevy ever tried to slot a hot engine and suspension in there to make it competitive with other hot hatches. A Cruze SS would have made enthusiasts take notice.
