1964 Short Bed Fleet Side Big Window California Truck Original Metel on 2040-cars
Lincoln, California, United States
This is a Very Nice Chevy truck. Big widow, Short bed Fleet side. With the original aluminum grill and chrome front bumper. Has later style rear chrome bumper that looks very nice and is a lot stronger than original. Original black and yellow plates. Currently registered and insured in my name. It was parked inside a shop in the LA area in 1992. It sat there dry and protected from the elements untill I bought it on ebay in 2012. The motor was frozen (it was a 1972 350) and it had the stock suspension on it. So I removed everything and upgraded to the following. And I still have the original front suspension if you want it.
Newer Drive train from my 1992 Chevy Caprice That was really owned by a little old lady. I used all the accessories and brackets from the 1992. I replaced every gasket and seal when the motor was out. I also installed all new motor mounts and transmission mounts. New water pump. New alternator. Rebuilt HEI distributor with new Plug wires and AC Delco plugs. New Edelbrock aluminum intake. Rochester carburator. New chrome valve covers and Air cleaner. New temperature sending unit. New heater hoses. New radiator hoses. New electric fuel pump. New electric radiator fan with temp relay. All new wiring with seperate fuses. All the gauges work like they should. The bed. It is super straight and rust free. Still has the original wood. It was painted with spatter paint about 25 years ago and needs repainted. But the wood is still good. The guy before me installed extra gas tanks under the body and did a very nice job. He frenched in the gas tank caps into the bed and did a clean job on that too. I am not using them. I installed a new sending unit in the original gas tank and cleaned it out before installing it behind the seat like it was from the factory. The drive train has New 90wt rear end oil and gasket. New drive shaft with new u-joints balanced. New tranny pan gasket and filter and flued. New torq converter lock up kit with relay. The Brakes have all new rubber hoses related. New master brake cylinder. New fluid. They work great. Steering. New power steering pump. New p/s hoses. New Fluid. New alignment. Steering wheel sits straight the truck goes down the road nice. Even the turn signals turn off after turns like it should. The motor and tranny only have about 110,000 miles on them. It starts up every time hot or cold. Has never leaked a drop of anything since I installed them about 3000 miles ago. This truck is not what I consider a show truck. But it really gets a lot of attention. And I have used it in 3 parades and always get thumbs up. It has had one paint job on it and that was done about 25 years ago. It Shines very nice but I found a few places that have rust. Both fender bottoms and the left bottom cab corner. I took good pictures of them . When I removed the original floor mat. There was some small spots of rust by the door sill about the size of a pencil.. so I put P.O.R.15 on the areas that needed it. There was also a small hole under the heater about 2-3 inches around. I sealed it also. The rest of the floor is the original metal and factory paint. The hood got a bad scratch in it from my garage door opener. I took a picture of that too. The under side has most of its original under coating on it. The only things it still needs is the speedo hooked up. And the A/C was blowing cold until the freon leaked out the compressor seal last week. So you will need a rebuilt compressor for a 1992 caprice. Also the sun roof leaks. I have a roof from another truck if you want to go back original. I am sure I forgot something so Truck is located in Lincoln, California. 95648. Buyer is responsible for shipping. This truck is over 45 years old and may have some things needing attention. It is sold as is. Recommend having a 3rd party do an inspection for the buyer to get his or her own personal opinion before bidding. PLEASE ask any questions before bidding. PLEASE READ ENTIRE AD BEFORE CALLING. Thanks Scott 916-521-8943 The reason I am selling it is to buy a 1967 convertible mustang. |

Junkyard Gem: 1986 Chevrolet Sprint Plus
Fri, Jun 16 2023General Motors sold second- and third-generation Suzuki Cultuses with Geo or Chevrolet Metro badging in the United States from 1989 through 2001 model years, and we've all seen plenty of those cars on the street over the years. The first-generation Cultus was sold here as well, with Chevrolet Sprint badges, and I've found a rare example of the Sprint five-door hatchback in a Northern California car graveyard. The Chevy Sprint first appeared on the West Coast as a 1985 model, then became available everywhere in the United States for the 1986 through 1988 model years (in Canada, it was sold as the Pontiac Firefly). It was available here as a hatchback with three or five doors; for 1986 only, the five-door was badged as the Sprint Plus. Soon enough, The General would be selling many more Asian-built cars with Detroit badges here. Isuzu I-Marks were sold as Chevrolet/Geo Spectrums starting in the 1986 model year, while Daewoo provided the Pontiac LeMans two years later. Under the hood, a 1.0-liter three-cylinder rated at 48 horsepower. The five-door Sprint cost $5,580 in 1986, which was $200 more than the three-door (those prices would be $15,445 and $14,891 in 2023 dollars). I've documented seven discarded Sprints prior to this one (including an extremely rare Turbo Sprint), and all of them were three-doors; we can assume that price was the most important factor for Sprint buyers. Gasoline prices were crashing hard during the middle 1980s, but memories of gas lines and odd-even-day fuel rationing from 1979 remained strong. What cars competed with the '86 Sprint on sticker price? Well, there was no way to undercut the hilariously affordable (and terrible) Yugo GV, which cost $3,990. The much bigger (but still pretty bad) Hyundai Excel listed at $4,995, while Toyota would sell you a sturdy (but zero-fun) Tercel starting at $5,448. Even the wretched Chevy Chevette — yes, it was still available in 1986 — cost $5,645. The original buyer of this car was willing to shell out an extra $395 to get an automatic instead of the base five-speed manual. That's about $1,093 in today's money. This car must have been slow. By the end, the doors were held shut with duct tape, but it still stayed alive until age 37. 53 miles per gallon on the highway! It does everything. The camels of the highway.
Race Recap: Rolex 24 at Daytona was fast and feisty
Mon, Jan 26 2015Let the record show that victory at the 2015 Rolex 24 at Daytona went to the No. 02 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Target/Ford EcoBoost Riley DP driven by Verizon IndyCar drivers Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan and NASCAR drivers Jamie McMurray and Kyle Larson. The winner did 740 laps to cover 2,634.3 miles in 24 hours and 57.667 seconds. That's a statement to this year's pace in spite of 18 cautions, two more than last year: the Michael Shank Racing Ligier got pole with a time of 1:39.194, slower than last year's pole time of 1:38.270; however, the winning car last year only did 695 laps. The fight for top honors was shaved to a four-car battle over the first third of the event. The No. 02 Ganassi car took the lead on the first lap, swapping it well into the night with the No. 01 Ganassi car, the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP, and the defending champion No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP, all of them staying within about 20 seconds of one another. The Action Express car had a fuel connector come loose and lost three laps getting towed back to the pits to have it reattached, but was back in the lead 18 hours in. The No. 01 Ganassi car dropped out with recurring clutch problems 22 hours in, retiring not long after. A race-within-the-race is where the concluding action happened, a seven minute, 30-second dash from the end of the last caution to the checkered flag. During the penultimate pit stops with an hour to go, Dixon was in second place followed Jordan Taylor in the Wayne Taylor Racing DP into the pits but beat him out, taking the lead. The Action Express car was in third. In the last pit stops of the race, Dixon gained even more time, getting a four-second advantage over Taylor. Then a full-course caution came out twenty minutes before the finish when a Prototype Challenge car hit the wall and caught fire, bunching up the field. That closed the pits, but the Wayne Taylor Racing car had to pit during that yellow because of a miscalculation of driver time. No driver can be behind the wheel for more than four hours in a six-hour period but Jordan Taylor was going to go over, so he came in to swap out for brother Ricky. That cost the team any chance of second place, since they took an additional drive-through penalty for entering closed pits. When the track went green again, Sebastien Bourdais in the Action Express car stayed all over Dixon for the final five laps but couldn't get around him.
