Fleetside Shortbed Big Back Window – Custom Air Ride Suspension

This is a freshly built truck that starts every time and can be a reliable daily driver.  I’m only selling to fund another project that I have my eyes on.  Not desperate, so not giving it away.

Suspension/Steering:

  • ·         Factory cross member, factory LCA’s plated, interior wheel wells tubbed to lower it as far as it’ll go with the factory cross member.
  • ·         Custom 2-link, C-notch, dual Viair compressors (under cab), dual 2.5 gallon tanks (under cab), 2-paddle valves and dual needle gauge on custom panel under dash.
  • ·         Firestone bags
  • ·         Adjustable pan-hard bar
  • ·         CPP Modular 2” drop spindles
  • ·         CPP front power disk brake kit – 12” disk brakes on front
  • ·         Rear drum brakes were rebuilt with brand new components
  • ·         CPP power steering kit
  • ·         CPP 1 1/4” front sway bar
  • ·         New lowering shocks
  • ·         She rides like a Cadillac!

Exterior:

  • ·         New paint in 2013 - Charcoal gray metallic with red metallic stripe – really good driver quality, not show
  • ·         Side trim moldings replaced in 2013
  • ·         New chrome rear bumper
  • ·         New bumper brackets – slightly modified to bring bumper closer to bed
  • ·         New license plate bracket/light
  • ·         New headlight bezels
  • ·         New Smoothie Wheels, 6-lug powder coated black: Front – 15x7, Rear – 15x8
  • ·         New Tires: Cooper Cobra: Front – 225/70R15, Rear - 255/70R15
  • ·         Windshield was replaced in 2013
  • ·         LED rear taillights
  • ·         New exterior door handles

Interior:

  • ·         Gloss black dash/door panels with charcoal gray doors, black carpet, black rubber floor mats, and gray/black seat cover
  • ·         New Ididit tilt steering column with column shift and original steering wheel
  • ·         In March 2014, both doors were gutted and all new components were installed:

·         New window regulators

·         New door handle relays

·         New window cranks

·         New door handles

·         New arm rests

·         Both doors/panels were lined with FatMat sound deadener

·         Truck has a modern CD player with auxillary connections, and a pair of 6”x9” speakers.

  • ·         Brand new Auto Meter Old Tyme gauges (6 in total) in a billet gauge panel with LED turn signal and bright light indicators.
  • ·         All factory wiring removed and a brand new EZ-Wiring harness installed in December of 2013.  Has 21-circuits with 18 fuses.  Color coded wiring.  Unused wires spooled under dash, so you can still upgrade with AC, power windows, etc with ease.
  • ·         Factory gas tank removed from behind the seat and a 1st gen mustang tank was put in the frame rails at the rear of the truck.
  • ·         New window seals
  • ·         New door seals
  • ·         New glove box
  • ·         New rear view mirror

Under the hood:

  • ·         Small block 350 (91 or 92 block) with Vortec heads – block painted orange
  • ·         New Edelbrock 600CFM carb installed in January 2014 – electronic choke (tap the gas peddle once when it’s cold, starts right up)
  • ·         Edelbrock intake manifold
  • ·         Ram horn exhaust manifolds
  • ·         Freshly rebuilt 700R4 overdrive transmission installed in Feb 2014 – she’ll cruise at 70 on the highway at around 2,000 RPM’s
  • ·         All new transmission lines
  • ·         Chrome valve covers
  • ·         HEI distributor
  • ·         New plugs
  • ·         New Optima battery
  • ·         New alternator
  • ·         New water pump
  • ·         Chrome valve covers
  • ·         Chrome Edelbrock air cleaner cover
  • ·         Dual Magnaflow mufflers, dumped in front of rear axle

What does this truck need to be finished?

  • ·         Bed floor - That said, I get more people coming up to me talking about the rear frame mod’s than any other part of the truck, so it’s honestly kind of cool to have it open.
  • ·         I have the original wheel tubs and bed cross-members if the buyer wants them.
  • ·         The front inner fenders were cut to allow the truck to sit lower when laid out.  The cut-outs have not been covered, as there was a plan to go with a Porterbuilt front cross-member in the future, ultimately lowering the front down even further.

I will upload additional pictures and likely a video soon.  I have pictures throughout the build, so if I missed anything, don’t hesitate to ask.

Again, this is a very solid truck that is reliable, starts every time, and can comfortably cruise on the highway.

Clear TX title comes with truck.

Buyer responsible for setting up and arranging shipment, but I will be available to meet.

Truck sold as-is, where-is with no warranty expressed or implied.

Not currently for sale locally, however, I reserve the right to end auction at any time.

Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme

Mon, 17 Dec 2012

They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.

Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon get updated tachometers due to graphical error

Sun, Feb 8 2015

After James Bearing bought a Chevrolet Colorado, he noticed a discrepancy between the truck's spec sheet and the truck's tachometer: Chevrolet said 3.6-liter V6 in the little pickup produces 305 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, but the the tachometer indicates a redline at 6,500 rpm. So either he wasn't making as much power as he was promised, or the tachometer display was incorrect. Bearing said he asked Chevy about it but got no response. Until now. A General Motors spokesman said the rev limiter is indeed set for 6,800 rpm, but the tach graphics "are slightly off" in the Colorado and the GMC Canyon, and submitted an SAE horsepower certification to back him up. If you're wondering how such a thing got past quality control... well, let's just say you're not alone. GM is going to fix "the graphics on future trucks," which makes it sound like Bearing will just have to learn to live with the indicated redline he's got. He could always pretend he's driving a sleeper, with four more ponies waiting to be unlocked in the danger zone for those who dare. 2020 Chevy Trax spied sporting design cues from the new Blazer

Wed, Oct 3 2018

We saw spy shots in August for what we thought was either a redesigned Chevrolet Trax or new GMC subcompact crossover. At the time we were leaning Chevy. But after this latest batch of spy shots taken near GM's proving grounds, we're now thinking this one is the Trax replacement and the other one was a GMC. For one, the thin row of LEDs looks remarkably similar to the 2019 Chevy Blazer's LED strip. The additional light slightly below that is similar to the Blazer as well, leading us to believe that the next Trax will have a Blazer-esque front end. At first glance, this vehicle looks slightly larger than today's Trax with a much brawnier shape than the current blob-like design. The rear roof cladding could be hiding the same sloped rear window with spoiler hangover we see on the Blazer. Circling back to the other small GM crossover we caught testing, this one doesn't have those Blazer elements. The curved windshield and sloping roof are like those of the GMC Terrain, as are the horizontal grille bars. By contrast, the above car has a straighter windshield and a roof shaped more like the Blazer. One element that does seem to diverge from the new Blazer are the taillights, but they don't exactly look production-ready anyway. If we're right about this being the next Trax (and we're pretty sure we are) then this looks to be a more distinctive vehicle than what it will replace. The mirrors have left their awkward spot on the doors, and it's shaping up to be a much sportier looking crossover as a whole. This vehicle will most likely end up being a 2020 model year car, and if so, we would expect to see undisguised photos of both it and the assumed GMC version next year.
