1963 Shortbed Original 283 V8 3 Spd Blue And White Fleetside Original Patina on 2040-cars

Year:1963 Mileage:86399
Location:

Up for bid is an ALL ORIGINAL 1963 shortbed Chevy Pickup.  This truck is an original survivor that I purchased from the 2nd owner, who only had it about 1.5 years.  This truck was purchased new in 1963 from Harvey's Chevrolet in Radford, Va.  The truck has been in Va since it was purchased new.  I have fixed and replaced many of the mechanical pieces on this truck so it could once see life on the road again.

NEW Parts include:
  • Radiator (made to look old)
  • Water Pump
  • Fan Belt
  • Battery
  • Fuel Pump
  • Valve Cover Gaskets
  • K&N Air Filter Element
  • Spark Plugs
  • Wheel Cylinders
  • Master Cylinder
  • Rubber Brake Lines (F&R)
  • CPP 5" Lower Springs in Rear and 3" Lower Springs in Front
  • CPP Shocks Front and Rear
  • Rear Tires 31 x 10.50 x 15 on 8" Steel Wheels (New Powder Coat)
  • Front Tires 225-70-15 on Factory 5.5 Steel Wheels (New Powder Coat)
  • Brake Pads
  • Carburetor
This truck sat in a garage for 19 years after the original owner passed until the family sold it to the gentleman I purchased it from.  The motor, transmission, and rearend are original to the truck.  The wood in the bed is original and is still solid!  I have the original springs and also the other 3 original steel wheels that go with the truck.  Interior is original including the fuel tank, that was very clean!  This truck runs very good and I have driven it to several car shows over 200 miles from my house.  The paint is also original, with some older touch up repairs.

As with all original 51 year old vehicles, it does have a few issues.  Front lower fenders on both sides were repaired years ago and the bondo is cracking.  Truck had an old repair in the rockers at some time during its life.  One cab brace on passenger side is rusted and should be replaced.  Original seat is torn.  Rubber floor mat has a small tear (it is original).  Front bumper is bent very little.  Turn signal switch needs replacing.  Heater core is bad and will need replaced, it is the deluxe heater.  Heater control knobs are broken.  Engine ticks a little when cold, but goes away when engine warms up.  Speedometer does not work correctly.  This truck is a very good truck for a full restoration, or continue to drive and enjoy it like it is.

Truck has no warranties implied or expressed and will be sold AS IS, where is.  $1000 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours of auction close and truck will need to be picked up within 7 days of auction end, unless other arrangements are made with me.  The remainder of payment will be cash and the truck or title will not leave my possession until all money is paid in full.  Any delivery fees will be at the cost of the new buyer.

2014 Chevrolet Cruze TD fires up its new diesel motor

Thu, 07 Feb 2013

Ever since General Motors confirmed plans to produce a diesel-powered Cruze back in 2011, we've been eagerly awaiting its arrival. And as part of the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Chevrolet has pulled back the cover on its oil-burning compact sedan, set to go on sale in the near future with a starting price of $25,695, not including $810 for destination.
The heart and soul of the Cruze TD (that's its official name) is a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel inline four-cylinder engine rated at 148 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated solely to a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine also has an overboost function that will increase torque to 280 lb-ft for up to ten seconds. The full brace of official specs haven't been released, but GM tells us that highway fuel economy will come in at 42 miles per gallon. If that number sounds familiar, it's because the Volkswagen Jetta TDI has the exact same rating. Unlike the Jetta, however, the Cruze TD can run on B20 biodiesel, where as the Volkswagen can only accept B5.
Model-specific changes to this 2014 Cruze TD include an aero kit and unique 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, there's a full leather interior, and Chevrolet will provide two years of complimentary scheduled maintenance, not to mention a 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Former Fisker CEO has some advice for Tesla Motors

Wed, Oct 22 2014

Former Fisker Automotive CEO and ex-Chevrolet Volt vehicle-line director Tony Posawatz has some words of caution for Tesla Motors. The long-time automaker executive questions the California automaker's long-term viability – and gives some praise – in a talk with Benzinga, which you can listen to below. While the all-wheel-drive D that Tesla unveiled earlier this month in Southern California wowed a packed crowd, Posawatz (starting at around minute 4:45 in the interview) says Tesla would've been better off taking the resources it expended toward that Model S upgrade and directed them towards speeding up the development of a more affordable plug-in. Perhaps a number of investors agreed, since the company's stock fell the day after the D was announced. Posawatz says Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of ZEV credits. Posawatz also says that Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of zero-emissions vehicle credits in California for its earnings and questions whether the automaker will ever work at a large enough scale to sufficiently drive down costs and make consistent profits. Tesla CEO Elon Musk would take issue with this characterization. Posawatz first made his mark in the plug-in vehicle world when he was the vehicle-line director at General Motors for the Volt extended-range plug-in from 2006 to 2012. Later that year, he joined extended-range plug-in maker Fisker Automotive as its CEO, though quit that job during the summer of 2013 as the company was descending into insolvency. He joined the Electrification Coalition this past March. News Source: Benzinga Green Chevrolet Fisker Tesla Electric PHEV Tony Posawatz

Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures

Tue, Jun 23 2020

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski  Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.
