Up for auction is my 1962 Suburban. I was in the process of restoring this, but unexpected medical bills are forcing me to sell it. Below is a list of work that has been completed on the vehicle.

1)NEW fuel tank, sending unit and fuel filters.

2)Fresh transmission filter and fluid change.

3)Changed engine oil and filter

4)Tune up including plugs,wires,distributor cap,rotor button,points,condenser and coil.

5)Replaced one rear brake line that was rusted

6)Good battery

7)Cooper radial Tires with good tread.

The previous owner replaced the six cylinder engine with a 327 2bbl. According to the serial number on the block,it is a 1969 model.

The transmission is a THD350 from the same year.

It originally had a two speed power glide.

Odometer reads 50,837. Not sure if this original, or if it has tripped. Speedometer does not work.

It runs and drives well. Doesn't smoke at all and holds good oil pressure at all rpm ranges. It has aftermarket oil, temp, and amp. gauges.

It has manual steering, which is tight. Manual brakes, which hold well.

It has stock manifolds and a single exhaust with a stock muffler.

The radiator may need repair, as I have noticed some coolant seepage near the top, when the vehicle has reached operating temperature. It just appears wet, does not leak to the ground.

The lights and wipers function as they should. I am not sure about the heater. I have not tried it. Has the original AM radio, which doesn't appear to work.

It has been painted, at least once before I purchased it. It is due for a paint job and body work now. I have included photos of each panel to show exact condition. It has clamshell rear doors and sliding side windows.

The previous owner used it as a flower delivery truck, and had welded some metal racks in the rear to hold plant trays. There are some spots that will need to be filled where these were welded in. See interior photos for close ups of these areas.

It has bucket seats from another vehicle with shoulder strap seat belts. They are in good condition.

The back cargo area has the original rubber mat in place, and has the mounting holes for the original rear seats. Unfortunately I do not have the seats.

The original wooden floor in the cargo area has been replaced with thick, marine grade plywood, which is solid.

The undercarriage and frame rails have some surface rust, but are solid. There is one small rust hole in the bottom leg of one frame rail near the back,on the driver's side. This does not affect the strength of the chassis, since it is not on the side portion of the frame. I have attached a photo detailing this area. It appears to have rusted between two holes that were drilled in the frame when the chassis was built.

I have tired to describe this vehicle and thoroughly and honestly as possible. Please email me with any questions.

Vehicle is being sold, AS-IS,WHERE IS.

Even though the truck runs and drives fine, I would plan on trailering it home if you are out of town.

$500.00 deposit will be required within 24 hours of auction close. I will accept PayPal or cash, at time of pickup for the balance.

Bidder's with zero, or negative feedback, please contact me before bidding.

Thanks for Looking, and Happy Bidding!!!

GM Recalls 218,000 Chevy Aveo Models Over Fire-Prone Lighting

Wed, May 21 2014

The recall train keeps on rolling for General Motors. Hot on the heels of its recent 2.4 million-vehicle recall of various models, it's now calling in 218,000 Chevrolet Aveo units from the 2004-2008 model years because they could catch fire. The problem concerns the daytime running light module in the instrument panel. It could overheat, melt and cause a fire. According to GM spokesperson Alan Adler, "We are aware of some fires," and the company "is still investigating." Adler wouldn't comment about how many fires were reported or when the automaker was first aware of this issue because of the ongoing analysis. However, he said the issue has not caused any injuries or fatalities. GM also doesn't have a fix for the problem with the DRL module yet. The company says in its recall statement to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the remedy "is still under development." Adler wasn't sure when it would be ready, but he said Aveo owners would receive notification in the mail "relatively soon." They will receive a second letter later to schedule the repair. In a separate letter about the Aveo's problem to NHTSA (viewable here as a PDF), GM said its Executive Field Action Decision Committee decided to conduct the recall on May 16. Scroll down for the recall report. RECALL Subject : Daytime Running Light Module Overheating Report Receipt Date: MAY 19, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V261000 Component(s): Potential Number of Units Affected: 218,000 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Chevrolet Aveo vehicles equipped with daytime running lights (DRL). In the affected vehicles, there may be heat generated within the DRL module located in the center console in the instrument panel, which could melt the DRL module. CONSEQUENCE: If the DRL module melts due to the heat generation, it could cause a vehicle fire. REMEDY: The remedy for this recall campaign is still under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). General Motors recall number for this campaign is 14236. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Autoblog's guilty pleasure cars

Tue, Mar 10 2015

Guilty pleasures are part of life – don't even try to pretend like you don't have one (or two, or six). In the non-automotive space, this could come down to that secret playlist in your iPhone of songs you'll only listen to when you're alone; or think of that one TV show you really do love, but won't admit to your friends. I've got plenty, and so do you. Going back to cars, here's a particularly juicy one for me: several years ago, I had a mad crush on the very last iteration of the Cadillac DTS. Oh yes, the front-wheel-drive, Northstar V8-powered sofa-on-wheels that was the last remaining shred of the elderly-swooning days of Cadillac's past. Every time I had the chance to drive one, I was secretly giddy. Don't hate me, okay? These days, the DTS is gone, but I've still got a mess of other cars that hold a special place in my heart. And in the spirit of camaraderie, I've asked my other Autoblog editors to tell me some of their guilty pleasure cars, as well – Seyth Miersma, as you can see above, has a few choice emotions to share about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Read on to find out what cars make us secretly happy. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG This decadent convertible is the epitome of the guilty pleasure. It's big, powerful, fairly heavy and it's richly appointed inside and out. It's a chocolate eclair with the three-pointed star on the hood. Given my druthers, I'd take the SL65 AMG, which delivers 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. That output is borderline absurd for this laid-back convertible. I don't care. You don't need dessert. Sometimes you just crave it. The SL line is about the feel you get on the road. The roof is open. The air, sun and engine sounds all embrace you. It's the same dynamic you could have experienced in a Mercedes a century ago, yet the SL gives you the most modern of luxuries. An Airscarf feature that warms my neck and shoulders through a vent embedded in the seat? Yes, please. Sure, it's an old-guy car. Mr. Burns and Lord Grantham are probably too young and hip for an SL65. I don't care. This is my guilty pleasure. Release the hounds. – Greg Migliore Senior Editor Ford Flex I drove my first Flex in 2009 when my mother let me borrow hers for the summer while I was away at college. The incredibly spacious interior made moving twice that summer a breeze, and the 200-mile trips up north were quite comfortable.

Camaro-based Trans Am SE Bandit Edition borrows Burt Reynolds

Tue, Mar 29 2016

For some reason, modifying modern Chevrolet Camaros into the lurching, reincarnated shells of the Pontiac brand is still a thing. If you're the perverse sort that likes this kind of thing, you should check out the latest product from the Trans Am Depot, which comes complete with an endorsement from the star of Smokey and the Bandit, Burt Reynolds. Yes, the new Trans Am SE Bandit Edition has been signed and endorsed by the man himself, but what's important here is not the signature on the dash, it's the bits of Camaro that have been modified. Aesthetically, that means a Bandit-and-Frog-approved set of T-tops, a front-opening hood with a very large, prominent shaker scoop, an equally large and prominent screaming chicken, and Trans Am-inspired front and rear fascias. And naturally, Burt Reynolds' signature adorns the dash. There are plenty of reminders in the cabin about this car's Hollywood inspiration, too. Bandit decals can be found on the front headrests and center console lid, there are chicken wings on the Camaro-spec plastic door inserts, and the black-and-tan color scheme matches nicely with the exterior look. And power? Well, Sheriff Buford T. Justice would have a lot more trouble keeping up with this Trans Am than he did with the original. The 7.4-liter LSX V8 has been paired with a 2.9-liter supercharger which is good for 840 horsepower. It's fast and loud, and even if you can't get behind the look (we can't), at least this Camaro-in-Trans Am's clothing can impress with its performance. The Bandit Edition is limited to just 77 units with prices starting around $115,000. You can check out the official video from Trans Am Depot, which comes with a decent helping of Burt Reynolds, up top. Related Video:
