My wife purchased this truck in the early 1990's with the intention of driving it and restoring it back to the original factory condition.
This truck is a standard model cab, 3 speed Manual Column Shift with a heater. It also has the factory correct/original am radio not hooked up. To our knowledge, my wife is the 3rd owner and our belief is it has always been a California truck (current registration is South Dakota but it has never been there).
THE NOT SO GOOD......
It has rust in all the usual places; a little worse on the right upper rocker panel and right lower door area (nothing that can't be repaired). NO RUST goes through completely to the exterior. No salt used on the roads in Southern California where this truck has been.
: - ) NOW FOR THE GOOD PART : - )
We started to plan for a restoration because all the original parts were (and still are) on this truck except the hubcaps. It runs good; clutch and pressure plate have less than a 1000 (one thousand) miles on it and a new battery, cables and regulator were installed this month. Oil changed in engine and air filter as well as fresh valve adjustment. Spare tire and wheel included (although no hanging mechanism which can easily be obtained).
When we bought this truck, the speedometer / odometer did not work so we had no idea what the actual mileage was. About 15 years ago we had the speedometer / odometer repaired and the mileage is currently at about 1700 miles. Yes! That's not a typo.... we only put about 1700 miles on this truck in the past 15 years!
New Restoration parts included:
New carpet and reupholstered original equipment seat installed
Interior Mirror and New glove box installed
All the following items listed are new in the box (these parts were going to be installed during the restoration):
Front and Rear Window Rubber
Driver and Passenger side Felt lined window channels
Wind wing rubber kit
New tail lamp lens and gaskets
Extra rear view mirror
The previous owner moved the signal light switch out of the column and hung it under the dash (it works). We hung after market gauges under the dash (easily removed) and original idiot lights are still operational. It also has an aftermarket am/fm cassette player attached under the dash but not permanently mounted to eliminate any modifications / holes in the original dash (easily removed). This truck runs and drives as it should but if the buyer chooses, this will make a great winter restoration project. If you follow ebay, two weeks ago a restored 1965 Chevrolet Step side short bed sold for $21,600.
This truck comes with an original era shop manual (not the small Haynes or Chilton's type), new points, condenser and u-joints in a box. It also comes with an excellent condition locking Delta Aluminum Diamond Plate tool box (clamped, not drilled, to the bed) $300 item.
To make it clear, this truck is a turn key, fully operational non restored running truck with about $2000.00 worth of fresh parts ready for your restoration..... or a daily driver as it sits!
This truck comes with a fully transferrable Clear, South Dakota Title so ownership can be transferred to your state.
Vehicle is being offered with a fair reserve and is available for inspection approximately 45 minutes north of San Diego, CA.
The successful high bidder will submit a $500.00 Non-Refundable Deposit within 48 hours of close of auction, with the balance due within 5 days.
Cash in person or Bank Wire are required. All financial transactions must be complete prior to release of vehicle. If winning buyer decides to ship, all shipping costs are at the expense of the buyer and seller will not be held liable for any damages in shipping. The seller is willing to work with the buyer by delivering to a local shipping facility of the buyer's choice in the area of San Diego County, CA. Any questions regarding shipping or anything else should be settled prior to close of auction.
Seller reserves the right to cancel auction prior to close as this truck is locally for sale.

Chevy to show redesigned Captiva in Geneva, will it come to US rental lots?
Wed, 27 Feb 2013Unless you're renting a car or driving through Orlando, Florida (the rental car capital of the US), you'll probably never see a Chevrolet Captiva - the rebadged, fleet-only version of the old Saturn Vue - on our roads, but this crossover is popular in many other parts of the world. As such, Chevrolet announced that the Captiva will be getting an update for 2013, which will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Coming off a pretty extensive refresh in 2011, the 2013 model year will bring even more changes to the Captiva like LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels and revised fascias with a new grille and fog lights up front and inset chrome exhaust outlets at the rear. New interior features include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control as well as available options on some of the upper trim levels such as leather seating and keyless entry and start. We have yet to hear back from Chevrolet as to whether or not the updated Captiva will be making its way to a rental lot near you, as the model is only available in the US to fleet buyers.
Alongside the updated Captiva, Chevy is also showing off its new Trax in Europe, where the subcompact crossover will go on sale this spring. GM's press release for these two Geneva-bound models is posted below.

2016 Chevy Volt arrives with 50-mile EV range, 41 mpg [w/ video]
Mon, Jan 12 2015Let's start with the numbers. The 2016 Chevy Volt will have an all-electric range of 50 miles from a new, 18.4-kWh lithium battery. It will get 41 miles per gallon (combined) once the battery runs dry and have 102 MPGe. Oh, and it has five seats, sort of. To compare, today's four-seat 2015 Volt has a 38-mile range from a 17.1-kWh battery in a powertrain that offers 37 mpg and 98 MPGe. So, across the board, there are notable improvements. Now that that's out of the way, let's talk story. General Motors will unveil the new Volt at the Detroit Auto Show later today, but it's been talking about how this new version – the first major plug-in hybrid vehicle to get a serious redo in the modern era – was crafted with reams and reams of data from first-gen Volt customers. At a preview event for journalists last week, GM executive chief engineer Pam Fletcher told Autoblog that these owners "gave us the recipe" to make the second-gen model. At the top of the request list was more range (check), more "fun-to-drive" behavior (check?) and a smoother and quieter experience (we'll assume a check here, given that the new 1.5-liter four-cylinder – the first North American application of this new engine family – should offer more power with less noise than the previous 1.4-liter, four-cylinder powerplant). Other customer-driven changes in the new Volt include a different place to store the charging cable (in the side of the trunk instead of under the load floor) and a new brake system with improved blended regenerative braking feel as well as driver-selectable regen levels. The requested 50-mile range comes from a new, lighter battery that has increased capacity from fewer cells (192 vs. 288) and a simplified control architecture. Along with the new battery, the electric drive unit is a two-motor deal that is up to 12 percent more efficient and 100 pounds lighter, while also being "tremendously smaller," notes Fletcher. It offers 294 pound-feet of torque and a maximum 149 horsepower of "motoring power" delivered to the wheels. GM says it has worked hard to reduced the amount of rare earth materials in these motors, and one of them doesn't use any at all. The new powertrain offers improved acceleration times, as well. The 2016 Volt can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 8.4 seconds, a seven-percent improvement, while the 0-30 mph time has been improved by 19 percent, down to 2.6 seconds. The new Volt is more conventional looking, but certainly not completely ordinary.
