1994 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer Tahoe Lt on 2040-cars
Frederick, Maryland, United States
1994 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer Tahoe LT. Black Exterior. Black Interior.
First the good. ALL the power options work. Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Power Mirrors, Power Seat, ETC. all function. A/C blows cold. Heater blows hot. Rear Window release works correctly [this is kinda amazing]. Rear window defrost works. Cruise control works. All the Gauges work. Basically all the stupid stuff that is usually broken on these trucks is working fine. ABS light is NOT, i repeat NOT on. amazing. I just ran this truck through Maryland State Inspection less than a year ago, and their inspection is no joke. So all the lights and stuff work fine. It also got New Brakes up front, New oil lines Some front end pieces, a new battery, and a bunch of other little things. It also had some, admittedly rough body work done to seal a couple of rust holes. Now for the bad. The big issue is the motor has a BAD knock in it. I suspect either a Rod Bearing or Main Bearing failure. It starts, but cannot be driven as i doubt it'd make it more than a few miles before the motor seized up. There was also a small leak in the spider injector that i never did track down that will need to be repaired. Couple of minor issues. Driver's side window goes off track when rolling down. There is a flap in the Vent system that makes most of the air come out under the dash regardless of the position of the controls. the A/C still blows cold, it's just on your feet. Some air will come out on the window in defrost mode, but it's still not right. It was workable, so i never got around to fixing it. The 4WD does not work. I tracked it down to the front axle not engaging. Looks like the cable is binding, but i lost interest in fixing that when the weather got warm. There is a good bit of rust below the two front doors and on the driver's side door. The Passenger side front fender has a good bit of rust on it. There are some dents and dings as well. I tried to document those in the pictures. The interior is in pretty good shape. Couple of small issues, but nothing serious. NO seat tears or anything. This truck could be brought back to life by someone with the time to do it, or it would make an EXCELLENT parts truck as basically ALL the little things that are usually broken on these trucks aren't broken on this one. I had planned on fixing the rust, painting it, and driving this truck for the next few years. It just didn't work out that way. Truck will have to be towed or trailered on pickup. It cannot be driven in it's current state. This is a NO RESERVE auction. Highest bidder will win it. Thanks and Happy Bidding! here's a video of the truck running so you can hear what noise it's making. |

Weekly Recap: GM plans massive new paint shop at Chevy Corvette factory
Sat, May 23 2015General Motors is laying out some serious green to maintain the Chevy Corvette's expansive color palette. The automaker is breaking ground on a new paint shop this summer that's part of a $439-million investment to upgrade the 34-year-old Bowling Green, KY, factory that builds the Stingray. The massive new structure will total 450,000 square feet, nearly half the size of the current 1-million square-foot facility. Construction is expected to take two years and won't impact Corvette production. The upgrades include new robots that save paint and create a better finish, longer, more efficient ovens to bake in the finish, and LED lighting. There's also a dry scrubbing booth technology with a limestone handling system that eliminates waste. GM has invested $135 million in the factory in last four years for the changeover to build the C7 and to relocate its Performance Build Center to Bowling Green. The improvements continue to modernize the Kentucky factory, which has become a tourist attraction in its own right, as more than 56,000 enthusiasts visited it last year. The upgrades are part of a $5.4-billion investment GM confirmed in April that will remake its US footprint in the next three years. The Bowling Green expansion underscores GM's continued commitment to the Corvette, which sold nearly 38,000 copies around the world last year, an eight-year high. "With this major technology investment, we can continue to exceed the expectations of sports car buyers for years to come," North American manufacturing manager Arvin Jones said in a statement. OTHER NEWS & NOTES Takata recall hits 34 million vehicles The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration expanded the Takata airbag recall to an almost unthinkable 34 million vehicles on Tuesday. The recall is part of an agreement reached by the two sides where Takata admitted some of its airbag inflators have a defect, and the deal compels the company to comply with all future regulatory actions and investigations. Takata's airbag inflators were produced with "a propellant that can degrade over time" and lead to ruptures, NHTSA said. Six deaths have been attributed to the flaw worldwide. Investigations conducted by Takata, automakers, and others have not determined the exact cause of the inflator problem, but NHTSA said moisture appears to alter the propellant's chemical structure. It then ignites too rapidly, creates too much pressure that ruptures the inflator, and blasts shards of metal at passengers.
Best car infotainment systems: From UConnect to MBUX, these are our favorites
Sun, Jan 7 2024Declaring one infotainment system the best over any other is an inherently subjective matter. You can look at quantitative testing for things like input response time and various screen load times, but ask a room full of people that have tried all car infotainment systems what their favorite is, and you’re likely to get a lot of different responses. For the most part, the various infotainment systems available all share a similar purpose. They aim to help the driver get where they're going with navigation, play their favorite tunes via all sorts of media playback options and allow folks to stay connected with others via phone connectivity. Of course, most go way beyond the basics these days and offer features like streaming services, in-car performance data and much more. Unique features are aplenty when you start diving through menus, but how they go about their most important tasks vary widely. Some of our editors prefer systems that are exclusively touch-based and chock full of boundary-pushing features. Others may prefer a back-to-basics non-touch system that is navigable via a scroll wheel. You can compare it to the phone operating system wars. Just like some prefer Android phones over iPhones, we all have our own opinions for what makes up the best infotainment interface. All that said, our combined experience tells us that a number of infotainment systems are at least better than the rest. WeÂ’ve narrowed it down to five total systems in their own subcategories that stand out to us. Read on below to see our picks, and feel free to make your own arguments in the comments. Best infotainment overall: UConnect 5, various Stellantis products Ram 1500 Uconnect Infotainment System Review If thereÂ’s one infotainment system that all of us agree is excellent, itÂ’s UConnect. It has numerous qualities that make it great, but above all else, UConnect is simple and straightforward to use. Ease of operation is one of the most (if not the single most) vital parts of any infotainment system interface. If youÂ’re expected to be able to tap away on a touchscreen while driving and still pay attention to the road, a complex infotainment system is going to remove your attention from the number one task at hand: driving. UConnect uses a simple interface that puts all of your key functions in a clearly-represented row on the bottom of the screen. Tap any of them, and it instantly pulls up that menu.
