1984 M1009 Chevrolet Blazer. 6.2 Detroit Diesel engine. Automatic transmission. All stock CUCV M1009. Glow plugs have been upgraded. Has original CARC paint. No radio antenna bracket holes. M1009 was an MP truck for North Dakota National Guard. Runs, shifts, starts, drives, sounds great. All glass is good. This CUCV WILL start a 0 degrees! It has a block heater for temps below 0. I ALWAYS add 3 ounces of stanadyne pump oil to fuel with every fill up. I dont let it get below 1/4 of a tank. Has a new heater core. Everything works. Has upgraded glow plugs, starter relay, and glow plug controller. Rear pintle hitch upgraded to pintle with 2 inch ball. Has an original spare tire. Has original fire extinguisher. Comes with another top. (Had one left over from a salvage M1009 I bought). Everything in this CUCV has been checked against and any repairs made strictly according to the technical military manuals. Has the correct milspec batteries. (Never been ran down or jump started) NO wiring has been hacked into on this one! I am not afraid to drive anywhere in this truck and have taken it on several trips with NO issues. I dont push it past 65 mph. I had all paperwork on this truck from the North Dakota National Guard but I cannot find it. I have owned it for 6 years and the paperwork may have been thrown away? Paperwork stated it had a new engine at 40 some thousand miles, but without the paperwork, I have no way of proving that. I have no question with as good as it runs. LED lights on grill guard are NOT included and have been removed. A friend of mine works for a light manufacturer that designed these for 24 volt vehicles and I tried them out for a couple years. You can have what I have left of the stanadyne pump oil. (3 ounces to 30 gallons fuel) and I recommend using it to add the lubricity that today's diesel fuel is lacking. Has original jack and jack handle. Was never forklifted at auction lot. Was never listed as a non-runner. Has a new high-torque starter with correct GM starter bracket to block. Has been kept clean and indoors for the winter months here in South Dakota. No rust through anywhere. Original battery hold down brackets are included with auction and they are on the blazer now. ( I noticed in pictures they weren't installed. I had just installed the new batteries) Only known issues: Fan blower motor squeals a little bit sometimes. Neither outer door lock is operable with key. (occasionally the passenger side will lock/unlock) Small wrinkle on right rear lower fender behind tire( I back up onto a log in my back yard)(see pictures) There is a spot on tailgate that has been repaired by the National Guard before I got it.(see pictures) You could fly in and drive this home to anywhere you live. It has no issues that would prevent you from driving it home. I will even pick you up at the airport in the M1009. It can sit here for 60 days. I will be moving at that time. That is my ONLY reason for selling this truck. It has been the most reliable, go-anywhere vehicle I have had over the past 6 years. I know I will regret selling it but life happens! These are getting phased out and are getting harder and harder to find in this condition that haven't been restored. I can take videos, pictures of anything you want to see/hear, etc. My number is 605-858-3400 if you want to call and ask questions or whatever. I HAVE THIS FOR SALE LOCALLY. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE THE LISTING AND END AUCTION AT ANY TIME. ONCE RESERVE IS MET, I WILL SELL IT TO HIGH BIDDER!!! Original lockouts have been reinstalled. CD player has been removed and an original uncut CUCV dash panel installed.

Detroit 3 to implement delayed unified towing standards for 2015

Tue, Feb 11 2014

Car buyers have a responsibility to be well-informed consumers. That's not always a very simple task, but some guidelines are self-evident. If you live in a very snowy climate, you generally know a Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro might not be as viable a vehicle choice as an all-wheel drive Explorer or Traverse, for example. If you want a fuel-efficient car, it's generally a good idea to know the difference between a diesel and a hybrid. But what if it's kind of tough to be an informed consumer? What if the information you need is more difficult to come by, or worse, based on different standards for each vehicle? Well, in that case, you might be a truck shopper. For years, customers of light-duty pickups have had to suffer through different ratings of towing capacities for each brand. For 2015 model year trucks, though, that will no longer be a problem. According to Automotive News, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler Group have announced that starting with next year's models, a common standard will be used to measure towing capacity. The Detroit Three will join Toyota, which adopted the Society of Automotive Engineers' so-called SAE J2807 standards way back in 2011. The standard was originally supposed to be in place for MY2013, but concerns that it would lower the overall stated capacity for trucks led Detroit automakers to pass. Ford originally passed, claiming it'd wait until its new F-150 was launched to adopt the new standards, leading GM and Ram to follow suit. Nissan, meanwhile, has said it will adopt the new standards as its vehicles are updated, meaning the company's next-generation Titan should adhere to the same tow ratings as its competitors. While the adoption of SAE J2807 will be helpful for light-duty customers, those interested in bigger trucks will still be left with differing standards. There is no sign of the new tow standards being adopted for the heavy-duty market.

Meet the Greenest and Meanest vehicles of 2016

Wed, Jan 27 2016

If you've been keeping track, you won't be surprised with the number one entry in this year's list of greenest cars from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). In fact, the top three spots on the 2016 list are all the same as they were in 2015. After that, things get interesting. For one thing, this is the first Greenest list that doesn't have any purely internal combustion engine powertrain on it. Hybrids, yes, but if you want to be one of the top 12 greenest cars this year, you'd better have some sort of electric angle. ACEEE says that the conventional, gas-powered Smart Fortwo and Chevrolet Spark just missed the cut. In a statement, ACEEE lead vehicle analyst Shruti Vaidyanathan said, "The 2016 scores are in, and plug-in electric vehicles are outpacing all other vehicle offerings in terms of environmental friendliness." Like last year, one of the noticeable vehicles missing from the green list is the Tesla Model S. One reason? ACEEE takes curb weight into account (lighter is better), and the Model S is a heavy beast. The ACEEE doesn't just look at the clean side of the ledger. It also puts out a "meanest" list. These are the vehicles that pollute the most, not only from their tailpipes, but also any pollution created during the entire manufacturing process, from mining the raw materials to the energy used to produce the vehicle at the factory. The entire list, from greenest to meanest, is done using a "cradle to grave" analysis. You can see how the ACEEE determines its rankings here, explore the entire greenest cars site here, or click through our galleries to see which vehicles are extra green (above) or extra mean (below) this year. 12: Mercedes-Benz GL550 4MATIC View 12 Photos More Electric Cars than Ever on Greenest Vehicles List Electric Vehicles Nab 9 out of Top 12 Spots in ACEEE's Environmental Vehicle Rankings Washington, DC: Despite a tumultuous year for the automotive industry, manufacturers have continued to offer exciting technology options for a growing vehicle market. Today at greenercars.org, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) released its 19th annual comprehensive environmental ratings for vehicles. The following vehicles comprise the Greenest List for 2016: Greenest Score 1. Mercedes-Benz Smart ForTwo Electric Drive Convertible / Coupe 63 2. Chevrolet Spark EV 63 3. Fiat 500E 62 4. Toyota Prius Eco 61 5. Volkswagen E-Golf 61 6. Nissan Leaf S / Leaf SV 61 7. Kia Soul Electric 59 8.

First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray spotted crashed in the wild

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

This restyled blue 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is wearing manufacturer plates, and it appears to be the same one seen around the internet in various pictures lately. This crash is likely not part of the Chevrolet testing regimen, however. Digital Corvettes forum member gpetry posted the shot with a note: "got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week..." No circumstances are given, other than the incident occurred in the thick of a set of curvy roads, and the coupe ping-ponged off a guardrail and into the rock wall. Hopefully everyone involved in the incident walked away.
It may not be a pretty thing to see, a crashed sports car that's not even available for sale yet, but rest easy. Many pre-production cars are used for development and then unceremoniously crushed and scrapped, anyway. If that's the case here, that makes this wrecked 'Vette less of a tragedy and more of a case of exceptional efficiency.
