1973 Chevrolet Blazer K5 Cheyenne Edition (fully convertible)

All Original Numbers Matching Truck (VIN: CKY183F112792)

Up for sale is this gorgeous 1973 Chevy Blazer K5 Cheyenne Edition. I bought the truck on eBay in August 2013. It was originally a one-owner truck from Arizona with no rust at all. Since then, I restored the entire truck from top to bottom. Here is a list of all the work I had done:

 Appearance:

All new flat black (matte black) paint & clear coat.

All new undercoat paint

All new weatherstripping

All new interior including 3rd row seat (big family) & 8 seat belts. The only convertible in the world that I know that has 3 rows & 8 seat belts.

Brand new wheels & tires (Pacer, BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO 31/10.5/15)

Full Size Spare

Swing Away Spare Tire Arm

Brand new soft top (Softopper)

Brand new radio that looks vintage, but has all the gadgets (UBS, etc)

Brand new truck horn

Brand new windshield

Brand new front & rear bumpers

Brand new side mirrors & rear view mirror

Brand new headlights, tail lights, parking lights & side lights

Mechanical:

All new brake system (drums, rotors, calipers, pads, shoes)

All new steering (bolt joins, pitman arm, tie rod ends, idle arm, adjusting sleeve, steering damper)

All new tune up (spark plugs, wires, thermostat, distributor cap, ignition rotor, PCV Valve, Crank Breather, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Condenser)

New U-Joints on front & rear axle

Upgraded to electric fuel pump system (recommended)

All new belts & hoses

All new fluids (engine oil, transmission oil, axle oil, differential, antifreeze)

All new shocks (KYB)

New electric wiring (where needed)

New Alternator

New Battery (AC Delco)

New Power Steering Pump

New Water Pump

New Radiator

New Exhaust

Rebuilt Transmission

Rebuilt Steering Column (Tilt Wheel)

Rebuild Steering Box

Rebuild 4 barrel carburetor

Wheels balanced & aligned

I'm sure I am forgetting some things,  but you get the picture...all new from the bottom up

In essence, the truck starts, runs, drives, turns & stops perfect with all new parts. No expense spared. I have receipts for all the new parts & work completed. This is like a brand new car in & out. This can serve you as a daily driver or a show car. This truck gets a lot of attention, thumbs up & even people stopping me to ask about it. I invested over $35,000 to get the truck to this point. Own this vintage, full size, convertible Chevy Blazer 4x4. They are becoming more rare by the day. An excellent investment and something you can enjoy daily. Vintage SUVs and Trucks (Bronco, Land Rover, Jeep, Chevy Blazer, GMC Jimmy, Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, etc) are up over 65% in the past three years!!! When I purchased the truck, it came with a salvage title, which doesn’t matter on a 40+ year vehicle. I had no problems registering the truck in New York. The previous seller mentioned in the sale description that the truck was a victim of theft many years ago & nothing was wrong with it when it was recovered. I encourage you to inspect the vehicle before bidding. I am sure you will fall in love with it as much as we have. With any questions, comments or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me by email or at 718-781-5854 BEFORE BIDDING.

Notes:

The 1973 Blazers were radically changed in appearance from previous models.  Major styling features consisted of curved side glass, doors that opened into the roof line, and the elimination of roof drip rails.  Running along the belt line was a sculptured cove.  Along with the very wide and flat load box, it gave the new model very clean and distinctive lines.  A wider interior featured a powered, flow-through ventilation system.  A redesigned dash, with all instruments and controls placed in a semi-circular cluster within easy reach and view of the driver, was adopted.  The steering wheel was reduced in diameter and the wheelbase was lengthed from 104 to 106.5.

The 1973 Blazers had a full-time 4x4 system.

Those with the Cheyenne trim had a chrome circle on the rear fender.

The tailgate came two ways, with the open utility it was like the Fleetside Pickup's gate and when the optional hardtop was ordered, the gate had a manually-operated roll-up window, this eliminated the lift-gate that had been used in older tops.

New energy absorbing steering column.

The Blazer's single-unit body was joined to a heavy channel steel frame and had a completely removable fiberglass top.

The Blazer was designed and marketed to compete with International Harvester Scout and the Ford Bronco. Both of these were originally aimed at the short Jeep CJ series, which were much smaller than other trucks. The great innovation of the Blazer was to simply offer a shortened pickup truck, which both increased interior space, and lowered the cost of production with a shared platform. The Blazer quickly became popular. For the first time, it married the off-road capabilities of the Scout with the "luxury" features like air conditioning and automatic transmissions routinely available on pickup trucks. By 1970, the Blazer was already outselling both of its older rivals. Ford, Dodge, and even Jeep would counter with similar shortened pickups, with the Dodge Ramcharger and Jeep Cherokee. It also came as a convertible”

Next-gen Chevy Volt will get 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine

Tue, Oct 28 2014

As General Motors gets ready to unveil the new Chevy Volt at the Detroit Auto Show in January, it's starting to reveal a few more details about the updated plug-in hybrid. Today should be fruitful on that front, thanks to an event GM is hosting today that focuses on the new Volt, and we've just had the first bit of new: a bigger engine is coming. Since the beginning, the Volt has used a 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine as a range extender when the battery runs dry. The second-generation model will instead get a slightly larger 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that will be built in Flint, MI. That's a step up from the various engines that have been a part of the 2016 Volt's rumored mills, everything from a 1.0-liter or 1.2-liter three-cylinder to a 2.0-liter turbo. The confirmation about the new 1.5-liter powerplant was found in Automotive News, where we also heard again that GM is going to start building the new Volt's electric drive unit in Detroit, moving production up from Mexico. We will have more information on the 2016 Chevy Volt later today.

GMC Canyon, Chevy Colorado diesels finally heading to dealers

Fri, Jan 1 2016

Customers who have been waiting to receive their diesel-powered Chevrolet Colorados and GMC Canyons should be relived to hear that GM will finally start to ship them out of the Wentzville Assembly Plant. "The highly anticipated 2016 GMC Canyon diesel has begun shipping to dealers," a company spokesperson confirmed to The Detroit News. The trucks originally had a fall launch date, but a final review forced a delay in deliveries. The 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel in the midsize trucks produces 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and the company touts the engine's low emissions. The Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board even put the mill through extra scrutiny with a real world test in the wake of VW's diesel scandal, and the Duramax passed with no problems. At that time, a Chevy spokesperson told Autoblog that the models' launch was on track. The Duramax engine adds $3,730 to the price of a comparable V6 model, but they're the most fuel-efficient pickups on the market. The EPA estimates the twins at 31 miles per gallon highway, 22 mpg city, and 25 mpg combined in two-wheel drive form and 29/20/23 with four-wheel drive. Buyers likely can't wait to finally experience these pickups after reading a heap of positive reviews. The Colorado diesel recently earned Motor Trend's Truck of the Year award. We also came away impressed with it during our First Drive and liked the Canyon during our Quick Spin. Related Video:
