Up for sale is my 1972 Chevy Blazer.  This was originally bought in TX and has spent its whole life in either CA/TX (little to no rust).  I bought this 2 years ago from the owner of a mechanics shop.  He had owned it for 10+ years and hadn't driven it a great deal.  I was hoping to use this as a good base to make into my vision of this body style.  Unfortunately, 2 years has gone by and I literally haven't done a single thing to it (and have driven it less than 500 miles myself).  Reality has set in and I realize I may never have the time needed to do the work, so I'm selling and clearing the space in my driveway.  I'll do my best to represent the truck as accurately as possible, but please feel free to ask any questions.

  • 454 crate motor (non-EFI) that I was told was installed about 15 years ago.  There are approximately 20k miles on the motor and 136k on the chassis.
  • Front and rear ends were both rebuilt prior to me buying (~500 miles ago)
  • New rear driveline 500 miles ago
  • New Flowmaster two chamber mufflers 500 miles ago
  • 4" Rancho lift kit
  • 15x8 Mickey Thompson Classic II Locks (simulated bead lock) with 33x12.50x15 Pro Comp X-Terrain Tires.  These have less than 1500 miles on them
  • Double Wall Fiberglass Hardtop - hard to find
  • Front/Rear seats from 1992 Suburban (red)
  • Originally a CST and have the badges if you would like them
All original steel.  I've had no issues other than having to adjust the carb during the various seasons as temps cooled off and came back up. I've listed some of the things I believe may be difficult to gauge from the pics, but are important to note.
  • It needs paint.  It looks fine from farther away, but whoever painted this before me did so likely as a garage project.  It's a fairly weak job and there is no clear cloat or sealant (some paint comes off on towels after washing/driving).
  • The a/c does not work and has not since the 454 was put in.  This can be made to work with an aftermarket bracket.
  • There is no carpet for the interior.  The previous owner looks to have herculined the interior and then painted it over with red (again, a sloppy paint job in my opinion, but is functional)
  • No passenger seatbelt
  • Some cracks in the hardtop near where the interior lights are usually placed (not installed).  If you'd like separate pics, let me know
Otherwise, the truck runs great and is a blast to drive.  I've tried to describe and show as accurately as possible, but please keep in mind this is a 41 year old vehicle and ask any questions you may have prior to bidding.  I think this is a great truck, whether as-is as a fun weekend car or potential base for a restoration or resto-mod.  Thanks for looking and happy bidding!  (Also, I have the truck for sale locally.  I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells).

Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.

Stolen '57 Chevy Returned To Owner After 30 Years

Fri, Feb 21 2014

Three decades after it was stolen, a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air has been returned to a Northern California man - in better shape than when he originally owned it. The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports Ian "Skip" Wilson was shocked to get a call from the California Highway Patrol informing him that his long-lost Chevy was taken off an Australia-bound cargo ship. The 65-year-old says the car has had a lot of work done on it since it disappeared from his Lake County home in 1984. It was returned with a monogrammed interior, 17-inch racing wheels, rack-and-pinion steering and a 350-horsepower V-8 engine. The retired mechanic says the two-door was in sorry shape when he bought it for $375 in 1975 with plans for fixing it up. GM reintroduces Tripower name in the worst way possible

Wed, Aug 1 2018

The story of General Motors' use of the Tripower moniker begins way back in 1957, when Semon E. "Bunkie" Knudsen, then General Manager of GM's Pontiac division, directed his engineers to inject more performance into his brand's line of V8-powered automobiles. Fuel injection was an option, but hot rodders flocked instead to Tri-Power (marketed way back when with a hyphen), which grafted a trio of two-barrel Rochester carburetors onto a single intake manifold. A legend was born. And that legend was born of performance. At idle and when full power wasn't required, Pontiac's Tri-Power system used just the middle carburetor, which helped make the setup easier to tune. Depending on the year and model, either a vacuum system or a mechanical linkage opened up the two outer carbs, thereby switching from two barrels to six, and allowing the engine to take in more fuel and air. And it was an easy marketing win – six barrels is better than four barrels, right? Because performance! So, when news filtered in that GM has resurrected the Tripower name, those of us who grew up attending classic car shows and wrenching on old Pontiacs did a double-take. And then we all collectively sighed. Turns out that today's Tripower refers to a trio of fuel-saving measures that include cylinder deactivation, active thermal management, and intake valve lift control, according to Automotive News. And, at least for now, it applies to GM's line of fullsize trucks powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. We're all for saving fuel whenever possible. And we have zero say in how any automaker chooses to market its products and technologies. But, we'll offer our two cents anyway: Relaunching a storied name from the past is fine. Relaunching a storied name from the past while completely overlooking the reasons the name got famous in the first place is only going to irritate the people who remember the name in the first place. Couldn't they just call this new technology package something else?
