I have beautifully looking, sounding, driving, and handling 1955 Chevy 210 Club Coupe with the Delray Trim Package. This car enjoyed a ground up restoration a little over 5 years ago and has only been driven to and from local car shows. This car has the best of both worlds with all original 1955 Chevy looks but state of the art, late model performance and comfort upgrades. No money was spared in this resto-mod and it rides down the road like my new Lexus. Newly registered, come and get it before an ebay bidder does.

I haven't seen many 55s cleaner than my 55. I would grade this 9.5 out of a 10 and 10 being show car ready. It needs interior windlace trim but I am ordering that now and will replace it. With this type of restoration there is too much to list and make sense of from a $45k restoration but here are the highlights. The new factory tinted glass, 4 wheel power disc brakes, power steering and tubular front suspension makes this car awesome to drive, it feels so good around turns, clovers, or winding roads.

I will sell it but would have preferred a trade for a 1932-1934 three or five window coupe and for this 55 to find a true 50s Delray lover.

Exterior:
- Beautiful Acrylic Urethane factory Neptune Green and white paint job. Body was shaved of all emblems, ornaments, and keyhole before blocked to perfection responsible for its wave free finish. All trim and drive train removed and replaced for painting, and the finish is a 9.9 out of 10.
- New B.F. Goodrich 215/65P-15R Wide Whitewall Tires on new Chrome Rims.
- All new factory tinted glass, windshields, and rubber seals.
- 1 piece bumpers added.

Electrical:

- The electrical system is perfect. A new wiring harness and fuse box was installed and integrated with the Chrome Plated Flaming River Tilt Steering Column and custom steering wheel. All lights work well inside and out, heater and fan controls work well and are smooth in operation.

- Car was converted to a 12V system with a High Output Chrome Alternator. The horn stopped working but I will investigate it. I was also told the Delray model was suppose to have a cigarette lighter but this does not and I have not investigated where it goes.

- Winshield wiper motor is new electric working great.

 Interior:
- Original factory Delray Trim interior that came with the car but is in great condition for its age. Driver's seat repaired but everything else is in good condition. New factory style carpet and floor mats.
- All interior trim painted or polished Sea Mist Green.
- Pioneer AM/FM, CD, Aux, USB, and Bluetooth Stereo with Cellular hands free
- Electric pop trunk button under dash
- Factory trunk mat, spare tire, and bumper jack.

Drive Train:
- Complete Power Steering conversion with new steering box, pitman arm, idler arm and center link.

- Complete 4 Wheel Power Disc Brakes, minimum offset stock spindle wheel kit, rear brake kit for original rear end 8" booster assembly and pre-bent hard line kit. This drastically improves the ride, braking, steering and handling.

- Front Tubular Suspension, heat treated, CNC wound and factory tested front coil springs, performance graphite upper and lower control arm bushings, and bumpstops -- engineered to give superior performance, strut rod bushings, upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rod ends, tie rod adjusting sleeves, and idler arm. Sway bar bushings and end link. Flaming River Chrome Tilt Column.

- T5 5 Speed Transmission with Overdrive, new clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing. Third member was replaced with a fresh rebuilt 3.36:1 gear change to taller gears and the car cruises nicely at 80 to 85 down the highway.

- The underbody of this car remains in great drivers condition free of corrosion. The rear ends 3rd member was detail painted before installation, as well as the T5 Five Speed Transmission. All suspension components were power coated or baked enameled.

This car is one of the best condition cars I've owned or restored. Money was not an issue when resto-modifying this 1955 but not its time for change. I was looking to trade this car for a resto-mod 1930s streetrod of the same or greater value of $30,000. Preferably a 1933 or 1934 Ford. Come drive this car and you'll be amazed at how great this restoration was completed. I can also take this to ANY mechanic you want to inspect this vehicle because I know you can drive this anywhere in the country without fear. Shipping is easy from San Diego area.

Here is a YOU TUBE video of the car.

GM veteran Bryan Nesbitt tapped to head Buick design

Sat, Jun 6 2015

General Motors styling veteran Bryan Nesbitt (pictured above) took over a new role on Monday as executive director of global Buick design and global architectures. Andrew Smith, who previously did that job and also coordinated the look for Cadillac, has remained in charge of the pen at Caddy with this shift. Nesbitt rose to prominence when he designed the Chrysler PT Cruiser, according to Automotive News. He joined GM in 2001 and has been there ever since in multiple high-level roles. In 2007, he was appointed vice president of design for North America and was later briefly general manager of Cadillac in 2009-2010. Nesbitt took over as the vice president of GM's international operations design in China in 2011. This shuffle also moves Ken Parkinson, currently styling boss for Chevrolet trucks, to China as design vice president there. In addition, John Cafaro becomes the person in charge of the look for Chevy globally, rather than previously splitting that role between cars and trucks with Parkinson. GM Global Design Leadership Changes – effective June 1, 2015. Bryan Nesbitt, Design Vice President, GM China will repatriate to North America and assume the position of Executive Director, Global Buick and Global Architectures. He will be located in Warren, MI. Bryan will be the design Champion for Buick in the US and China. Ken Parkinson, Executive Director, Global Chevrolet Trucks and Global Architecture will assume the position of Design Vice President, GM China. He will be based in Shanghai, China. Andrew Smith, Executive Director, Global Cadillac and Buick Design will assume the position of Executive Director, Global Cadillac. He will continue to be the design Champion for the Cadillac brand. In addition, he will continue to lead the Global Color & Trim team. He will be based in Warren, Michigan. John Cafaro, Executive Director, Global Chevrolet Cars will assume the position of Executive Director, Global Chevrolet. He will be the design Champion for Chevrolet. In addition, John will lead the exterior components and accessories team. He will continue to be based in Warren, MI. The roles and responsibilities of Helen Emsley, Mark Adams, Carlos Barba, Clay Dean, Michael Simcoe, and Teckla Rhoades remain the same. Next-gen Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra may use carbon fiber

Thu, Dec 7 2017

It's been generally accepted that the next generation of full-size GM trucks will use some sort of strong, lightweight material for the beds while retaining steel for the cab. While aluminum seems like the most obvious choice, according to Automotive News, the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra will incorporate both aluminum and carbon fiber in their beds. The publication cites sources from within GM, though it seems the introduction of this comparatively exotic material mix is still a few years off. While carbon fiber is both stronger and lighter than steel and aluminum, it takes significantly more time and money to produce, essentially relegating the material to small-volume cars. The main benefit for trucks is the resulting reduction in weight to improve fuel economy without sacrificing the tough, rugged capabilities truck buyers expect. The Ford F-150 made the switch to aluminum for the 2015 model year and it's proved highly successful. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before the competition followed suit. Automotive News says that the next-gen trucks will launch with aluminum beds and that it will take a couple of years before we'll see any carbon fiber incorporated into the design. Even then, only look for the composite material on higher-trim models, with a trickle down to lower-spec trucks possible further in the future. In 2011, GM announced it was working with Japan-based Teijin Limited on a carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic. There's a good chance that material's introduction will be on trucks. Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
