53 Chevy 2 Door Post Sedan 210 Original Patina Very Solid Clear Title on 2040-cars
Lothian, Maryland, United States
I've looked at a hundred of these cars and this one is very nice as far as they go. The paint is shot, the chrome is shot, the patina is excellent. I wanted to build a hot rod gasser out of this with shiny paint and chrome but it's too good to touch. If it doesn't sell I will upgrade the drive train, repair the front seat, and replace all of the chrome. The worn original paint just looks too cool to disturb. The front fenders have been blended at one time or another, which looks fine with mostly original paint every where else. No one has ever spray bombed the firewall and the jambs are factory fresh. The trunk floor is super solid with original paint under the original trunk mat. Same goes for the floors with original rubber mat up front and carpet in the rear. When I got this car a year ago it still had the original dealer installed seat covers that had been there for 60 years. I removed them to find all of the original factory upholstery is still there. The front bottom cushion has a split in the cover and the top layer of foam is brittle, replace the one inch thick foam and about 3 yards of reproduction cloth and you are back in business. All of the interior pieces are original and still there although faded and somewhat distressed from age. Door panels are good but old as is the headliner with no rips but dirty looking from age. Pat the gas 3 times it starts right up and runs like a top. This car is very tight driving, only needs a few tweaks to motor on for several more years. The wiring harness has never been cut on or messed with. All of the original bolts are where they should be and all the rubbers and weather strips are present. This looks like a well cared for 56,000 mile car. Oil change stickers in the door jamb back to 1957! Radio delete, wind up clock works, fuel gauge works, ammeter works, oil pressure gauge works, temp gauge does not. New brakes, exhaust and battery before I got it. Brake pedal sometimes hangs up, should be easy fix. This car is tagged and insured, I drive it regularly. 53s and 54s are very popular and desirable but hard to find in this condition. A better one costs 15K or more. There is a half dollar size rust hole under the front seat on the drivers side and a silver dollar size hole under the back seat on the passenger side. The body mount under this hole has some rust. That is the only rust in the car. It has never had a patch panel anywhere. Don't miss the opportunity to have an ultra cool driver with real patina .Cragars are currently on the car and go with it. I ran the stock wheels and then the Moon discs for a short time but I like the Cragars the best. Call 240 375 4329 with any questions. Thanks.

Common Dodge Ram 1500 vs. Chevrolet Silverado breakdowns
Wed, May 4 2016These two trucks are famous for their ability to get the job done. Still, even the toughest vehicle can have mechanical problems at some time. What if we match the Dodge Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado head to head? Let's find out more about common repairs for each model. Also, learn some tricks to pay for car repairs. Clunky Steering Both Dodge and the Chevy owners sometimes notice bumping and clunking when steering. This might be more noticeable when driving over bumps. The cause is usually different in each truck though. In the Dodge Ram, clunky steering is more likely due to a defective lower ball joint. Replacement costs around $300 - $400, parts and labor. Clunky Chevy Silverado steering is probably a steering rack failure. This problem appears more often in trucks with over 90,000 miles. Silverado steering rack repair will run you up to $1,000 or more. Starting Woes For the Chevy Silverado with over 130,000 miles, you might notice trouble starting. This problem may appear occasionally at first, but it typically gets worse. Excluding a weak battery, the culprit is usually the starter. Replacement will cost you around $330 - $500. Of the total cost, $90 is for labor only. Now the Dodge Ram might make a ticking sound when starting, especially on models with over 94,500 miles. The noise often disappears after the engine warms up. These symptoms may indicate a broken exhaust manifold. Repair costs range from $800 - $900. Burning Oil & Gas Gauge On The Blink Sometimes, the Dodge Ram burns oil much faster than normal. In models with over 125,000 miles, this often points towards a leaky intake manifold gasket. A knocking sound may also appear with acceleration along with possible engine misfire. The cost to repair is around $200 - $300. The Chevy Silverado has its own surprises, especially when you've filled the gas tank but the gauge still reads low. Or the needle fluctuates widely from low to full while driving. In trucks with over 120,000 miles, it's likely due to a faulty fuel sensor. You might need a full fuel pump replacement, which can cost you up to $820, parts and labor. Water Inside And Poor Heat The Ram 1500 rear window has been known to leak. You might notice the back seat and floor wet after a rainstorm. This is more common in trucks with over 65,000 miles. Resealing the Ram 1500 rear window costs around $150 - $250.
GM cutting production at two plants
Thu, Feb 26 2015General Motors is continuing to adjust to excess supply of some of its brands' models. To get production more in line with the vehicles' actual demand, the automotive giant is idling two of its factories in North America in the coming months. The Orion Assembly plant is going to be down from March 9-13, according to an anonymous plant worker and another insider speaking to Automotive News. The factory builds the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, but there are plenty of both models sitting on dealer lots, including 216 days worth of Sonics, according to AN. The factory already had two idle periods announced to reduce the excess. In addition, downtime is scheduled at GM's "Flex" line at the Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, plant from April 13-17. This affects supply of the Chevrolet Camaro, Impala, Buick Regal and Cadillac XTS. Among them, the automotive giant has the largest supply of Regals ready for dealers with 213 days worth of them, according to AN. The future for the whole Oshawa factory is cloudy in general, though. There are rumors that it could close entirely in the future because the Camaro is leaving and the Regal and XTS might not last much longer than 2017. The Canadian government and the labor union there intend to put up a fight, though. Chevy's low-cost pedestrian avoidance to debut on 2016 Malibu
Tue, Jul 28 2015The mainstreaming of safety technologies that began on luxury vehicles will get a big boost from General Motors later this year. The General says it plans to offer 22 driver assistance systems across its product portfolio of 2016 models, starting with the redesigned Chevrolet Malibu - the one that we know will keep tabs on teenagers for the benefit of parents. Pedestrian avoidance will be another of its available options. Instead of kitting the sedan out with numerous and expensive radar arrays, the GM system uses the camera mounted next to the rearview mirror that is already used for the lane-keeping function. New software lets it detect pedestrians, and when it detects a potential collision with one, it can alert the driver and brake autonomously if the driver doesn't react. Eventually, engineers want to give it the ability to do the same with cyclists. Because it uses existing hardware updated with new code, GM says the application costs "a few hundred dollars." GM demonstrated the Front Pedestrian Braking preventing a crash with a dummy pedestrian at speeds up to 15 miles per hour. Automotive News reports that it will reduce the severity of impact up to 40 miles per hour, but "may not be of much use in collisions at higher speeds." That feature will also join the options list of the Cadillac CT6. The press release below has more on GM's driver tech soon on the way. Related Video: GM Paving Way to Smarter and Safer Driving at All-New Active Safety Test Area 22 crash-avoidance technologies offered on 2016 Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac models MILFORD, Mich. 2015-07-24 – Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac will offer 22 different active safety technologies across their 2016 model year U.S. lineups, ranging from driver alerts to those that automatically intervene and assist the driver in critical situations. Safety engineers will develop and test these and other safety technologies for products around the world at GM's new, 52-acre Active Safety Test Area at its Milford Proving Ground near Detroit. The $14 million facility officially opened Friday. "Our comprehensive safety strategy of helping customers before, during and after a crash continues," said Jeff Boyer, vice president of GM Global Vehicle Safety.
