1962 BelAir Bubbletop Sport Coupe. Authentic and all there. Just at the junction in time to do
a restoration right the way the buyer feels fit.....or drive it Rat as I have.
This is a pretty straight survivor, an original V8 equipped automatic transmission car.
327 with 3 speed auto. The car runs and drives. I take it out from time to time.
We have owned this car for 4 years and have kept it in storage inside at all times never left outside once.
It was a barn find in Illinois. We bought it and had it "new car" carried here.
It has a 1986 L-82 Corvette aluminum manifold
with a new Edlebrock carburetor and air cleaner which were there when we bought it.
Otherwise all stock except for the exhaust (as far as I know).
The 327 runs pretty beefy for stock so I suspect a cam change. Nice idle.
I don't know if the engine has been worked but it is very very clean inside.
All fluids are clear and the right color. Good power steering and battery.
This car has never been offered for sale by us.
White exterior (Ermine white) Aqua interior (Both factory colors).
Most of the interior panels are present mostly intact but worn .
Front and back seats need recovering.
Any trim missing, panels, etc are included and carefully stored.
I have removed the interior and outer trim to begin the chemical paint removal process.
Screws are in baggies marked.
The top has no dents and the body has very few.
There is a dent in the drivers side front fender by the bumper.
The rest of the car is straight and workable as is. No replacement panels and minimum bondo.
There is rust and it will need to be addressed. Areas will need to be replaced.
It is well worth the effort remember I bought it no regrets.
California style one piece bumpers came on this car from the factory. It has a 3 piece on the front now.
The original front bumper was stolen before we bought it and we have a replacement
to go with as well as the mounts.
Both bumpers will be included, the one presently on the car and the one piece replacement we bought.
The windshield has been replaced (it was cracked).
We bought 1962  6" station wagon wheels for it which are on the car. 409 offset add ons.
The American Racing (centerline style) wheels it came with are here if you want them with car
as are the fender skirts. There is a picture near the end showing the car the way we got it.
Radio and lighter delete. Power seat.Power steering. All glass present. Needs headliner and carpet.
Just about everything works but the left rear directional..bad ground?
That being the horn, all headlights and tailights ,dash lights, power seat
windshield wipers all work..the gas gauge is squirrelly though and reads full when it isn't
Had a new tank and straps and I haven't pulled it to troubleshoot..
This was my project car for retirement. I intended to keep it so I have treated it well.
The car is drive-able and fully functional as is and has been registered each year with no taxes due.
It currently has no insurance because my insurance company cancels it.
It has shorty bullet glass packs and no pipes just mufflers.
It runs pretty good but a 409 would do it justice.
It needs restoration and has rust especially in the side pockets and rear lower quarters.
The hood and trunk lid are eaten through at the very front and back
There are a few holes here and there but all is repairable.
The corner under the left tailight is rusted out completely
The trunk has rust deterioration poking through at the very front inside. about a 1/2 inch.
I have a trunk cut from an original car as well as a left rear quarter from an original car.
I have had body guys look at this and they told me it wasn't that bad, it looks worse than it is.
There are also extra parts just in case.
I removed the interior 2 weeks ago and it is all in boxes neatly identified as is the outer body trim.
This is an ideal 409 project car as it is originally a V8 build.
I don't think the rear is a posi trac as I see no P. I don't know the ratio.
There is a lot more invested and I am trying to be as thorough as space allows without going on and on.
I have changed direction in how I want to invest in our future.
This was to be my retirement project until this week.
I love this car. This is a tough decision, and no this is not a sales tactic this is tough.
I am not bailing on this because of anything I found or the work involved
or being short on cash or because we're in a bind.
I have other opportunities presented to me this week out of the blue
that I have chosen to pursue. It will require a substantial investment,
more than we have on hand so I need the capital soon.
I am listing this opening price and it is already less than invested.
I will not accept less so please don't offer I will say no.
I don't want to hear your reasons why either.

I will only list this once for 7 days. This is a one shot deal and as close as I
have ever gotten to selling it. I have never even entertained the thought.
If this auction runs out without a bid then I will not see it as priced too high because it isn't.
That means I won't re-list for less
I know how eBay works having been a Top Seller for 5 years.
No re-list for less this time so don't hold your breath.
I will take it as a sign I am to keep it and restore it.
This is how I will decide what I am to do.
If it doesn't sell this listing I will restore and keep it
and not pursue the before mentioned deal and let it go.
The opening bid is $2500 less than I bought the car for
with windshield wheels and transport added it's more.
I also bought the California bumper for the front and the extra stuff. So price is not negotiable.
Already got a guy on the line that has broken most of these rules below I am ready to block.
On that note:
Let's deal with attitude. No pros that love to humiliate buyers (I know you're out there)
Don't talk me down and run me ragged. I have a life too and my time is just as important to me.
No bullies or cons, period. I am a good guy and this is a real deal and not your play hole.
I will block you and there will be no further discussion concerning the car.Play nice.
I need a real buyer with cash that plays ZERO games such as
"after the sale BS fault finding" to lower the price.
or "cut me a better deal" people before the auction ends
or when you get here to pick up the car "put you on the spot" types.
I know you traveled a long way but no I will not pay your expenses if you are disappointed
and no I will not cut you a better deal afterwards because it's not what you were looking for.
It never is what you were expecting for you guys and I'm not playing your stupid game.
I try to be straight up with everyone and if you can't help but feel like you
had to screw me to pat yourself on the back stay far far away.
I will not tolerate any behavior that is not respectful, straight foward and honest.
You shove you will leave here empty handed....I promise.
I don't care how many $20's you wave under my nose
Now as for the rest of you good people that are left ( I know you're out there too).
You're the guy I hope buys this car, somebody that deserves it:
There are a number of people that have expressed interest in purchasing this car.
But then there always are.....every time I drive it. Most are still dreaming,
I would prefer you come here and get the car with your own trailer or flatbed personally.
I would like to meet you and shake your hand and I would prefer real cash on the barrel head.
That's what I would prefer anyway. That may not be realistic.
Transport is your responsibility entirely. Whatever works for you.
Cash or USPS Money Orders are preferred but by whatever payment method
it must clear our bank first before I will release title
We have a local bank that is old school and they wait
two weeks sometimes to clear checks. Truth.
There are no hidden problems or mechanical problems and
the car has been babied since we got it.
I have had a bunch of off eBay offers already. We will run the auction to the end.
Highest bidder will win it. If you don't bid and wait till after it is not for sale
as I explained in my description above. I mean it. No trades or partial trades.
If you want this car bid, I will not do anything with you if you don't.

This is an amazing find for the right person, a real reward in life.
That's how I see it and that's how it is. Respect that fact we'll get along fine.
Everything I have stated is true and to the best of my ability I have been forthright.
I have faithfully maintained my ownership and offer this to you, the next guy.
Good Luck!

Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th

Tue, 15 Apr 2014

It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.

Callaway debuts its new C7 Stingray at National Corvette Museum

Fri, 02 May 2014

Callaway showed off its first tuned version of the 2014 Corvette Stingray at the National Corvette Museum last week, giving the rampant enthusiasts of America's sports car a look at the roughly 620-horsepower, supercharged rocket.
Unlike the Corvette SC610 we showed you back in January, this Stingray packs a fair bit more oomph. Horsepower is only up ten ponies, but torque has jumped from 556 pound-feet to "at least" 600 pound-feet. Neither horsepower nor torque is official quite yet, although Callaway is expecting to know just what its creation can do once testing and validation is completed later this month.
The 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 now boasts a new, three-element intercooler, which Callaway claims only allowed the inlet air temperature to increase by ten degrees Fahrenheit during dyno runs. Previous designs saw a 35-degree-Fahrenheit jump. The exhaust system has also been fettled with, and now is even less restrictive.

Helicopter crashes on Top Gear Korea set while chasing Corvette ZR1

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

The formula of Top Gear Korea is seemingly about the same as it is everywhere else in the world, including the flagship British original: involve interesting cars in fantastical situations with charismatic hosts. That prescription has proved to be pretty reliable over the years, and has lead to some truly memorable and exciting pieces of television.
Something like that was undoubtedly what the Korean producers were after when they lined up this segment - a drag race between a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and an AH1 Cobra military helicopter. The planners almost certainly did not expect the filming of the segment to go quite as wrong as it actually did, with the helicopter actually crashing into the dirt after the "drag race" had been completed. Thankfully, we're told that no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the footage, in the video below, is pretty damn chilling to watch, nevertheless.
