1960 Bel Air Hot 2013 Rod Power Tour Car This car began as a one owner 63k mile southern Georgia car. Been in Georgia its whole life. Bought new at Pickett Chevrolet in Cedartown, Georgia just a couple miles north of here. Perfect patina sounds awesome. If you see 4 door and say no way, you need to look a little closer. This Is not your normal old 4 door car. This car draws a crowd wherever I go in it. It turns heads from little old ladies to soccer moms. This is one of the coolest long haul cars I have owned. Body and frame are solid as a rock. All new floors and trunk floor. Car has less than 2000 miles since build. Under the hood is a all new 355 cu in engine Comp thumpr cam Edelbrock intake and old school valve covers Headman headers Alan grove brackets Msd hei ignition New summit racing carb New altenator,battery,water pump,fuel pump R-134 cold A/C Champion aluminum radiator Classic performance 500 series power steering gear Firewall was stripped and painted turquoise all detailed and very clean 700R4 freshly built Lokar linkage to column shifter Drilled and slotted rotors on cpp dropped spindles New shocks all the way around as well as entire brake system is new Coys 20's on rear 18's on front with all new tires Flowmaster 40 series exhaust with caddilac tips with side exit hits a hard lick and sounds wicked Interior is custom and is all new and designed to match the theme of the car New headliner and carpet from year one Seats and door panels custom and super comfy Pioneer radio system with remote two speakers in rear and two in the front kick panels sounds great All electrical works You can drive this car anywhere with one finger on the wheel. This car was drove on the 2013 hot rod power tour. I have the original bill of sale where this car was bought new and a receipt for the check that the woman wrote for the car. This is one great car. GM cutting Chevy Sonic, Buick Verano production by more than 20%
Sat, Jun 13 2015General Motors' Orion Assembly plant in Michigan is seeing even more production cuts this year to further reduce inventories of the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano. These latest adjustments mean layoffs for about 100 workers in phases starting in July. "GM Orion Assembly will adjust plant production capacity to better align with market demand," the company said in a statement announcing the change. Through May, sales of the Sonic are down 28.5 percent to 29,082 vehicles, and the Verano is off 15.6 percent, with 15,279 sold this year. According to unnamed plant insiders speaking to Automotive News, the assembly rate is slowing at Orion Assembly from the current 33 cars an hour down to 26 an hour, a 21-percent reduction. GM is also reportedly going to keep the plant idle for three weeks during the normal summer shutdown, rather than the usual two. Earlier in the year, the factory was idled for two weeks due to excess supply of the Sonic and Verano. In March, it was closed again for several days for the same reason. The Orion Assembly plant is the future home to the line for the Chevy Bolt EV. GM Statement: GM Orion Assembly will adjust plant production capacity to better align with market demand. A phased layoff of approximately 100 employees will begin in July 2015 and conclude by year-end. The Opel GT is the concept General Motors should build for the US
Sat, Feb 27 2016Now is the time. General Motors should double-down on performance cars and build the Opel GT concept that's set to debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show. Better yet, sell it in the United States as the Chevy GT. Consumers are showing a thirst for performance cars not seen in decades. Ford has them coming in waves, with everything from the F-150 Raptor to a hotted-up Fusion. FCA US is unrepentantly building loads of Hellcats. GM should respond. The General's cupboard is hardly bare. With the Corvette, Camaro, and Cadillac's V-Series, GM has more than enough to compete with its crosstown rivals and anything Europe or Japan can throw at it. But there's also an opportunity. There's not many front-mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive, two-seat sports cars out there like the Opel GT concept. A Chevy GT that used that layout and captured some of the concept car's proportions and curves would ignite a different kind of passion in enthusiasts. It would be Miata-like. With Chevy branding, this sports car would be the everyday exotic. The concept has a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine, which makes about 143 horsepower to motivate a structure that weighs less than 2,200 pounds. It can hit 60 miles per hour in less than eight seconds. All of those numbers are within the front-engined Miata's territory. This new Opel is inspired by two great mid-1960s concepts that helped put its design studio, and that of its sister brand, the British Vauxhall, on the map. (The GT concept is also technically a Vauxhall, as the brands are linked in GM's European strategy.) One of them, the '66 Vauxhall XVR remained a concept. The '65 Opel Experimental GT was on the road by 1968. That shows this is doable. There's precedent. The Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice shared a chassis with a modern GT during that trio's brief run. If GM ever makes this concept, Opel and Vauxhall should get their versions. But Chevy is the one that could make this car a global icon. Chevrolet GT. Make it happen. News & Analysis News: The potential return of the Ford Bronco is generating a ton of attention. Analysis: That's not news, per se. But when the Bronco6G.com fan site did a rendering of a next-generation Bronco, it almost broke the Internet. Everyone from Automotive News to Jalopnik picked up the illustrations.
