This Is the nicest 59 Chevy I have seen in quite some time. There are 54 pictures so please give it time to load it will be worth the wait. The car has air ride on it so there are 3 different heights the car is positioned in in the pictures . This will give you an Idea of the car at ride height and also lowered. It is a three year complete frame off restoration. The car was completely taken apart put on a rotisserie and stripped to bare metal and there wasn’t a spot of rot in the car anywhere. The car was a west coast car all its life until I bought it. All the body panels, floor pans, and trunk pan are the original to the car. I have restored many cars in my lifetime and this is the cleanest one I ever started with. No rust anywhere. The car is painted black and it’s the black they use to make black paint. The paint is show quality and the body is so so straight there isn’t a ripple anywhere it looks wet. It takes alot of guts to paint a big car with all these curves and rolls but we did it and its fantastic. All the trim on the car has been chromed not polished and I’ll tell you it really looks great against the black paint just look at the pictures and the reflections of the back ground in the paint. This car is unreal and it looks better in person. The car was completely Dyna matted on the inside and the underside was done in Lizard skin this car is so quiet when you’re in it you don’t hear any outside noise. The frame was also stripped smoothed and painted and the suspension has top and bottom tubular A-Arms and tubular trailing arms. The low great stance comes from the four corner air ride by Air Ride Technologies. The sound of the car is a deep throaty sound created by the powder coated dual exhaust and two sets of mufflers. The Motor is a LS 1 with approximately 4000 miles on it and it has been detailed and also has a chrome intake on it that really looks fantastic along with the show quality black paint in the engine compartment and all the other accessories like ceramic coated headers, the polished Billet Tru Tac front system with polished compressor and Alternator, smoothed out injector covers, and a polished Be Cool Aluminum Radiator. The air conditioning lines are run under the passenger side wheel well. Im telling you the engine and compartment is so clean you almost need sunglass to look at it. The transmission is the 6 speed T 56 trans and has the new style shifter in the car with a hydraulic clutch. It shifts like butter and really is fun to drive. The interior is finished in a red and black leather like interior that looks great and is very comfortable. Air conditioning ,Tilt wheel with an Ididit chrome steering column, Billet custom steering wheel, fantastic sound system, interior accent lights inside and under the motor that really gives the car an outstanding look when it gets dark outside, a new digital Dakota instrument cluster that sits in the unmistakable 59 dash and the really nice tight weave Daytona carpet really makes the interior of this car a show piece. A complete new wiring Harness was installed and there is over 11 days just in wiring this beauty. The Billet 22’’ and 20''wheels look great with the four wheel Corvette disc brakes and the drilled and slotted rotors behind them. There is so much more to say about this car that I could write a book so if you have any questions please call me a 330-353-0959.This car rides ,drives and handles as good as any new one on the market. My first choice is to sell the car but I might consider a trade but it’s got to be a car of the same caliber or don’t offer it. Please send you trade pictures to dadofcars@yahoo.com and call 330-353-0959 I’m not in any hurry to sell this car in fact I’m really not sure I want to sell it like I said it took over three years to build and I know there is not another 59 like it anywhere. The car is sold as is and I do reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. A $2000.00 non refundable deposit is required at the end of the auction and the balance within 5 days. If shipping is needed I do have a shipper that I use and he is very dependable and reasonable. I welcome you to make an appointment and come see this outstanding pro touring 59 Belair you won’t be disappointed. This is a very nice car and there is a lot of time and money in this car and I’m not looking to give it away. The car was just appraised by Jason E. Hephner from International Vehicle Appraisers Network at a value of $169,000.00. I’m not saying that’s what I’m asking for the car but that’s the quality of the car. It is one of the finest. Please call 330-353-0959 Thanks Steve

Peter Max staring down $1M lawsuit over Corvette collection sale

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Pop artist Peter Max recently sold off his collection of 36 vintage Chevrolet Corvettes – one each from 1953 to 1989 – for an undisclosed amount. The new owners have already announced plans to restore some of them and auction the models off sometime soon. Up until then, the sports cars had been languishing in various garages around New York City for decades and were caked in dust and grime. However, Max's end of the transaction has just become more complicated, because two men are suing the artist claiming he employed them to complete the deal first. The men allege that Max hired them to broker the sale of the 36 Corvettes in exchange for a 10-percent commission, according to the New York Post. They claim to have emails and text messages proving the existence of the deal, and are taking Max to court for $1 million over the squabble. The collection of Corvettes was amassed in 1989 as part of a prize package from the television network VH1, and Max bought the cars from the winner intending on using them for an art project. He never got around to it, though, and parked the sports cars around New York, until he finally sold them over the summer.

Chevy gets cracking on Cruze EV fleet testing

Chevrolet Cruze EV - Click above for high-res image gallery
The Chevrolet Volt hasn't yet gone on sale, but General Motors is looking at ways of expanding its electric vehicle lineup. Chevy, along with partner LG, is employing a group of all-electric cars in the form of the Cruze. The sedans are part of a demonstration fleet which is located in Seoul, South Korea and is being used to provide data in an electric vehicle research project. The goal is to gather information on driving patterns and charging behavior in addition to consumer acceptance.
The Cruze EVs, along with some Daewoo Lacetti Premieres EVs, are the first fleet of full-size electric vehicles and should provide invaluable information for The General. Staying full-size means not sacrificing cargo space, so the battery pack is mounted to the underbody, leaving the trunk area open for plenty recyclable, canvas grocery bags.

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.
