Recent Paint, Interior, and Windshield

Offered for sale is one of America's most desirable cars...the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air.  The Bel Air was the highest model, and this is the 2 door post model. As you can see in the photos, it's a good looking car.  The trim is intact, the body looks great, and the interior has been redone. It has been raining here for the past few days, so I put off taking pictures, but the forecast shows more rain, so I decided to go ahead and take them. The car is shiny when it's not wet.  It's paint is smooth, no visible rust or bubbles, and the glass is all good.  The windshield and rubber seal were replaced last week, so they're perfect.  I tried to get a picture from every angle so you can see how it all lines up.  It can be driven just like it is, and you can fly in and drive it home if you are the adventurous type.  The car starts easily, idles well, steers, shifts, and stops like it should.  It has a great sounding small block V-8 with dual exhaust.  Not loud, but sounds excellent. I don't know if it's a 283, 327, or 350. It could very well be the original engine...but  I don't know. It has a 3 speed automatic transmission, which replaced the factory Powerglide.

The interior was replaced and looks good, as seen in the pictures.  The headliner, door panels, and carpet all look great.  It's a car you can buy and drive without having to do a lot of work to it.  It's a good 5-10 footer, but if you've tried to find cheap 57 Chevys, it's near impossible. I don't have access to a lift, so I can't get photos of the underneath.  The trunk, areas around the windshield and rear window, and the cowl and firewall all look solid.

The car is being listed to be sold.  Please, no games or dreamers. You either want the car and can pay for it, or you can't.  Let's not make this harder than it has to be.  If you want to see it first, please inspect BEFORE the auction ends.  You're bidding to win, not to set up a future date to look it over.  Serious buyers will know what to do.  I can add a Buy it Now if you want me to do that, or I can end the auction early for those who just can't wait.  I'll help any way that I can. I can send additional pictures if you send me your email address, and I can't get you in touch with the owner if there's anything you need to speak to him about.  I have a clean, clear title in hand that's ready to hand off to the new owner.  The car will not leave my possession until all funds have cleared.  If we agree on a price and I end the auction early, the payment should come quickly.  If you want to wait and see how the auction turns out, that's your call.  I don't think it will go the full 7 days, but time will tell.  These 57s are getting harder and harder to find.

You can reach me at northshorebill@aol.com, or call/text me at 941-740-2277.  Texts and emails usually get a quicker response than calls.

The car is located in Port Charlotte...about 90 miles south of Tampa on Florida's Gulf Coast. I am about 10 miles off of I-75, so driving it home or shipping. It will be quick and painless to get on the road heading home.  Thanks for looking, and Happy Bidding !!!

On Jun-05-14 at 10:20:22 PDT, seller added the following information:

Just a quick update.  Two people felt the need to write and say the car is a 210, and not a Bel Air.  They say there is chrome missing, which is possible.   They say it should have more.  That's possible too.  When I wrote them back, I didn't get a reply.  I'm going by the VIN or serial number, if you prefer it to be called that. It starts with a "V".  That means it was a factory V-8 car.  6 cylinder cars started with an A, B, or C...not a V.  A= a 150 model, B= a 210 model, and C= a Bel Air.  This is a VC car, and shown on the serial number plate photo from inside the driver's door.  I didn't go by the chrome that is or isn't there...I went by the actual number of the car.  You decide for yourself.  I'm going with the facts that I can prove.

REAL Bel Air, REAL V-8 CAR.

LOWERED RESERVE!!!  Don't miss out, it looks like the car will sell.  I can end the auction early for the right price.  If no one offers that price, the auction will go to the end and everyone can bid what they feel it's worth to them.  Good Luck

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee teases return with a Countach

Fri, May 29 2015

Unless you have an intense aversion to Jerry Seinfeld, it's hard not to find something to like about his show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. After all, the series combines funny people telling often hilarious stories while riding in ridiculously cool vehicles. The trailer for the sixth season is now online, and based on this tease, this definitely looks worth watching no matter what part of the videos interest you. Of course, it's the automotive portion that really grabs us, and Seinfeld has quite a fleet to showcase for season six. The trailer shows off a Lamborghini Countach, a '57 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible, a classic Volkswagen Beetle in the green and white German Polizei livery, a Morgan, an Aston Martin DB5, and a Ferrari 308. On the more humorous side of things, the guest list at least includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jim Carrey, Steve Harvey, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher and upcoming host of The Daily Show Trevor Noah. Season six of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee premieres on Crackle on Wednesday, June 3, at 11:30 PM ET.

The USPS needs 180,000 new delivery vehicles, automakers gearing up to bid

Wed, Feb 18 2015

Winning the New York City Taxi of Tomorrow tender was a huge prize for Nissan, even though the company is still working through the process of claiming its prize. The United States Postal Service has begun the process to take bids for a new delivery vehicle to replace the all-too-familiar Grumman Long Life Vehicle, and that will be a much larger plum for the automaker who wins it, perhaps worth more than six billion dollars. The Grumman LLV is an aluminum body covering a Chevrolet S-10 pickup chassis and General Motors' Iron Duke four-cylinder engine. The USPS bought them from 1987 to 1994, and the 163,000 of them still in service are a monumental drain on postal resources: they get roughly ten miles to the gallon instead of the quoted 16 mpg, drink up more than $530 million in fuel each year, and their constant repair needs like the balky sliding door and leaky windshields have led the service to increase the annual maintenance budget from $100 million to $500 million. A seat belt is about as modern as it gets for safety technology, and the USPS says that assuming things stay the same, it can't afford to run them beyond 2017. Last year it put out two triage requests for proposals seeking 10,000 new chassis and drivetrains for the Grumman and 10,000 new vehicles. The LLV is also too small for the modern mail system in which package delivery is growing and letter delivery is declining. The service says it doesn't have a fixed idea of the ideal "next-generation delivery vehicles," but it listed a number of requirements in its initial request and is open to any proposal. Carriers have some suggestions, though, saying they want better cupholders, sun visors that they can stuff letters behind, a driver's compartment free of slits that can swallow mail, and a backup camera. The request for information sent to automakers pegs the tender at 180,000 vehicles that would cost between $25,000 and $35,000 apiece, and it will hold a conference on February 18 to answer questions about the contract. GM is the only domestic maker to avow an interest, while Ford and Fiat-Chrysler have remained cagey. Yet with a possible $6.3 billion up for grabs and some new vans for sale that would be advertised on every block in the country, we have a feeling everyone will be listening closely come February 18. We also have a feeling the LeMons series is going to be flooded with Grummans come 2017. News Source: Wall Street Journal, Automotive News - sub.

Forza Motorsport 6's new drivable Hot Wheels cars are the best

Tue, May 3 2016

Each month, Turn 10 Studios releases a new car pack for the latest installment of its Forza Motorsport video game. Sometimes that means less-than-exciting stuff coming to our Xbox Ones – BMW X6M, bleh – but this time our inner seven-year-old is beyond ecstatic. Two of the seven cars are based on actual Hot Wheels models. And. They're. Awesome. First we have the 2011 Hot Wheels Bone Shaker. Yes, there are flames on the side. And yes, there's a giant skull where the grille should be. This one came from the imagination of "Mr. Hot Wheels" Larry Wood, whose design was so popular it inspired an actual real-world creation. Like all good things in this world, it's powered by a small-block Chevy V8. Oh, and it has no roof. This will be a popular one among gamers. The other digitized Hot Wheels creation is a 2005 Ford Mustang. A modest vehicle, sure, but the toy designers have festooned this pony car with a wild paint scheme and the body mods to emphasize it. Originally developed to celebrate the 'Stang's 50th birthday, this Hot Wheels car trades Americana for wild Japanese style. There's just one functioning life-size version of this car in existence as well, but if you look hard, you might be able to find one of the 1:64 scale models that inspired it. Other highlights from this month's car pack include the latest Ford Focus RS – finally time to replace that NASCAR-V8-powered, all-wheel-drive 2009 Focus RS – the 2015 McLaren P1 GTR, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS, the aforementioned X6M, and Alain Prost's 1990 Ferrari 641 F1 car. The Hot Wheels Car Pack is available for download today.
