1957 Chevy Bel Air 2 Door Hardtop California Boxed Frame Power Steering Brakes on 2040-cars

OK, first of all so we are all clear, there is no VIN and no Title to this vehicle or its parts. I'm calling it a parts car or a builder if you have your own title. This was purchased to be restored and after blasting it we have decided to go in a different direction. It is a California boxed frame car, 1957 Bel Air 2 door hardtop. The body and all sheetmetal has been professionally blasted and Epoxy primered at a cost of 2,500. The chassis is original with a very rare 283 not sure if it is original to the chassis, with power steering and power brakes, all these parts are included as well as what is on the pallet in the picture. Also included is a full new floorpan from Ecklers from rocker to rocker and front to back, this cost 1,200. You also get a new decklid from Ecklers that cost 1,000 as well as a full left quarter panel from Ecklers that cost 1,000. That is all the replacement sheetmetal that will come with the car. No trim is included or windows, all that you get is on the pallet or setting on the car, no bumpers. The car has some rust, is is all very repairable as you can see, one door has rust inside it at the bottom and should be replaced, both fenders are solid except for at the bottoms where they need patched. Both quarters have rust under the side moldings and at the bottom. the hood has rust at the back edge but is repairable. Right side rocker panel and one floor brace need replacing and that is about it. The trunk is solid, roof is good and firewall. Minor rust in trunk gutter and around right front of windshield lower area. I highly recommend that you look at the car before bidding because I don't want any whining when you see it has some rust. It will be hard to load on a transport truck due to all the parts so if you intend to ship it you will have to arrange all of that and I will load it but they usually don't like to ship them with that many loose pieces. GM Recalling 370,000 Trucks For Fire Risk
Mon, Jan 13 2014DETROIT (AP) - General Motors is recalling 370,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups from the 2014 model year to fix software that could cause the exhaust components to overheat and start a fire. The recall includes 303,000 trucks in the U.S. and 67,000 in Canada and Mexico. All of the trucks involved have 4.3-liter or 5.3-liter engines. GM said eight fires have been reported, but no injuries. One garage was damaged, the company said. All of the incidents occurred in cold weather. The company is asking customers not to leave their trucks idling unattended. GM dealers will reprogram the software for free. The company will inform owners starting Jan. 16. The major recall announcement, which came on Saturday, marred the Silverado's winning of the 2014 North American Truck of the Year Award at the Detroit Auto Show on Monday. Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
