You are looking at an incredible 1956 Chevy Bel Air 2 door sedan.  This car has it's original 265 V8 engine and a 3 speed manual transmission with shift on the column.  The engine is numbers matching, and I have the original paperwork to prove it.  This car has not been restored!  It is in amazing original condition!  She is Sierra Gold and Adobe Beige, and these are the original colors.  I was lucky enough to find the car in Franklin Square, NY last year.  I had the car appraised by a specialist, and he was amazed by the condition of the car.  He believes it to be all original, except he said that the front fenders look like they have been re-sprayed many years ago.  I have a full documented report from the appraiser, and I will give it to the new owner.  The car has all of it's original equipment, and everything works, except for the clock in the dash.  Even the AM tube radio works!  It has the dealer installed window washer squirters, the remote spot light, and the optional rubber floor mats.  The seats and armrests are showing some wear, please see the pics.  This car runs and drives extremely well.  I do drive it and enjoy it.  The motor starts right up, and runs super smooth.  The clutch feels perfect, and the transmissin shifts great.  The 4 wheel drum brakes work well, considering they are manual drums!

The car has been extremely well kept over the years.  The 2 previous owners had the car in climate controled garages.  The car was undercoated, and I believe that helped the car stay so nice.  All body panels look to be 100% original.  The floor pans and inner and outer rockers look great, with zero rust.  The body mounts look great too.  Even the bottoms of the doors have no rust, it is just amazing how clean this car still is.  The paint is still nice, some of the gold is thin in spots, but it has the right to be, it is 57 years old.  The stainless trim is in amazing shape, and looks great.  The chrome is nice, but is a little dull in spots.  The doors open and close perfectly, with zero effort.  All of the windows roll down properly also.  The exhaust system was replaced recently, as well as the front engine mounts, and the idler arm.  It also has a modern battery in it.  The 265 V8 has a 2 barrel carb, and single exhaust.

I bought this car with every intension of making it into a pro-touring resto mod with an LS-1, a 6-speed, big wheels, and 4 wheel disc brakes.  I now realize that this car is way too nice and too important to ever modify it.  It really is special.  The appraiser yelled at me, and told me that the car is a time capsule, and should be stored in a climate controled bubble, and not driven.  I am not willing to do that, so I am looking to move on, but I want the car to go to a good home.  I do know that the current trend in the collector car hobby is about un-restored survivor cars, so I am sure someone will really apreciate this old girl.  Please look at the pics.  This car is not perfect, it is NOT restored, it is 57 years old, and in amazing shape for it's age. I feel that you should come and stand in front of the car, before you make any opinions about it.  I will be happy to show anyone the car, if you are a serious buyer.

Buyer is resposible for all shipping fees and arrangments.  A $1000 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end.  Car must be paid in full within 7 days of auction end.  I will not release vehicle until payment is cleared into my bank account, no exceptions.  Vehicle is sold in AS IS condition, sale is final.  Not looking for any trades.  Please check my perfect feedback and bid with confidence!  Thanks.

Mark Reuss: GM can't afford product 'misses,' has 'thought about' CT6 V-Series

Thu, Apr 9 2015

Mark Reuss is a busy man. He oversees General Motors' global product portfolio, an all-encompassing task for a company that sold more than 9.9 million cars and trucks last year. When GM launches a well-received product, like the road-going rocket ship that is the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – he gets credit. When the company stumbles with the slow-selling Chevy Malibu or grapples with fallout from the decade-old Saturn Ion and its flawed ignition switch, he gets blamed. GM owners, the press and sometimes the federal government, demand answers. Bob Lutz famously held the job before Reuss. So did Mary Barra, who's now GM's chief executive. There's a New GM, but the lineage is connected to a long history. When he's not thinking product, Reuss, an executive vice president, also runs the purchasing and supply chain for the company, which is still one of the largest industrial empires in the world. We caught up with Reuss on the floor of the New York Auto Show, where GM had just rolled out two crucial new products: the 2016 Cadillac CT6 and the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. Speaking with a small group of reporters, Reuss delved into a variety of subjects, including the new Malibu, Cadillac's future (he thinks the ATS-V is going to "flame the M3 and M4"), and other topics. On fixing the Malibu: "We can't miss. We can't have those kinds of misses [like the previous generation] on our cars and crossovers and trucks. We can't do that. If we do that, we give a reason for someone to go buy something else. It's that simple. "On a car like the Malibu we have a chance to really fix all of that, which we have, and then lead. Then you've got a real opportunity there. So that's what we've really been focused on here – to fix those things." He later added: "We need that car here to transform Chevrolet desperately because it's the heart of the market. And when you think of Chevrolet, people will come back and think about what we did with the [new] Malibu and the Cruze... It's hugely important to us." On Cadillac: "If we go out and try and out-German the Germans, it's probably not going to work. We've got an opportunity here generationally where there's a lot of people younger than me that have parents that drove BMWs and Mercedes, and I think there's an opportunity there for those people to drive something different than what their parents did, and I think that's always been an opportunity in the auto industry if you look at the history of it.

GM will make Chevy Volt production announcement tomorrow

Mon, Apr 7 2014

Thing are apparently happening to get the next-generation Chevy Volt ready for public consumption. The most obvious proof is in a preview of an announcement (possibly coming tomorrow) that the two main places where General Motors gets the Volt ready -the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant and the Brownstown Township battery assembly facility - will be getting big money upgrades and lots of new positions. The Hamtramck plant builds the Volt and its fancier cousin, the Cadillac ELR, as well as the global versions of the Volt. The Detroit News reports that GM will add 1,400 jobs and spend roughly $450 million at the two locations in order to build the redesigned Volt. What's less clear is exactly what the updates will bring us. We've heard that the new volt will be a 2016 model and come on a new chassis. Speculation in The Detroit News about tomorrow's announcement runs the gamut from a new compact PHEV with less electric range and a lower price (which makes sense) to an updated Volt with more electric range (heard it before) to a new all-electric vehicle (the moon shot). If there's any hints to be gleaned in the international Volts, there are also reports coming in that the Opel brand will get an all-electric vehicle that is cheaper than the Ampera. Read into that what you will. We pestered GM's Kevin Kelly on the new Volt (again) and he said (again) that he couldn't give out any more detail other than what's been reported. He just told AutoblogGreen that there will be an announcement tomorrow and that it will be about the Hamtramck and Brownstown facilities and involve the Volt. So, stay tuned.

Deep discounts — $12K, $13K, $16K — are fueling a pickup price war

Mon, Jun 4 2018

Heavy discounts of up to $16,000 per vehicle are fueling a "truck war" among full-size pickups sold in the United States by the Detroit Three, a Reuters analysis shows. Strong U.S. sales this year of the highly profitable big trucks have helped offset lagging passenger car sales. But it is not clear how much of the truck demand is linked directly to ample factory incentives and dealer discounts, or how far sales might decline without those subsidies. A Reuters survey of Ford, General Motors Co's Chevrolet and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles's Ram truck dealers across the United States indicates stores are offering deep discounts the country's bestselling full-size pickup trucks. "The walls are not crashing down on full-size trucks," said Sam Fiorani, vice president of global vehicle forecasting at AutoForecast Solutions in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. Detroit-based automakers want to keep cranking out their high-margin trucks, he added, and "giving up a little of the profit is the cheapest way to do it." Stores are offering discounts of up to $12,000 on the 2018 Ford F-150, which remains the best-selling vehicle in the country, recording more than 80,000 sales in May. Discounts run up to $13,000 on the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado and as high as $16,000 on the Ram 1500. Average transaction prices for full-size pick-ups range from around $42,000 to $45,000, industry analysts and automakers say. All three companies are spending furiously - GM and Fiat Chrysler to help sell off carryover 2018 trucks to prepare for redesigned 2019 models, and Ford to sustain its long-held sales crown. A supplier fire that temporarily shut down production of the F-150 last month "changed the game," said Jeff Schuster, senior vice president of forecasting at LMC Automotive in Troy, Michigan said. The supply halt nudged Ford's crosstown rivals "to ratchet up incentives on the current models to go after weakness at Ford," he said. Deals advertised on the companies' official websites range from rebates and low-interest loans to ultra-cheap lease rates, but they are not telling the whole story. Ford, for instance, advertises a $2,000 rebate and a $500 financing credit on sales of certain F-150 models. But James Collins Ford in Louisville, Kentucky, is offering discounts of up to $12,215 on the 2018 F-150 XLT SuperCrew 4x4. The price cuts are even steeper at a number of GM and Fiat Chrysler dealers. Quirk Chevrolet is selling the 2018 Silverado 1500 Double Cab at $13,000 off sticker.
