Listed here with NO RESERVE is a 55 Nomad Barn Find I bought the car out of a barn in Tennessee where it had been sitting for over 35 years. My intention was to build a high end rat rod out of it and have since changed directions and purchased another project. Car comes with a Bill of Sale ONLY-that's the way I got it, that's the way I'm selling it! DOES NOT HAVE A TITLE, VIN, or COWL TAG-that's how I bought it, again, that's how it will be sold!! I have a TON of money in this old car and the nice stuff and engine that go with it so my loss is definitely going to be the winning bidders gain. I want to be up front with any and all bidders interested that this car needs a full restoration-full floors, doors, fenders, roof repair, etc. with somewhere between $20k and $25k spent on it on top of the cost of the car itself if you're wanting a $70k-$100k car when completed. However, the car lacks very little as-is to be riding and driving. Counting all the glass, I would guesstimate that it would take somewhere between $1000 and $2500 plus your labor to put the car on the road from where it is right now and to do it "right" and safe and finish it the way I had envisioned....as a killer rat rod. After all, how many 55 Nomads are still left, let alone one that's been built as a true rat rod? The car has most, if not all, the trim for the exterior and the interior. It has the extremely hard-to-find headlight eyebrows and even some rat rod quality useable fender and door trim. It has a 305 V-8 Chevy engine in it now. It is coupled to a 700R4 overdrive transmission, both of which came out of an 84 Trans Am that was running and driving when pulled out February of this year (2014). The car has the original front bench seat and the rear seat bottom but no top section best I remember. The tailgate trim is all there.
As I said, most, if not all, of the hard to find pieces are there. Here's the icing on the cake-I also have a really nice engine that I did for the car that I'm going to let go with the car. Over $6,500 spent on the engine alone-yes, it goes with the car. It is a carbureted 350 LT-1. It has been bored +.060. Honed and polish honed with deck plates. File fit rings. Forged and coated Mahle pistons. Crank turned .010/.010. Eagle I beam full floating connecting rods. Balanced rotating assembly. Short block has been professionally assembled and all clearances checked. Heads are new reman with 2.02/1.60 valves and new Comp Cams springs, retainers, cups, and keepers. Has a new Comp Cams hydraulic roller cam still in the box and Howards hydraulic roller lifters still in the box. Has new oil pump and timing set still in the boxes. GM Performance carbureted conversion intake. Engine has head studs and main studs. Roller rockers. Engine is not junk-tons spent on it! Makes power to 6500 RPM. Motor will make an honest 450HP on 91-93 octane pump gas. 10.4:1 compression ratio. $1000 NON REFUNDABLE deposit is due within 24 hours of auctions end. Please call and ask any and all questions prior to auctions end. We are available from 8AM-5PM EST Monday-Friday at Dixie Motorsports in Middlesboro, KY at 606-248-1200. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Also please contact us at auctions end to let us know what your transportation/shipping arrangements are. This car and all parts that come with it are being sold AS-IS/WHERE-IS with NO WARRANTY WHATSOEVER. Good luck and happy bidding!!

Car Club USA: Louisiana Mudfest
Tue, Jun 16 2015There's nothing quite like mudding. Big tires, huge power, and crazy-wild gearheads that like to throw down on a mud pit almost as much as a thirty rack of Coors. In the latest, and some might argue greatest yet episode of Car Club USA, we head to Louisiana to throw some dirt at Mudfest. As Louisiana's one and only Mouth of the South puts it, "If you don't mud ride... go to Texas I guess." Joining The Mouth and friendly rivals The Most Hated Mud Sluts, we dive in. Beyond the obvious V8 blasting and tractor-tire spinning, those who know best describe Mudfest as, "Good cooking, good friends, good fun, and a lot of partying." It's a motorsport spectacle unlike any you're likely to find up North or out West, though no less impressive to behold. Follow along with the fun, the impromptu drag racing, the trash talking, and the mechanical madness. And find out why, at Mudfest, "if we don't tear it up, we ain't done it right." Each Car Club USA episode features a different car club or event from across the US, where passionate owner communities gather to share automotive experiences and embark on incredible adventures. GM to idle car production at five factories as Americans continue CUV love affair
Mon, Dec 19 2016In case you needed another reminder that Americans have fallen out of love with sedans, General Motors today announced plans to idle five factories in January in a bid to cut its inventory to 70 days. Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly ( Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Chevrolet Volt and Impala) and Fairfax Assembly in Kansas ( Chevy Malibu) will stop production for three weeks. Lansing Grand River ( Cadillac ATS and CTS, and Chevy Camaro) is going down for two weeks, while Lordstown, OH ( Chevy Cruze) and Bowling Green, KY ( Chevy Corvette) will go idle for a week each, Automotive News reports. GM's shutdown reflects a broader problem with the company's supply – at 847,000 vehicles, the company's supply increased unsteadily from a low of 629,000 units in January of 2016. That's more than a 25 percent increase in the past year. Citing information from Autodata, The Detroit News reports that at the end of November, GM had a 168-day supply of LaCrosses, 177 days' worth of Camaro, 170 days of Corvette, 121 days for Cruze, 119 days for ATS, 132 days for CTS, and 110 days of CT6. Meanwhile, inventory of the company's more popular vehicles is actually below the professionally accepted 60- to 70-day supply, The News reports. The Trax, Colorado pickup, and GM's full-size SUVs are sitting below 50 days and experiencing year-over-year sales increases. GM needs a rethink of its inventory levels, which is something that's apparently coming. "We're going to be responsible in managing our inventory levels," GM spokesman Jim Cain told The News. Another unnamed spokesman told Automotive News the company's day-to-day supplies would "fluctuate before moderating at year-end." But at least one analyst thinks this won't be the last time Detroit needs to stop production to level things out. "Incentives are elevated, residuals are declining, and rates are rising," Brian Johnson, an analyst with Barclays, told The News. "And while GM in particular may benefit in the months ahead from new product launches, it's important to recognize that GM's inventory is elevated at the moment, and it wouldn't surprise us if they need to announce another production cut – which could pressure the stock." 1983 Motorweek showdown pits Porsche 928S vs. Chevy Camaro Z28
Mon, Jan 12 2015Last month, Motor Trend threw the Camaro Z/28 and Porsche 911 GT3 into the bear pit and let them fight it out. Way back in 1983, MotorWeek had the same idea, comparing the Camaro Z/28 to the Porsche 928S. At the time, the Camaro was America's best selling sports coupe, the 928S was Porsche's top-of-the-line model that also had the highest top speed of any car sold here. And the price differential was even more stark then: $13,600 for the Camaro, $45,000 for the Porsche. That put the Z/28's cast-iron, 5.0-liter V8 with 190 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque against the all-aluminum 4.7-liter V8 with 234 hp and 263 lb-ft in the 928S. Even with that and the Camaro being 14 inches longer than the Porsche, the American was a surprising 40 pounds lighter than the German. The show took them to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to see how close a relative performance bargain could hang with a the German GT. Both had five-speed manual transmissions, but the high-speed corners and tight sections of Summit Point would test other handling variables, including the "bone-rattling" Camaro's solid rear axle and disc and drum brake setup vis-a-vis the four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension on the "firm-but-smooth" Porsche. Paradoxically, the larger disparity 22 years ago resulted in a closer result. Check out the video to see how the Summit was won.
