I bought it in 1998 and it has been in storage about 98 percent of that time. The pictures will show where most of the visible/exterior rust is. Not visible is rusted drivers floor pan, some of the hump and a place inside the right front wheel weld. Radiator needs a leak fixed and pressure checked. Muncie 4 speed needs was installed and no yet run/operated. Emergency brake works, regular brakes did work when bought but currently do not."

I have owned this 55 Chevy since 1996 and have had it in storage 98 percent of that time. It is my project car and I have managed to do a few things, e.g. replaced the main under dash wiring harness, installed a aftermarket windshield wiper system that mounts inside the firewall (under the dash) and it uses rods instead of wires, I have purchased still new in the box front and rear OEM type bumpers and a new in the box chrome front grill. I have a new box of front end sheet-metal screws, new rear tail light lens with the blue dot, new trunk mat, new Craggar wheels and new tires, new card board box for the glove box, new cardboard for the inside front kick panels. The car didn't come with a radio so I bought two (one w/station buttons and one without) that I have not checked to see if they actually work.  All the glass is in good shape with no cracks in any window glass.  The door close extremely well.  I have new locks still in the plastic bag for the front doors, trunk, and glove box. The head liner is in decent shape but I never had the dome light.  Once I managed to start working on it and I removed the engine to remove the automatic transmission someone previously had installed. The clutch is missing a linkage part or two that did not come with the car. I did manage to get the original Blue Flame 6 cylinder engine and original 3 speed transmission which is included in this sale. I previously had the head of the Blue flame reworked at a machine shop but still needs to be reassembled on the block. I have the factory manuals (see pics) plus a digital copy of one not shown and the owners manual. I also bought new dash trim (aluminum used on the BelAir model and installed it). I also have a used Hurst 4 Speed Shifter to install. I still have the original steel wheels and the original rear bumper available too.

I expect to be working overseas again soon so if not sold now it will continue to be stored for several more years.

This car is used, and as such there is no warranty, no refund after the sale, or no charge back via PayPal for any fees authorized.  This car is available to be looked at by the buyer if desired before the auction closes. Buyer will need to pickup in person (recommended), or coordinate buyers own shipping arrangements and fees.  I will assist a transport company in loading but they are responsible for any damages in loading/transit/unloading.

Payment is $500 nonrefundable deposit paid in 3 days via PayPal, balance due by verifiable bank check in seven days after the auction ends. Removal is not possible until paid in full.

If you have questions please ask before bidding.

Cheers!

Star Wars Car Drives To The Dark Side Of Comic Con

Tue, Jul 22 2014

When it comes to designing coveted collectible toys for sale at Comic-Con, the annual celebration of pop culture lifting off Thursday in San Diego, the sky's the limit for the designers at Mattel. Fittingly, the building where Mattel's dreamers conceive of their limited-edition playthings is just down the street from the Los Angeles International Airport. Inside the colorful design center - a Hot Wheels-themed shuttle bus transports employees from Mattel's parking garage - the designers have spent the past year working on 10 toys created especially for the Comic-Con crowd, including a replica of the Batmobile from the upcoming game "Batman: Arkham Knight" and a 9-inch-tall action figure of Superman killer Doomsday. "We don't have to worry about retail. We don't have to worry about margins," said Doug Wadleigh, Mattel's senior vice president of global brand marketing for boys and entertainment. "We don't have to worry about operational efficiencies. We only have to worry about creating the coolest toys for our fans. Period." It also offers some escape from Mattel's reality these days. Like other toy makers struggling in this digital, video-centric age, the company is trying to remain relevant in the retail world. Core brands like Barbie have seen less of a demand, with a 14 percent drop in sales in the first quarter of this year. Mattel had a net loss for the first three months ending March 31 that totaled $11.2 million. But things will at least seem rosier at Comic-Con, where eager buyers for the toys await (the only other place they will be sold is on the Mattel collector's site). Mattel's exclusives this year run between $20 and $85, but elite toys can fetch much more when they're put up for auction. The crown jewel for Wadleigh and his team this year is a Darth Vader die-cast car, the first official collaboration from Hot Wheels and the "Star Wars" franchise. The car - imagine if a Chevrolet Corvette C5 and the villainous Sith lord's helmet had a baby - comes in a sleek black box and encased in a replica of Vader's lightsaber, complete with a swooshing sound effect. "We've been trying to partner with Lucasfilm and Disney on this property for a long time," said Wadleigh. A full-size working replica of the Vadermobile will be on display at Mattel's booth at the massive San Diego Convention Center.

This SEMA special drag race is absurdly awesome

Fri, Dec 5 2014

The SEMA Show came and went last month, and it showed us a ton of heavily modded goodies to dream about during the long, cold winter. The Motor Trend Channel on YouTube is keeping the party rolling a little longer, though, with a drag race inspired by the aftermarket event. All of the hosts were supposed to borrow a vehicle from the show for the big race, but only two of them actually cajoled companies into lending their wares. Still, the result includes four very cool and extremely different examples of the breadth of the automotive hobby. First up, there's a 1955 Chevrolet with a 535-cubic-inch (8.8-liter) Hemi V8 stuffed under the hood. Appropriately, it's dubbed the Blasphemi, and with skinny tires up front, fat rubber in the rear and a stripped interior, this this is made to go very fast in a straight line. Next, there's a stock Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat boasting 707 horsepower. Plus, host Jessi Lang has her dog riding shotgun for the race. A Chevy Sonic RS with some body mods, downpipe and intake is also competing. Finally, the most bizarre of the quartet is a custom 1958 Jeep Forward Control with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and treads to replace the wheels. Obviously, the Blasphemi and Hellcat are the only two that really have a chance of winning, but check out the video to see which one crosses the finish line first.
