Up for auction is my dad's 1955 Chevy Bel Air Convertible with the rare Continental kit. We are the third owners of this car and it has been in our family for over the past 10 years.

Both the interior and exterior were redone in the late eighties by the second owner, (a neighbor) and the car has always been garage kept as well as meticulously maintained. The top operates smoothly and has retained its color.The paint still has looks great to this day (with the occasional chip or two), and a ripple on the front fender as well as some slight fading on the back seat, but nothing drastic.

Mechanically, this car is sound and ready to drive anywhere. For the past decade this car has been only to cruises, car shows and in the occasional wedding. The mileage is at just under 90,000 or so and we believe this to be accurate.

The original Power-glide transmission shifts smoothly and the 265 V8 w/ 2bbl carburetor runs strong, however it is not stock for the car. There is no rust on the body or the floor; the frame and the body mounts are sound. All the gauges work, as does the AM radio.

This car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to cancel this auction at anytime. Any bidders with poor history, no history, or just shady in general, please do not bid. If you would like to take a look at the car or have any questions please email me.

Corvette Stingray Convertible images mysteriously appear on web, so we add our own

It was inevitable that we'd see the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray topless at some point, but that didn't make us any less interested when a pair of supposedly leaked official images showed up on theautoinsiderblog.com last week. We posted them on our Facebook page, but held off reporting on them here until we could get a little more information.
Those images, which feature a dark red car on a sterile black studio background, supposedly first appeared on the website of diecast model maker Maisto. A Chevrolet spokesman has been reported saying that they are "not official images released by Chevrolet PR," which isn't a denial they're the real deal, but neither is it a confirmation.
Close examination of the photos suggest they could be official shots of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, and while some have doubted their authenticity due to a lack of vents (which were seen on the C7s that debuted in Detroit last week), it could be that the images are of a base model car without the Z51 package that doesn't require the extra venting and cooling.
