listing this for a friend who doesn't do computers. he traded a piece of property for the car to get it for his wife, but since these cars in their original state are not known for their steering/braking/handling abilities she never really drove it. guess when they first got it she backed it into her other car as the brakes needed work. made a dent around the bottom area of the drivers side tail light. the only dent in an otherwise beautiful 55. original miles and I believe he said he is the 3rd owner. 235 six cylinder 3 on the tree manual transmission with pull out overdrive. motor runs like the day it was new. I have built and owned a lot of these cars and this one is in just unbelievable condition. came from the high desert in the bend, oregon area and still has the dealer ID on the trunk deck. tires look like new and he was told it is only the 2nd set of tires it has ever had. looks as though the vinyl part of the upholstery was redone but the cloth inserts look original. the front carpet is original with a small wear spot near the sill plate on the passenger side. rear carpet looks new. tiny bit of sun cracking on the driver side interior door panel where you pull the door closed. these are the only minor flaws on an almost new looking 55. he told me EVERYTHING works with the exception of the fuel gauge. all interior lights came on when I had the doors open. glove box light comes on when you open the glove box. if you like AM he says the radio plays good. with very little effort this car could easily be a 10. I looked this car over from top to bottom, took all the pictures, and the few things at the beginning of this description are the only things I could find. all the glass and exterior trim looks perfect as does all the stainless interior trim. cowl tag info: style no 55-1031037D body no 0 1904 trim no 519 10 paint no 614S top acc ez. the owner of the vehicle states he will trade it for a 160? series excavator. he does a lot of that kind of work and is only parting with the car to make a down payment on a new excavator. please don't wast my time with any 10 thousand dollar offers. we listed it on a fixed format so everyone knows this guy is not some joker having his buddies run up the bids like happens with a bunch of these auction style sales. whoever gets this car will definitely NOT be disappointed or have buyers remorse in any way. Its summer in the beautiful NW. fly out and drive it home! I took well over a hundred pictures and many close-ups with my digital SLR. apparently ebay now believes that all those extra pictures will not help you make a better buying decision, so if you are serious about this vehicle please feel free to email me for the link. thanks for looking!

Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?
Thu, Jun 23 2016The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose! GM says its electric pickup truck is 'in development'
Thu, Jun 6 2019GM President Mark Reuss just reiterated the company's support for an electric pickup project. He also claimed that GM is going to be selling its future electric cars at "very average transaction prices" during the same conference with Wall Street analysts. Previously, Mary Barra informed the world of GM's electric pickup truck aspirations, but didn't tell us anything else. Reuss says the truck is already in development, though, according to a Wards Auto report. "We will have a complete electric lineup, including a pickup truck that's in development," Reuss said. This comment marks the second time GM has gone on the record about its intentions to bring an electric pickup to market. Additionally, Reuss said GM's third-generation global EV platform will be used to help develop the electric pickup. This platform was recently announced to underpin at least 20 new EVs from GM in the future — the platform itself is slated to be unveiled in 2021. Of course, this platform will be flexible and modular to allow various body styles to be used with it, a truck being one of those. Reuss still hasn't said what GM brand the pickup will be sold under, or what class of truck it will be. GM thinks this new platform is also going to be what helps it drive down the cost of building EVs. "We'll reach parity a lot sooner than people think," Reuss said comparing EVs to traditional gas-powered engines. "We're driving down the cost of batteries and the whole EV in general." As for electric pickups, Ford is also deep in development of its own electric F-150. However, neither of these truck projects have official timelines on them, so we can't say when they'll hit the market. For now, the cross-town rivals are both in development with their respective electric pickups. Even further across town is Rivian (in which Ford just invested half a billion dollars), a company that says its electric R1T pickup is right around the corner, with the official due date being end of 2020 for the time being. Porsche 911 tops a list of must-have classics, but No. 2 is more of a surprise
Wed, Aug 9 2023No surprise here: In Europe, the Porsche 911 is the most sought-after classic car. Surprise here: Slip-streaming the 911 in the most sought-after chart compiled by the Car & Classic marketplace is the Ford Mustang. Using the Google search engine as a means to pick the winners, as well as the average prices achieved on the “Car and Classic” website, the venerable 911 was tagged 1.45 million times per month according to data stretching back 15 years. The number of 911Â’s sold though the C&C marketplace was 21,141, at an average price of 58,409 pounds, or $74,300. FordÂ’s pony car, still a popular choice for buyers in Europe, placed second on the list with 1.2 million monthly searches. The average sales price over 15 years was 31,107 pounds ($39,570), and the number of older Mustangs sold reached a total of 8,332. Models that also finished among the charted top 10 include the Land Rover Range Rover, the Corvette, the ultra-classic British favorite Jaguar E-Type and the BMW 3 Series. “Whilst a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS could set you back the best part of GBP500,000 ($636,000), there are many more affordable models, which bring the average sale price of a 911 on Car & Classic to GBP58,000 ($73,800) – the third highest average selling price of any make and model on the site,” explained Dale Vinten of Car & Classic. According to the site, the Jaguar fetched the highest average selling price: a whopping 89,000 pounds, or $113,000. But thatÂ’s peanuts compared to a Series 1 Roadster in excellent condition, said Vinten. For that, “you can expect to spend up to GBP250,000 ($318,000), A Series 2 or 3 will cost less, as they are not as desirable, but in decent condition you can expect to pay around GBP40,000-GBP50,000. Even a barn find 1969 E-Type Series 2 Roadster can set you back to the tune of GBP33,000 ($42,000)." Launched in 2005, Car & Classic is among EuropeÂ’s most popular classic car clearinghouses. It also runs a stand-alone auction site.
