1955 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 Door Post on 2040-cars

Here is my 1955 Chevy Bel Air 2 Door Post. I have been saving this car for a long while, because I was going to just have fun with it, but other circumstances has come up and now I need to sell it. The car has some issues of needing some body work over the rear wheel on the drivers side. It looks ok, but who ever done the body work before I got it, didn't do very well in my opinion. I do have the front and rear bumpers for it, but they will need chromed. I do not have the chrome for the Bel Air, only what is on the car. I have tried to show in the pictures just how good the car is. I looked for a running project car for a long time, and finally found this one. It has a New exhaust system including New Flow Masters, and it also has the motor and trans in the car. I am not really sure that it is a 327, but the man I bout the car from told me that that was what was in it.  It is not running at this time. I'm sure it would need a complete tune up.

The floors seam solid as seen in the pictures. I had the car running and driving about 6 or 7 months ago, then went through a divorce, and guess what, the car got parked. Now I'm having to sell it. The motor ran good, and drove good, I have had this car for several years, and hate to part with it, because they are SO hard to find in good restorable shape! You can see on the windshield it says "KEEP" and the reason for that was the divorce! The tires and wheels do not go with the 55 Chevy, because they came off of my 69 Chevelle, and I will need them to put back on the car. I have other tires and wheels to go on car for transportation.

The car does not have any warranty, the winning buyer(bidder) is responsible for transportation of the car, at the end of the auction a $500 dollar deposit goes to my Pay Pal, all deposits are non refundable, I have the right to end the auction at any time, because I am advertising locally, tires and wheels do not go with the 55 Chevy, I do not have a title for the car, but can give a bill of sale. I had to put "clear" on the article, because of the format would not let me put anything else, if you have any questions, feel free to contact me, and I will answer as soon as possible.

Thanks for looking, and Good luck Bidding!!!

I forgot to say that, as you can see in the pictures, the car needs full resto to make a really NICE car out of it, or just leave it like it is for the "hot Rod" look. Sold "as is" where it is, and the seats need to be bolted down. I feel sure that it had a bench seat in it at one time, and the man I got it from changed it and put the buckets in it.

If I have created any problems, I apologize, but I wanted to add this, because I had forgotten to put it in, when I was doing the article.

 Thanks

Why the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder can be illegal in some states

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

The Performance Data Recorder with Valet Mode available on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray seems like a fantastic tool for many owners. Whether they are taking 720p video while lapping the track in their new 'Vette, or just want to protect their purchase from inconsiderate joyriders, the system offers a lot of functionality in one package. However, one of the PDR's features might get buyers in trouble with the law, and it has nothing to do with recording some illicit high-speed driving on a favorite back road. The problem hinges on the various state laws concerning a person's right to privacy.
According to a letter posted by Jalopnik, Chevy dealers are asking 2015 Corvette owners not to use the Valet Mode portion of the PDR because it records audio in the cabin, in addition to performance specs. That's a problem because privacy laws vary from state to state with some requiring just one side's consent to tape sound and others requiring all parties to agree. According Jalopnik, 15 states mandate everyone's permission beforehand, but it's not clear whether these numbers are up to date. (Actually, the report varies, saying 13 states in some places and 15 in a list.)
According to the letter, Chevy is already working on a software update for the near future to rectify the issue. It's possible that simply adding a warning to drivers and the ability to turn off the audio recording function in Valet Mode might solve the problem. Obviously, this doesn't preclude Corvette drivers from using the performance aspect of the PDR, and owners are free tape lap after lap at the track.

There once was a time when Daewoo was one of the biggest companies in South Korea. It was larger than both LG and Samsung, and second only to Hyundai. But these days the name is all but gone.

Junkyard Gem: 1988 Chevrolet Spectrum Sport Coupe

Wed, Aug 23 2023

Before General Motors created the Geo brand for cars built or designed by its overseas partners, the Chevrolet Division put its badges on U.S.-market versions of the Toyota Corolla Sprinter, the Suzuki Cultus and the Isuzu Gemini. Those cars were known as the Nova, the Sprint and the Spectrum, and all became Geos starting with the 1989 model year. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of the last Chevy Spectrums ever sold, found in a Denver self-service yard a few months ago. Midway through 1988, the Chevrolet Spectrum abruptly became the Geo Spectrum and was assigned to the 1989 model year. This car was built in May 1988, making it one of the very last of the pre-Geo Spectrums. The Chevrolet/Geo Spectrum was available as a four-door sedan and as a three-door hatchback, from the 1985 through 1989 model years. For 1988 only, a Spectrum Sport Coupe package, featuring some trim upgrades and these rad decals, could be had on the hatchback. This car was essentially identical to its Isuzu-badged counterpart, the I-Mark. In 1988, the MSRP for the cheapest possible Chevy Spectrum hatchback (the stripped-down Spectrum Express) was $6,495, while its somewhat better-equipped I-Mark twin started at $7,439 (that's $17,128 and $19,617 in 2023 dollars). Meanwhile, the base Hyundai Excel hatchback listed at $5,295 and the Yugo GV cost a hilarious $4,199 ($13,963 and $10,941 in today's money). Power came from this 1.5-liter SOHC four-cylinder, rated at 70 horsepower. A turbocharged version with 110 horsepower was available as well. You could get an automatic transmission in the Spectrum, but this car has the base five-speed manual. This car didn't get the optional air conditioning, but at least it has the traditional Isuzu HVAC control icons featuring blow-dried hair and high-heeled dominatrix boots. Just over 170,000 miles on the odometer. Someone installed a pretty good (for the 1980s) Blaupunkt Charlotte CR148 cassette deck in the dash. This was a necessity if you wanted to enjoy full appreciation of the music of the era. The Spectrum is special! It's as slick as city rain. "I didn't spend a lot of money but with my Spectrum it looks like I did." Joe Isuzu mocked Toyota salesmen when pitching the I-Mark. As was nearly always the case during the 1980s, the JDM ads for the same car were much more fun. They should have recreated this commercial with Spectrums.
