1955 Chevrolet Bel Air on 2040-cars
Valparaiso, Florida, United States
1955 Chevy Bel Air two door post. I bought this car about 20 years ago in Alabama with the hopes of fixing it up but I'm in the military and just haven't had the time. I've spent a lot of time and money on it over the years but as you can see, I've let it sit around too long this time and it needs attention by someone who has the time. Drivetrain: 383 stroker, 350 turbo and 3.23 10 bolt posi rear-end. Engine NOT running, will turnover and start but won't stay running - Rack and pinion power steering - Front disc brakes - Chrome tilt steering column. (starting to pit from sitting around) - Duel exhaust - 2" drop springs on the front, installed urethane bushings years ago - Griffin 4 core aluminum radiator Negatives: - Has 383 stroker that was professionally built about 15 years ago. I haven't driven this car in over 2 1/2 years so I'm NOT claiming it runs or drives(but sure it will with some work). I can say I've only put around 4-5 thousand miles on it. - Will need complete interior, what you see in pictures is what will be included - Will need body work, front floor pans(see pictures) . I stripped this car down to bare metal and used spray can primer to cover bare metal. I'm almost 100% sure that the quarters, floor, rocker panels and trunk are original. Left side front fender in in excellent condition, Hood is in good condition, right side front fender is in fair condition, right door is in poor condition(I pulled creases out but would probably re-skin), left rear quarter panel has rot in front of wheel well, right rear quarter panel is in good shape(a little bondo), trunk is in decent shape, a little rot on inside weld seem, trunk is decent, has rot in back half(see pictures), roof will need work right above drivers door(see picture) Positives: - All stainless is there and in really good shape, I removed it all 20 years ago and stored inside. - Bought pretty much all chrome and emblems brand new and it's all still in like new condition in boxes to include: At least $2,000 in chrome parts 10 piece triple chrome bumper 4 piece grill surround(top and bottom pieces got damp somehow so they're not in brand new condition but still very nice) Hood Bird Headlight bezels Parking light bezels Taillight bezels with solid red lens Bel Air scripts Door handles Wiper bezels Gold crests All window felts trunk seal I replace all the glass in the car with smoked tinted glass but a vandal busted the passenger side windows. Front/back windshield and driver side glass is in great shape. VIN: C 55N041181 Cowl Tag: Style 55-1011D Body N 5689 Trim 531 Paint 627 I'm sure I'm missing a lot of stuff so feel free to contact me for more information or pictures. |

Opel's version of the Chevy Bolt will confuse people at Paris Motor Show
Fri, Aug 26 2016Two things are now official. First, Opel will reveal the Ampera-e, or the European version of the Chevrolet Bolt, at the Paris Motor Show in October. Second, General Motors has outdone itself in brand confusion, topping the Bolt/Volt ridiculousness. Opel isn't giving a single-charge range for the Ampera-e but the company is promising a "significantly longer range" than other electric vehicles. The Bolt is estimated to have a 200-mile range on the EPA scale, so whatever the Opel achieves on the European cycle will be done with the same batteries and motor as the Chevy. Opel is also looking to appeal to the auto enthusiasts with other factoids, which are basically just Bolt stats translated into metric. For instance, the Ampera-e will be able to go 0 to 50 kilometers per hour (which is 31 miles per hour to us Americans, but we're talking Europe here) in just 3.2 seconds. And for those looking to stay connected, as many as seven mobile devices can attached to the car's wireless hot spot. GM said in February that the European of the Bolt would be available across the pond next year, so the most recent bit of news isn't shocking. Still, General Motors continues to create confusion between all-electric Bolt and the extended-range plug-in Volt. It's already been reported that the Korean symbol and pronunciation of what is "B" in English is identical to the English "V," meaning that there is no difference between "Bolt" and "Volt" in that country (though there are no plans to sell the Bolt in South Korea as of yet). Now, in Europe, they're taking the name they used to use for the European of the Volt — Ampera — and merely adding an "-e" at the end of it. For those looking to be less confused, take a look at Opel's press release here. Amelia Island 2013: Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray from concepts to split windows
Wed, 13 Mar 2013While this year marks 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance focused on one of the coupe's most sought after models, the 1963 Sting Ray. General Motors design boss Ed Welburn was on hand to show off the all-new C7 Corvette, but even the hard-edged styling of the 2014 Stingray couldn't take away from the beautiful 1963 models sitting out on the field.
In addition to the original Sting Ray and the 1959 Sting Ray Concept, some of the other classic 'Vettes included "Big Tank" racecars, an interesting cutaway coupe, a right-hand-drive Z06 and the attention-grabbing 1963 Corvette Rondine by Pininfarina. Another impressive Corvette was the 1964 Corvette XP-819 rear-engine prototype. Owner Mike Yager had the car finished as a driving chassis for this year's show, but promises the car will be back to its original glory in time for next year's event.
2016 Lamborghini Huracan at the Horse Thief Mile | AutoblogVR
Tue, Sep 13 2016AutoblogVR returns to the Horse Thief Mile in the Mojave Desert to put the Lamborghini Huracan to the test. It's everything we want a modern supercar to be: Powerful, striking in appearance, and a riot to drive. But does it live up to Lamborghini's unique performance heritage? Senior Editor Greg Migliore reviews the Huracan on Horse Thief's unyielding curves and elevation changes to find out. Meanwhile, Autoblog Editor-in-Chief Mike Austin reviews a different kind of performance car – the Chevy SS at the IndyCar circuit on Detroit's Belle Isle. He's ably assisted by ace driver Simon Pagenaud. You must watch his hot lap! The SS is old-school V8 American muscle wrapped in Australian design and engineering. This AutoblogVR segment also launches on the app Sept. 13, and the teaser follows the Huracan preview above. Each week, new episodes will launch on the AutoblogVR App. We'll preview them here on Autoblog, but for the full immersive experience, head over to the app, which you can download for free from the App store and Google Play. Be sure to try it with a cardboard viewer, too!
