1954 Chevy 210 Bel Air W/ "air Ride" on 2040-cars
Flushing, Michigan, United States
Up for auction is one of my babies. This is one solid 2 door 1954 chevy. This is an all orig car. Its still has a 6v charging system. 235 V-6 with 3 on the tree. I've had this for close to 3 years. Its your classic flat black w/white top rat rod hot rod looking 2 door chevy. This car is lowered 2" in the front and 6" in the rear This car was originally brought back from Wyoming to Michigan by the orig owners grandson in 2009 so no major rust issues. I'm only letting this baby go just for the simple fact that I'm an Iraq war vet and my disability doesn't allow me to enjoy working on cars like I would like to anymore. This car is solid as you can see in the pics the only minor rust issue is along the driver side floor frame rail on the floor pan. I took the seats out so you can see how straight and rust free the floor boards are. Iv done all of the upgrades and work myself until my injury would not allow me to anymore. The front seats are bench covered in a black and grey Mexican blanket the same as the rear. I have a brand new Accuride air ride kit brand new in the box with all brackets and parts that I have available that I was going to put on it but never got around to it. IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE AUCTION but if you are interested we can work something out. Let me begin the list. Everything has been done within the last 2 years. Both wheels bearings have been repacked. new front breaks, shocks, lug nut bolts, new alt, battery, rebuilt carb, complete tune up wires, plugs ect, The tires are Coker orig that were purchased for another project I had but I threw them on here. Cant beat the look. The wheels have moon eyes and beauty ring in good shape with no pitting. I have everything that came with this car including the orig fender skirts. I was in the process of redoing the interior until I had to physically quit. I have all the orig door panels, chrome pieces, and chrome molding for the inside. The bumpers are not in the pics but I do have them they were orig 3 pieces I welded them into one smooth bumper. Front and back. The trunk is just as solid and still has the original cardboard sound deadener in the trunk lid. This car runs and drives straight. Never seen snow or rain the hole time I've owned it. Except for when I backed it out to take the pics. The only bad things I can think about is the pass window is cracked and so is the pass vent window. There's a BB shot in the front glass but nothing major. The undercarriage has been professionally undercoated so no issues there. If you have any other questions feel free to message me. Car is only available in the US. I will not sell out of the US. Its to much of a pain in the ass. Car is for sale locally. Seller has the right to end the auction if car is sold. A $500.00 non refundable down payment is due via PayPal within 24 hours of end of auction. The rest must be paid in cash in person when car is picked up no later than 3 days after the auction has ended. I will work with the shipping company to help load the car if needed. If winning bidder is in Michigan I may be able to ship for a fee. Good Luck On Mar-12-14 at 15:31:17 PDT, seller added the following information: *******ATTENTION TO BIDDERS WITH 0 FEEDBACK. VW, Rivian, Nissan, BMW, Genesis, Audi and Volvo lose EV tax credits starting tomorrow
Mon, Apr 17 2023The U.S. Treasury said Monday that Volkswagen, BMW, Nissan, Rivian, Hyundai and Volvo electric vehicles will lose access to a $7,500 tax credit under new battery sourcing rules. The Treasury said the new requirements effective Tuesday will also cut by half credits for the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Rear Wheel Drive to $3,750 but other Tesla models will retain the full $7,500 credit. Vehicles losing credits Tuesday are the BMW 330e, BMW X5 xDrive45e, Genesis Electrified GV70, Nissan Leaf , Rivian R1S and R1T, Volkswagen ID.4 as well as the plug-in hybrid electric Audi Q5 TFSI e Quattro and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) electric Volvo S60. The Swedish carmaker is 82%-owned by China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. The rules are aimed at weaning the United States off dependence on China for EV battery supply chains and are part of President Joe Biden's effort to make 50% of U.S. new vehicle sales by 2030 EVs or PHEVs. Hyundai said in a statement it was committed to its long-range EV plans and that it "will utilize key provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act to accelerate the transition to electrification." Rivian declined to comment and the other automakers could not immediately be reached for comment. Treasury also disclosed General Motors electric Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV will qualify for the full $7,500 tax credit. GM said earlier it expected at least some of its EVS would qualify for the $7,500 tax credit under the new rules, including the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq and forthcoming Chevrolet Equinox EV SUV and Blazer EV SUV. Treasury said all GM EVs will qualify. Earlier, Ford Motor and Chrysler-parent Stellantis said most of their electric and PHEV models would see tax credits halved to $3,750 on April 18. Treasury confirmed the automakers' calculations. The rules were announced last month and mandated by Congress in August as part of the $430 billion Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The IRA requires 50% of the value of battery components be produced or assembled in North America to qualify for $3,750, and 40% of the value of critical minerals sourced from the United States or a free trade partner for a $3,750 credit. The law required vehicles to be assembled in North America to qualify for any tax credits, which in August eliminated nearly 70% of eligible models and on Jan. 1 new price caps and limits on buyers income took effect.
Can DARPA hack into a Chevy Impala through OnStar?
Mon, Feb 9 2015An ex-video game wizard named Dan Kaufman tracked a circuitous route to becoming the head of the Software Innovation Division at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. DARPA normally makes these pages because of its work with autonomous vehicles and automobile technology that overlaps with military applications, but for the past five years Kaufman and his multiple research teams have been working on creating unhackable software code that could be used in military drones. Part of that work has involved hacking into just about everything else, and as a segment on 60 Minutes reveals, that includes cars. The masterminds discovered a way to hack into OnStar, the General Motors telematics system. After figuring out how to hook into OnStar's emergency communication system, they overwhelmed it with data. While the computer was busy trying to manage the overrun of data, the research team inserted code that took control of the sedan's other computers, giving it control. So while reporter Leslie Stahl tooled around in a parking lot, a DARPA researcher with a laptop would occasionally take control of the car, like by applying its brakes or, conversely, removing the ability for Stahl to use the brakes. Hacking into vehicles has been in the news for years: Car and Driver ran a feature on the various ways cars could be hacked in 2011, two hackers released a car-hacking code at the hacker-fest Defcon in 2013 and demonstrated how it worked on a Toyota Prius and Ford Escape, and German researchers demonstrated how they could hack into BMW's Connected Drive remote-services system last week via an attack on the cars' telematics units. This isn't about GM or Onstar or the future; hacking into cars of all kinds isn't coming, it's here, and it doesn't take the half-billion-dollar annual budget of a small DARPA division to do it. Check out the 60 Minutes video on the CBS site (you can watch the entire video from a mobile device without logging in). The OnStar hacking starts at 6:45, but it's worth watching what leads up to that. News Source: Jalopnik Chevrolet Safety Technology Infotainment Autonomous Vehicles Videos Sedan hacking 60 minutes
Top horsepower-per-dollar cars in 2017
Tue, Feb 17 2015Bang for the buck. That quasi-scientific statistic is bandied about by motor heads everywhere from classrooms to barrooms, though the truth of the matter is that it's exceedingly complex to measure. A fair performance-per-dollar index would include something like cross-referencing MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) with point-to-point times on a track or driving route, which is obviously hard to do comprehensively. But, for the sheer joy of talking about cars and playing with a big spreadsheet, there's always the horsepower-per-dollar index, which is more straightforward, albeit hilariously flawed. There are vagaries even with this simple formula, of course: MSRP for vehicles can change at a moment's notice, to say nothing of the bottom-line shifting that happens with local deals or showroom negotiation. For this list we're running with the straight MSRP wherever possible, and as recently reported as we can get it. All the vehicles on this list are 2017 models, and all trims are reported where the lowest price and differing power levels intersect. Some choices were made for personal preference and some for sanity, avoiding things like all 48 trim levels of the Ford Transit, all with the same horsepower). If this list were a simple top ten, or even a top fifty, you'd be bored to tears with all the red, white and blue that is represented. Following perfectly with conventional wisdom, American cars really do lead the world where hp/$ is concerned. So, for the sake of variety (and the sheer joy of seeing a minivan 'win' one round of this thing) I've sorted out some top five and bottom five lists for broad power categories. Let's dive in. Less Than 100 Horsepower Okay, okay, this is hardly a category we'll grant you. But we've often tried to click off all the sub-100-hp cars on sale in the US, and making this list gave us an excuse. It also illustrates that none of these smallish vehicles bring cheap horsepower to the table - for that you'll need a motorcycle. The segment-leading Chevy Spark (above) asks just over $139 for each hp, and that Smart Fortwo Electric Drive has hp on sale for about the same price as its very distant family cousin, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (insert your favorite Smart joke here... we know you want to).
