This is an original 1954 Chevrolet Belair Sport Coupe. I have a clear title in my name.  The car has not been registered or driven since 1973. The term "barn fresh" is worn out, but this Two Door Hardtop Sport Coupe was parked in a Utah carport for many years, and to call it carport fresh seems sappy.  I drained the oil, changed the spark plugs, replaced the fuel pump, hooked up an auxiliary gas tank, put in a new six volt battery, and she fired right up.  The engine sound good with no unusual noise and the car shifts smoothly.  The car is very original.  The paint is original, but oxidized and there is rust in the rockers and lower rear fenders. The original interior is serviceable, but not perfect.  All the glass is good and the windows roll up and down. The lights, horn, and brake lights work as they should. The interior chrome is in very good condition.  Please look closely at all of the photos.  I want to be sure the new owner knows exactly what they are buying.  My home phone, which is still attached to my kitchen wall, is (801) 745-0599.  My name is Bob and I will gladly answer any questions you have about the car.  The floors are dry and solid and the truck is good with a small rust problem and the passengers side. The spare tire well is good the the original spare tire is still in the trunk.  The car originally had a "Powerglide" transmission, but several years ago the Powerglide was replaced with a 1954 CHevrolet three speed manual transmission.  The Powerglide logo badge is still on the trunk lid. The reserve is very low and well under the cars value.  Good luck bidding.

As I mentioned, I want the new owner to know what they are getting.  With this in mind, I will outline the negative aspects of the car. 1. There are rust problems with the rockers on both sides and the rear lower section of the fenders are also rusted.  The frame and floors are good. There are aftermarket panels designed to correct the rust problems and a catalog comes with the car. 2. The brakes need attention. The brake master cylinder was dry after years of sitting and I think some of the wheel cylinders will need attention. 3. The interior is complete and not torn up. The front seat has a tear and the fabric is dry.  4. The gas tank has bad gas and it should be dropped and cleaned before filling it with fresh gas. This is a nice, original, Chevrolet Sport Coupe and an easy restoration project. Again, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to give me a call.

If you have less than 10 positive feedbacks in your Ebay feedback score, please call or email me before you bid.  I want this to be a good, straightforward, auction.  I don't want to stop the auction early. Please bid with confidence and give this original Chevrolet a good home. A $250.00 deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction closing.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.

MotorWeek looks back at 1995 Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon

Sat, Jun 20 2015

MotorWeek's Retro Review series gives us a nostalgic look back at some of the best sports cars and luxury sedans available in the 1980s and '90s. For its latest clip, the show shifts gears to remember the 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon. Similar to the success of crossovers today, SUVs were tallying big sales and making big money for automakers in the mid-'90s. The Tahoe and Yukon filled slots in the market as steps down from the larger Suburban. These twins weren't wanting for space, though, with plenty of room to haul around a family. MotorWeek came away generally impressed too, and called the models some "of the better riding sport utilities we've ever experienced." This review comes with some jazzy, electric guitar licks to enjoy in the background.

Coronavirus shakes up America's truck market: GM outselling Ford and Ram

Thu, Apr 2 2020

FCA, Ford and General Motors joined the rest of the U.S. auto industry in taking heavy volume hits due to coronavirus-related shortages of both cars and customers. The saying goes that a rising tide lifts all boats; it stands to reason, then, that a falling one would have the opposite effect.  However, as we learned Thursday, the automotive market can behave in unpredictable ways. While the F-Series remained the best-selling nameplate in Q1, GM's full-size trucks are now outselling Ford's again for the first time in years, and with this upward thrust from the General, FCA's Ram was unceremoniously booted out of a hard-earned second place.  While late-March sales declines hit just about every major automaker in one way or another, the model-by-model results weren't nearly so uniform. And because the market tends to be a zero-sum game, for every winner, there generally has to be a loser.  In this case, that winner was GM, and its rise had to come at the expense of another automaker, in this case, Ford. F-Series sales dropped 13.1 percent in the first quarter of 2020, while sales of GM's full-sized Silverado and Sierra surged nearly 28% in the same period. FCA's Ram lineup managed a steady-as-she-goes 7% increase. All-in, GM finished the quarter with 197,743 full-size trucks sold to Ford's 186,562. Here's the full breakdown: Ford F-Series: 186,562  Chevrolet Silverado*: 144,734 Ram P/U: 128,805 GMC Sierra: 53,009 *includes 1,036 Medium Duty sales Things are a but murkier in the midsize segment, where the Chevy Colorado slipped 36% to just 21,430 units sold — just a few hundred better than the slow-selling Ford Ranger's Q1 numbers. The GMC Canyon experienced an almost identical slide, finishing the quarter with just 4,483 units sold. For perspective, Jeep sold more than 15,000 Gladiators and Toyota's midsize Tacoma slipped less than 8%, finishing the quarter with nearly 54,000 sales.  We suspect this discrepancy in full- and mid-size truck sales comes from shifting incentives. Ford, GM and FCA would like to keep selling bigger trucks because there's far more profit margin built into their list prices. Even with tens of thousands of dollars in manufacturer money on the hood, big trucks still make money.  Since these automakers report quarterly, we won't get another good look at these numbers until July, but if you thought that 2019 represented the new normal for U.S. auto sales, well, think again.
