1954 Chevrolet Belair Hard Top 53 on 2040-cars
Cocoa Beach, Florida, United States
Please read everything............... This is an all original unrestored 54 Belair 2 Door Hardtop with the original paint. I bought this about a year ago with the intentions of restoring it, I just don't have the time & money right now. The car runs and drives and has good brakes. The original 6 starts easy & runs very well, quiet and smooth. The 3 spd.(yes it a manual shift) shifts smooth as it should. It has a new Gas tank and sender, fuel pump & fuel system cleaned, All 5 new brake clyinders, and brake hoses, new Battery. Lights and turn signals work. With new tires this car could be a driver. the interior is pretty nice for a 60 year old car, the dash is very nice, interior chrome is nice, the orig. headliner is up but has a few splits nothing hanging. has all the chrome strips in place. there are a few splits in the non orig. front seat cover, & the carpet is no good, I had the drivers door panal restored, it was a bit of a mess around the arm rest and the bottom, the pass. door panal is original as is the rest of the interior (paint etc.). The body does need some rust and dent repair. Most of the dents are to the rear quarters. I see no evidence of any collisions to the front or rear of the car. The car will need inner and outer rockers and at least 3 of the 4 rear qtr. patch panals, The back edge of the trunk floor will need repair and there is one hole in RT side trunk floor, See pic. Trunk lid is solid inside and out. Floors all there, Drivers door needs a lower outside skin, door bottoms are good. I think the front fenders are good but there is a molding over them. The upper part of the car is very solid. All the glass is good without fogging or cracks, has rare Easyeye green tinted glass, which I think makes a beautiful hardtop. (I bought the car because it was a hardtop w/green glass and a manual trans. a somewhat rare combo.) I have one 1/4 patch panal you can see in the trunk and inner and outer rocker panals (4pc.) new unopened in the box that I didn't take pictures of, and a nice used hood bird will come with the car. Please look at the pictures carefully and ask questions before bidding. Richard 321-480-3723. The mileage may or may not be correct at this time. Ok now the rules and I hate putting all this stuff in the listing for the few, but here we go... If for any reason you feel you may not be able to complete this transaction please don't bid, these ebay adds are expensive, and please have some respect for my time too. if you have less than 10 pos. feedbacks contact me before you bid or your bid is will be automaticlly removed. Contact me anyway before you bid so we can talk about the car !!!.... A deposit of 500.00 is expected within 24 hrs. of the ending of the auction. Please contact me at the end of the auction. If I do not hear from you with in 24 hrs. I will take that as no one really bought the car and the car will be relisted. As you can see I almost expect to do this a few times before the car is really sold (this ain't my first rodeo on ebay) so please be a good comunicator with me. Please don't ask me how much to ship (ask a shipping co.) I'm not the one bringing it to you. I paid 1000.00 from Utah a year ago, I will be happy to help load and store for one month. This car is not for sale locally, and will be sold here at ebay only. This is a no reserve auction highest bidder wins. Thank you for looking!!! And please feel free to call me about anything!

First-edition Detroit muscle raises millions for charity at Barrett-Jackson
Mon, Jan 19 2015Amidst all the classic metal crossing the auction block each year in Scottsdale, AZ, Detroit automakers have a tradition of donating the first examples of their most enticing new muscle cars, with the proceeds of their sales going towards worthwhile charities. This year, Barrett-Jackson handled three noteworthy examples. The highest price among them was the first Ford Shelby GT350R Mustang with the VIN #001, which raised $1 million for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. General Motors donated the first new Chevy Corvette Z06 Convertible, the first retail example of the droptop supercar garnering $800,000 for the United Way. Along with the Z06, GM also donated the first new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V sedan, which brought in $170,000 for Detroit's College for Creative Studies. Although these were the headline Motown muscle machines furnished by the automakers themselves, they weren't the only vehicles auctioned off for worthy causes. A 1950 GM Futurliner bus donated by collector Ron Pratte led the charge when it brought in $4.65 million for the Armed Forces Foundation. Other lots included a custom Jeep Wrangler donated by SEMA ($85k), a new M5 donated by BMW ($800k), a '79 Oldsmobile Cutlass Hurst ($140k), '39 Cadillac LaSalle C-Hawk ($410k), Jeff Gordon's 1999 NASCAR-spec Chevy Monte Carlo ($500k) and a Victory Cross Country 8-Ball motorcycle ($180k). All told, the charity lots raised over $8.7 million for local and national charities. Recharge Wrap-up: BMW cars to share i tech, Jordan to build solar EV charging network
Wed, Jan 14 2015Jordan is looking to promote EVs and build a solar charging network. The country is waiving import tariffs on electric cars, and is spending $120 million on solar chargers. It plans to build 3,000 charging stations, along with 30 MW of solar power. Some chargers will be powered by solar canopies, while others will get electricity from nearby solar farms. Jordan's solar plan should also help to lessen the amount of energy it needs to import from nearby countries. Read more from Navigant Research, or at Green Car Reports. BMW's mainstream cars will benefit from technology borrowed from the i3 and i8, according to BMW sales head Ian Robertson. In an interview with Automotive News, Robertson said that next-generation cars will use carbon fiber more extensively, and that more cars will get plug-in technology. He said that about half of i3 buyers opt for the range extender and added that it is incorrect to refer to a range-extended electric vehicle as a plug-in hybrid. Read more at Automotive News. The ethanol market should remain healthy despite falling oil prices. While cheap oil could drive down ethanol prices, demand still remains due to the federal biofuels standard. Additionally, ethanol producers may find it cheaper to ship their products as domestic oil production drops and railroad shipping opens up. Ethanol byproducts like distillers grains continue to sell, and foreign demand continues as other countries impose their own renewable fuel standards. Read more at Yahoo News. Via Motors will launch the production of an electric Chevrolet Silverado. The company will convert the pickups into range-extended EVs at its assembly line in Mexico, near GM's Silverado plant. GM's MPG overstatement could affect 2 million vehicles
Tue, May 17 2016Late last week, GM admitted that three of its large SUVs fuel economy window stickers did not match their actual efficiency ratings, and so the vehicles couldn't be sold. The stickers on the 2016 Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave said their ratings were one to two miles per gallon better than they should have been. Officially, the number of affected vehicles sits at about 60,000. But Consumer Reports makes a good point: what's up with all of the previous model year SUVs that are basically the same vehicle? To wit: the 2016 model year vehicles are not substantially different than the 2015 or the 2014, or even going all the way back to 2007. On the EPA's fuel economy website, all of these older models will "have better stated fuel economy numbers than the new vehicles in GM's dealerships," Consumer Reports noted. CR's best point, and the one that makes the 60,000 number potentially grow to 2 million if all of the vehicles built on this platform are affected, is that "[i]t seems unlikely that the company would change the powertrain on these carryover models so late in their model cycles in a way that would cause a dramatic, negative impact on fuel economy." GM says that earlier model year SUVs are not affected and the EPA did not respond to CR's question about the potential for more discrepancies. We've seen automakers reverse course before, so if GM has to come out with a mea culpa soon, don't be surprised. GM is rushing corrected stickers to dealers so that the SUVs can be sold again, but a fix for the already-sold vehicles could be trickier to solve.
