I am new to Ebay but am a business owner here in South Florida. You will have a smooth transaction.

I am selling my Bel Air at No Reserve. I paid a lot for my 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe. You will be buying a great classic ready to drive.

The car has been restored and was purchased this way by me. Everything is like new as you can see by the photos. The interior has been completely redone and is beautiful teal and white. The dash is perfect. All gauges are new and function perfectly. The dash panels have been re done, everything works including the wipers, lights, etc. The car has new white wall tires, the chrome is in very good shape. I would say most chrome is 9/10. The rear bumper has some surface scratching on it but nothing bad. The car has a flat thunder black paint job on it with matching teal stripes. I will say the paint is 8/10. It's a good paint job but not great. No major flaws but it's not the quality I would like to see on the car. Everyone that sees it thinks it's amazing but I might have went solid black or a different two tone. All preference, I suppose.

The motor is a 292 straight 6 with headers and cam and also has polished valve cover. New radiator and all new parts. Driven only 1,700 miles since restoration. The car runs great and I have personally taken it on several pretty long road trips. Have seen no leaks, No strange smells and no issues of any sort. Starts right up every time. Also has a CD player installed and new speakers. The 1953 Bel Air sports coupe holds the 2nd highest value next to the convertible.

TERMS:

Local pick up is welcome. I accept cash only. I will not accept any checks at all. If you want to pay by cashiers check I will release the car only after the check clears the bank. Yes, even cashiers checks have holds for a day or two and can be cancelled.

I will accept bank wire or cashiers check ONLY for payment if you are having the car shipped. I will only ship when funds are available in my account.

PLEASE make sure you can make payment in full within 3 days and have your funds available. I am NOT accepting PayPal.

Please don't bid if you don't agree with any of my terms. I am selling the car to pay some medical expenses and I want a smooth sale.

So these are my terms. It's a great car. Please feel free to email me anytime to ask any questions about the car. I will do my very best to answer any and all questions.

I might consider ending the auction for a serious buyer making a fair offer as I do need the funds. Other then that it's a No Reserve auction! Have fun and good luck!

NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022

Thu, Mar 17 2016

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.

Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.

Plug In 2014: VIA makes the case for 'free' plug-in hybrid work vans, trucks

Fri, Aug 1 2014

If you're a fleet manager who's been waiting anxiously for the chance to buy a plug-in hybrid van from Via Motors, your wait is almost over. If you work for the right fleet, anyway. David West, the chief marketing efficer for VIA Motors, took AutoblogGreen for a ride around the San Jose Convention Center in a Via van sporting an Electric Blue paint job as part of the Plug In 2014 Conference this week and gave us an update on how things are coming along. The big news is that the Via PHEV van production is going to start by the end of September. Via can currently build two vans an hour at its production plant in Mexico, or about 16 a day and could easily double that. "That would get us to 20,000 a year with two full lines running," West said. "We have the capacity." "There is no way gas can compete with electric." – David West, Via Motors But they can't sell that many quite yet. By the end of December, around 350 Vans will be made, mostly for a $20-million program from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the South Coast Air Quality Management District that will see the vehicles used by fleets that will report energy data to the Idaho National Lab. Via is also finishing up CARB certification for both the van and the company's plug-in hybrid pick-up truck. About 50 percent of Via's technology in the truck will not need to be tested again, since it's the same as what's in the van, but things like crash tests will need to be done twice. Despite the progress, this is not where Via hoped it would be today. The bankruptcy of battery supplier A123, "took about a year off our timeline," West said. "It's been getting a little slow getting it to market, there have been some challenges, particuarly since we had the country's worst recession right in the middle of this wrap up, but it's inevitable in my mind. There is no way gas can compete with electric." Maybe that's why FedEx has expressed an interest in buying around 5,000 units, West said. FedEx already has some pilot vehicles, just like Verizon does, and PG&E wants to replace all of their gas trucks with electric vehicles, which would be another 3,000 sales, he said. Besides the fuel savings, vehicles like these, with easy on-site power generation, could also work wonders in post-disaster situations, he said, since they could replace the need for generators.
