Fly in or have a friend drive you into Tulsa, OK., and you can drive this little jewel home.  I can cruise 60 - 65 mph on the interstate and this car handles superbly.  No shakes, shimmy's, vibration of any kind.  I took my '56 Belair on the Hotrod tour from Tulsa to LA and return with absolutely no problems, and I would not be afraid to do the same with this '52.  It has never been cut up, chopped, or modified, and maintains its original stance.  I did put new Firestone bias ply 8 years ago and they still look like new... however, they are bias ply and not radials.  I was trying to keep it as original as I could...  However, my '56 with Coker wide-white radials do make a little difference in handling and braking.

Last fall, I took off the bumpers, bumper guards, and front center piece and had them all rechromed.  While that was being done, I blocked the old paint and shot two new coats of acrylic urthane on the bottom (GM color Honeydew).  The top is acceptable as is... but would be an easy redo as well... The bumpers are back on and I used all new hardware from NationalChevy for my parts order.  I have a new set of Ivory window crank knobs that will be included in the sell.  Also included will be the new door weather stripping and trunk weather seal.

I had this car listed a few weeks back without the bumpers and some old pictures... I decided after the auction ended to dress it up a little more before listing it again.  I also purchased some years back a sunvisor, extra front grill, and set of (wrong year) fender skirts.  All of those items are also included in the sell.

I had a very small oil leak so I decided to replace the valve cover and side cover gaskets... I did a complete oil change at the same time.  My original owners manual says it takes 5 quarts with a filter replacement... note that these were dealer installed OEM canisters...  For some strange reason, my car needs 5 and 3/4 quarts of oil in order to be on the full mark.  I have measured my dipstick and tube, they are correct.  This could be why it seeps a little at the rear of the pan when it sits for long periods...  I have talked to a lot of stovebolt 6 experts and they are dumbfounded....  I should mention that it does not burn oil, tranny fluid, or use any brake fluid.

My reason for selling, is stated on my video... We are retiring and my wife and I plan on moving back to Arizona in the next year... so it's time to let this baby find a new home. I may sell others but for now this is the only one ready to go......

I have a cell phone and don't mind taking calls, just be patient if I don't answer.... I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Note: The very last picture was taken several years ago... all of the other pictures were taken in the last few days... she has only gotten better!

Detroit 3 to implement delayed unified towing standards for 2015

Tue, Feb 11 2014

Car buyers have a responsibility to be well-informed consumers. That's not always a very simple task, but some guidelines are self-evident. If you live in a very snowy climate, you generally know a Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro might not be as viable a vehicle choice as an all-wheel drive Explorer or Traverse, for example. If you want a fuel-efficient car, it's generally a good idea to know the difference between a diesel and a hybrid. But what if it's kind of tough to be an informed consumer? What if the information you need is more difficult to come by, or worse, based on different standards for each vehicle? Well, in that case, you might be a truck shopper. For years, customers of light-duty pickups have had to suffer through different ratings of towing capacities for each brand. For 2015 model year trucks, though, that will no longer be a problem. According to Automotive News, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler Group have announced that starting with next year's models, a common standard will be used to measure towing capacity. The Detroit Three will join Toyota, which adopted the Society of Automotive Engineers' so-called SAE J2807 standards way back in 2011. The standard was originally supposed to be in place for MY2013, but concerns that it would lower the overall stated capacity for trucks led Detroit automakers to pass. Ford originally passed, claiming it'd wait until its new F-150 was launched to adopt the new standards, leading GM and Ram to follow suit. Nissan, meanwhile, has said it will adopt the new standards as its vehicles are updated, meaning the company's next-generation Titan should adhere to the same tow ratings as its competitors. While the adoption of SAE J2807 will be helpful for light-duty customers, those interested in bigger trucks will still be left with differing standards. There is no sign of the new tow standards being adopted for the heavy-duty market.

Chevy to show redesigned Captiva in Geneva, will it come to US rental lots?

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

Unless you're renting a car or driving through Orlando, Florida (the rental car capital of the US), you'll probably never see a Chevrolet Captiva - the rebadged, fleet-only version of the old Saturn Vue - on our roads, but this crossover is popular in many other parts of the world. As such, Chevrolet announced that the Captiva will be getting an update for 2013, which will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
Coming off a pretty extensive refresh in 2011, the 2013 model year will bring even more changes to the Captiva like LED taillights, new 18-inch wheels and revised fascias with a new grille and fog lights up front and inset chrome exhaust outlets at the rear. New interior features include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control as well as available options on some of the upper trim levels such as leather seating and keyless entry and start. We have yet to hear back from Chevrolet as to whether or not the updated Captiva will be making its way to a rental lot near you, as the model is only available in the US to fleet buyers.
Alongside the updated Captiva, Chevy is also showing off its new Trax in Europe, where the subcompact crossover will go on sale this spring. GM's press release for these two Geneva-bound models is posted below.

2015 Chevy Tahoe gets Police Patrol Vehicle treatment

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

That was fast. Mere days after showing a Police Concept based on the 2015 Tahoe at the SEMA Show, Chevrolet has announced that it will build a PPV model based on the SUV to do battle with the Ford Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer) and Dodge Durango Special Service.
You'll recall that the Tahoe has been police staple for several years, predating both the Explorer and Durango police variants, so the fact that the new model would spawn a police variant is hardly surprising. Like the civilian model, the 2015 PPV benefits from a more efficient 5.3-liter, direct-injection V8 that pumps out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. It also features more high-strength steel, offering better crash protection, on top of optional safety items like lane departure warning, forward collision alert and a Safety Alert Seat.
The press release is rather light on police-specific items, aside from the auxiliary battery, which keeps the myriad of electronics in a modern police car running even when the engine isn't. Lightbars, 17-inch steel wheels on Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires and a push bar round out the mods for the Tahoe PPV. The cabin features a revised center console and room for laptop and other equipment mounts.
