I am selling this car for the family of the recently deceased owner, who was a friend of mine. The car has been in his family since it was new. His brother bought the car new in Bonham, Texas and then traded it in for a new '52 when those came out. My deceased friend David learned that his brother had traded the car in to the dealer, and promptly bought it back from the dealer in 1952 and kept it until his passing about three months ago. He restored the car about 20 years ago, so it might be called an older restoration. At that time it received new paint, an engine overhaul, and the correct LeBaron-Bonney interior upholstery. It has been garaged since then  and driven mainly in parades and antique car club functions. Since his death, the car has not been moved or started, so it may require a battery charge or a new battery and some fresh gas--possibly draining the tank of the old gas, but it ran well when I took these photos last fall. The car has rarely ventured very far from Bonham, Texas and that is where it is located now (northeast of Dallas near Oklahoma border). I will make sure it runs and can be driven onto a trailer or transport truck before it leaves here. The license plate is current and you might be able to drive it home, but I do not know the age of the fan belt, hoses, and tires.

It is equipped with a six-cylinder engine (the original one, as far as I know), three-speed manual shift transmission on the steering column, fender skirts, an after-market split exhaust manifold, and after-market dual exhausts radio, and clock. It still has the six-volt electrical system. There is no rust in the trunk floor nor the interior floors. It has been a northeast Texas car since new, so never any road salt exposure. The only body filler that I know of is some in the lower rear corner of the passenger door, due to a dent there long ago. Consequently, that corner sticks out about an eighth to a 16th of an inch when the door is fully closed. All other body lines and seams line up well, and the doors, hood, and trunk lid close and open easily. The car does not overheat in parades and does not smoke excessively out the exhaust. I have known the car for 22 years and in that time it has never been abused, never sat outside overnight, and rarely gone more than 20 or 30 miles from home.

If I owned the car, I would clean and repaint the engine in a proper gray color, and I would have the bumpers replated because they are a bit dull and not up to the quality and condition of the rest of the car, which is very nice.

I can recommend a car hauling firm in Dallas, if need be, but you need to get your own quotes for hauling it. There is a fair reserve price on the car--please do not ask what it is, as that gives some bidders unfair advantage over others. I expect a $500 deposit from the winning bidder within 48 hours of the auction's conclusion, and full payment within 10 days of auction's conclusion. Failure to comply with EITHER one of these conditions will result in default and the car will then be offered to the runner up bidder. The car can stay where it is for another 30 days, but after that, you need to make other arrangements or pay the owners for storage. Title is free and clear. I will try to answer all questions, but the person who knew the car best is gone now. It was his "baby" and he took very good care of it as long as his health held up. Car is in a locked garage about 4 miles north of Bonham, Texas 75418. I do have a pickup truck and open trailer, so there is a possibility that I could deliver it for my expenses, provided the car is paid in full first.

Can DARPA hack into a Chevy Impala through OnStar?

An ex-video game wizard named Dan Kaufman tracked a circuitous route to becoming the head of the Software Innovation Division at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. DARPA normally makes these pages because of its work with autonomous vehicles and automobile technology that overlaps with military applications, but for the past five years Kaufman and his multiple research teams have been working on creating unhackable software code that could be used in military drones. Part of that work has involved hacking into just about everything else, and as a segment on 60 Minutes reveals, that includes cars. The masterminds discovered a way to hack into OnStar, the General Motors telematics system. After figuring out how to hook into OnStar's emergency communication system, they overwhelmed it with data. While the computer was busy trying to manage the overrun of data, the research team inserted code that took control of the sedan's other computers, giving it control. So while reporter Leslie Stahl tooled around in a parking lot, a DARPA researcher with a laptop would occasionally take control of the car, like by applying its brakes or, conversely, removing the ability for Stahl to use the brakes. Hacking into vehicles has been in the news for years: Car and Driver ran a feature on the various ways cars could be hacked in 2011, two hackers released a car-hacking code at the hacker-fest Defcon in 2013 and demonstrated how it worked on a Toyota Prius and Ford Escape, and German researchers demonstrated how they could hack into BMW's Connected Drive remote-services system last week via an attack on the cars' telematics units. This isn't about GM or Onstar or the future; hacking into cars of all kinds isn't coming, it's here, and it doesn't take the half-billion-dollar annual budget of a small DARPA division to do it. GM and Isuzu to partner for medium-duty commercial truck

General Motors is returning to the medium-duty truck business in the US for the first time since 2009 thanks to a new deal with longtime-partner Isuzu. The arrangement brings the Isuzu N-series models to Chevrolet dealers with the Bowtie's branding on them in 2016. There are six medium-duty Chevy models arriving at dealers in regular cab and crew cab bodies: the 3500, 3500HD, 4500, 4500HD, 5500, and 5500HD. The trucks will be sold as a bare chassis for buyers to outfit to their needs. Depending on model, customers will have the choice of an Isuzu-sourced 3.0-liter and 5.2-liter diesel engines or a 6.0-liter V8 gasoline-fueled engine from GM and six-speed gearbox. According to company spokesperson Bob Wheeler to Autoblog, the diesel models will be built in Japan and the rest assembled from knockdown kits in Charlotte, MI. This kind of vehicle sharing isn't uncommon for GM in the commercial segment, and it already partners with Nissan to use the Japanese brand's NV200 as the City Express van. The General also once owned a significant stake in Isuzu, and the two have remained collaborators even since then. Isuzu and GM Enter Commercial Vehicle Collaboration Agreement in the U.S. 2015-06-15 DETROIT and FUJISAWA, Japan – General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) and Isuzu Motors (TSE 7202) have reached an agreement on a U.S. commercial vehicle collaboration, allowing Isuzu to strengthen its product lineup and GM to expand its commercial vehicle portfolio. Isuzu will produce low cab forward models for GM, based off of the Isuzu N-Series. The vehicles will be distributed by participating Chevrolet dealers in the U.S. market starting in 2016. To strengthen the product lineup, GM and Isuzu will explore the use of GM commercial vehicle components for Isuzu low cab forward trucks and GM will continue to produce and supply the 6.0L V-8 gas engine and six-speed transmission for Isuzu gasoline-powered low cab forward trucks. Isuzu and GM have maintained a strategic partnership for more than 40 years, producing collaborative business opportunities throughout the world. First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph

Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product.
