Lt Crew Pickup 5.3l V8 K 1500 4 Wheel Drive With Snug Top Shell on 2040-cars
Higbee, Missouri, United States
We affectionatlely named this vehicle "Arlo". He has been a wonderful truck and we have had no trouble with him EXCEPT FOR ONE MAJOR THING. He was burning a quart of oil every 1200 miles! GM has known about this "Oil consumption issue" on their 07 and 08 5.3L engines for a long time and has said that an oil consumption rate of one quart per 2500 miles was "NORMAL"! Here's the GOOD NEWS: CROWN CHEVROLET IN REDDING, CA. (Purchased there) REPLACED ARLO'S ENGINE (LONG BLOCK REPLACED AT 88796 miles ) BECAUSE WE BOUGHT A TOP OF THE LINE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT IS TRANSFERRABLE AND GOOD UNTIL 105,262 MILES. I am a 60 year old careful driver and I have always driven Arlo carefully and broke in the new engine exactly as instructed. This engine burns no oil. If you are serious about buying a GM Truck with the factory installed 5.3L engine (07-08),do yourself a favor and GOOGLE: Chevy Avalanche Oil Consumption. This will partially explain why there are so many of these vehicles for sale. Arlo is in great condition and we are letting him go because we are about to build a new home on our 50 acre land and we don't want to beat him up driving on rough roads through brush and trees carrying construction stuff. We will be buying a beater truck for this purpose. We have owned Arlo since Sept. 2012. We are the 4th owner. I believe that it has transferred owners so many times because of the oil consumption issue. We bought a tent trailer last year and had the electric brake controller installed, so your ready to go for towing. I think the best investment we made for Arlo, though, was the SNUG TOP SHELL for him. As you know, the Chevy Avalanche is one of the most versatile vehicles ever made. Add a water tight shell to it ( $3500. new) and it almost doubles in the versatility department. If for no other reason, it keeps the tonnau covers looking new! We can possibly deliver this vehicle to you if you live in the Northwest part of the US. We are going back to Northern California from Missouri for the summer and we can tow our Prius behind it to your house on our way.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial
Sat, 16 Mar 2013
The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
This 450-hp electric Lotus Evora is powered by Tesla and Chevrolet
Tue, May 9 2017When someone mentions an electric Lotus, the first thing that comes to mind is the Tesla Roadster, the California-based automaker's first vehicle. That car started life as an Elise before being heavily massaged and adapted by Tesla's engineers. In a similar spirit, the people at Onpoint Dyno are close to finishing Blue Lightning, a track-ready all-electric Lotus Evora. Blue Lightning uses a Tesla drive unit and a Chevrolet Volt battery pack, both mounted in the middle in place of the Evora's 3.5-liter Toyota V6. It's putting down about 450 horsepower at the wheels. The car was built for time attack sessions, so power is fed through custom forged wheels and super sticky Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires, the same ones found on the last Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. There is a custom digital instrument cluster in place of the Lotus gauges. There's also a regen paddle on the left side of the steering wheel. With a full charge, Blue Lighting should go about 120 miles. While the car runs under its own power, it's only about 90 percent complete. It has no power steering, no firewall in between the seats and the motor and battery pack, no A/C, and a large hole where the shift lever used to be. Other final touches include fine-tuning the brakes and suspension. There is also a custom rear bumper coming that should make it look more like the new Lotus Evora 400. Onpoint Dyno expects the car to hit the track in the next month or so. Related Video:
GM drops diesel engines for 2020 Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain crossovers
Fri, Jul 12 2019GM is officially discontinuing the diesel engine in the Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain for the 2020 model year. The 1.6-liter turbodiesel was always an oddball of an engine in the compact crossover segment, and now the experiment has come to an end. The Car Connection initially reported the news, and a GMC spokesperson, Stuart Fowle, confirmed it to us this morning. “A huge majority of our Terrain customers have opted for one of our two gas engines," says Fowle. We canÂ’t say this eventuality comes as a massive surprise, as we saw news from couple of months ago that GM was dropping all-wheel drive from the diesel-powered cars for 2020. Low demand was cited as the reason for that cull, and itÂ’s the same for the little GM crossovers this time around, too. These vehicles were the only ones powered with a diesel engine in their class, but thatÂ’s going to be changing. Just as GM is going away from the diesel, Mazda is finally bringing its diesel to market in the CX-5. YouÂ’ll only be able to get that engine in the most expensive ($42,045) trim level, combined with all-wheel drive, though. The cheapest Equinox diesel starts at a comparably low $30,795. ThatÂ’s a $2,400 upcharge over the base 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder, and the value is questionable. Mileage is better, but diesel fuel is more expensive. Towing capability didnÂ’t increase over the base engineÂ’s 1,500-pound capacity, but the extra torque around town was nice. As diesels go in the U.S., this one was rather rough and noisy, possibly contributing to some turning their noses up after a test drive. Perhaps another reason for its demise was that the much quicker 2.0-liter turbo Equinox was only $100 more than the diesel. This engine offered significantly better towing at 3,500 pounds, too. You can read all about what we thought of the diesel in our first drive review here, but the 2019 model year is the last one if you had it on your shortlist.
