Up for auction today is my 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche Z66. This truck has been meticulously maintained and is in excellent condition and will be sold with a clear Texas title. Vehicle is currently registered and inspected in the State of Texas with the inspection expiring in April 2013.. I purchased the truck used in 2007 from Ron Carter in Alvin Texas with about 60K miles and believe I am the second owner. Has been a great truck and has been extremely reliable but we are up to 6 vehicles now so it's time to start selling rather than buying for once. I do drive the truck every day so the mileage will be change throughout the duration of the auction. Since I have owned the vehicle the following items have be repaired or replaced. Transmission was rebuilt at 150K miles by All American Transmission in Houston, Texas. The ABS control module was replaced at about 135K miles with a new unit. A K&N filter was installed at about 95K miles. The parking lights and fog lights were replaced with new ones about 2 months ago as they were getting cloudy and dull looking. The brakes were replaced at about 100K miles at which time all the rotors were turned and all the wheel bearings replaced. The U-Joints were replaced at about 75K miles. The windshield was replaced at about 120K miles because a rock hit it. Other than that the truck has just had regular routine maintenance and the oil has been changed every 3-4k miles since I have owned it. There are a few discrepancies to note... there is a small tear in the drivers seat in the left lumbar area (pictured) from getting in and out. There are about 3 small cigarette burns which were there when I purchased the vehicle. One on the drivers side sunvisor, one in the drivers seat and a tiny one on the passenger seat. I had planned on replacing both front seat covers due to the rip but have not had the time. There are currently 2 brand new sets of OEM seat covers on EBAY item #230664748762 if you decide you would like to replace them which was what I planned to do but again no time. The CD player can be picky about loading... it works and plays fine it just can be finicky to load sometimes. The only other item to note is the PRND21 on the dash does not illuminate. It went out about 50k miles ago and again I just haven't had the time to send if off to be repaired. D has been in the same place on a column shifter since the 1950's so you shouldn't have any issues finding gears without the display. Other than that the AC blows cold, heater blows hot, and all electrical systems operate as they should. I have 2 sets of keys and 2 remotes. There is no check engine or warning lights and all emissions systems operate as they should. Tires are Goodyear Wranglers and have about 65-75% left with good tread. Truck will also come with a Prodigy P2 electronic brake controller which was top of the line when I bought it last year. It's super easy to program and will come with the original box from when I purchased it. If you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to bidding. I have described the vehicle to the best of my knowledge. You will not be disappointed. I will help coordinate transportation if required but at the cost of the buyer. A non-fundable $500.00 dollar deposit is due within 48 hours of auction ending. I prefer PP but will accept Money Order, or cash. Remaining balance must be recieved within 7 days of close of auction. All sales are final with no warranties expressed or implied. Good luck and happy bidding.

GM puts 3 million miles on hydrogen fuel cell test fleet
Mon, May 12 2014Have General Motors' hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles emitted enough water vapor over the past six-plus years to equal the steam coming out of Old Faithful? Not exactly, but GM has released a few figures related to the Project Driveway initiative it began in 2007. The numbers are impressive, if not quite of the geyser-spouting variety. In all, the General converted 119 Chevrolet Equinox SUVs to run on hydrogen, and those vehicles have just collectively surpassed the 3 million mile mark. And if you were waiting for us to tell you that the distance equals a half-dozen round trips between the earth and the moon, well, there you go. The better news is that the SUVs have combined to save almost 158,000 gallons worth of gas, and some of the vehicles have more than 120,000 miles on them. More than 5,000 drivers have participated in the project. GM reached that landmark about 10 months after it announced that it was working with Honda to accelerate the development of hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain technology. The two companies estimated last summer that it may have something to sell to the public as soon as 2020. For now, you can check out General Motors' press release below. GM Fuel Cell Fleet Tops 3 Million Miles Chevrolet Equinox fuel cell vehicles driven in real world reach milestone DETROIT – General Motors' fleet of fuel cell vehicles recently passed 3 million miles of hydrogen-powered, real-world driving. Some individual vehicles have accumulated more than 120,000 miles. By GM's estimate, using hydrogen to power these vehicles, the fleet has avoided 157,894 gallons of gasoline consumption. This specially equipped fleet of Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell vehicles are part of GM's 119-vehicle Project Driveway program, which launched in 2007. Since then, more than 5,000 drivers have provided feedback on the functionality and drivability of fuel cell technology. "Hydrogen fuel cell technology is an important part of GM's advanced propulsion portfolio and we continue to make substantial progress in furthering this technology," said Charlie Freese, executive director of GM's global fuel cell engineering activities. "These vehicles have operated through seven full winters and a wide range of environmental conditions, proving that fuel cells can meet the demands of real-world drivers." Last year, GM announced two fuel cell-related collaborations.
Stolen '57 Chevy Returned To Owner After 30 Years
Fri, Feb 21 2014Three decades after it was stolen, a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air has been returned to a Northern California man - in better shape than when he originally owned it. The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports Ian "Skip" Wilson was shocked to get a call from the California Highway Patrol informing him that his long-lost Chevy was taken off an Australia-bound cargo ship. The 65-year-old says the car has had a lot of work done on it since it disappeared from his Lake County home in 1984. It was returned with a monogrammed interior, 17-inch racing wheels, rack-and-pinion steering and a 350-horsepower V-8 engine. The retired mechanic says the two-door was in sorry shape when he bought it for $375 in 1975 with plans for fixing it up. 2023 Grand National Roadster Show Mega Photo Gallery | Hot rod heaven
Wed, Feb 8 2023POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods. However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows. Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS. Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence. Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.
