2004 Chevrolet Astro Base Extended Cargo Van 3-door 4.3l on 2040-cars
Island Lake, Illinois, United States
2004 Astro AWD V6 Cargo Van ~ No Reserve Runs, drives and tows great!! All Wheel Drive great in snow!! Has dents/dings/scratches but none major. No major rust or holes, etc. Great personal work van I just needed bigger one. I've owned it since 2010 and maintained it well. Besides the new tranny and exhaust, all work done at Pep Boys, I have receipts for everything since I've owned it. NEW: Transmission Chevy Dealer Installed 130K Aftermarket 2” hitch insert with 2“ ball, 4-plug wire. It has a factory "tow/haul" feature on steering column. It has a thick protective rubber mat covering the entire floor, I think aftermarket.
Here's what you might want to fix but won't stop you from putting it to work today: There is a "check engine" light on, Pep Boys said it's just emissions related. Heater/AC/Defrost works but only on 3/4 fan setting. Back door handle is broken off, rigged with wire to release it. Lock/latch works perfect. Seats are torn on sitting surfaces (backs are not damaged), covered with cushions and cloth covers that aren't bad. Power locks repeatedly click trying to relock I think it's a dirty connection somewhere, it annoyed me so I pulled the fuse it's in the glovebox. (All locks work manually) The red button on the dash is for a beeping reverse alarm but it stopped working last year. The weather stripping around the back doors is not great especially at the bottom. (Sliding door and passenger doors are fine.) Interior steel door for the cargo area is missing.
I've tried to list everything I can think of, feel free to ask questions. Also for sale locally (Island Lake IL) so auction may end at any time. Title is free & clear in my name, no leins. SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY PLEASE! $300 NON REFUNDABLE Paypal deposit due within 24hrs, full amount due at pick up within 7 Days of end of auction. IT"S A GREAT VAN GOOD LUCK BIDDING! |

Watch NASCAR racer Jeff Gordon put one over on a used car dealer... sorta
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Full Disclosure: in my younger days, I loved nothing more than tormenting passengers with my behind-the-wheel hijinks. Once, after a particularly artful handbrake turn on a two-lane at around 50 miles per hour, I left one backseat occupant crying in their own lap. This isn't necessarily something to be proud of, but it gives you a glimpse into why it is that I find this ad from Pepsi so damn disappointing. The premise is beautiful. Take NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon, give him a disguise and set him loose upon some unsuspecting used car dealer. Hilarity ensues.
Except that this Pepsi Max commercial is so obviously staged, it can't help but feel like some ham-fisted marketing fail. From the strategically placed aftermarket cupholder mounted mid-dash for the hidden camera to the fact that the supposed dealer Camaro is displayed as a 2009 model (Hint: Chevrolet didn't make any), this clip is about as organic as a Twinkie. Still, we would never turn down a chance to watch Gordon thrash on a rental-spec coupe - only problem is, he probably didn't even do the driving himself. Check it out below.
Junkyard Gem: 1980 Chevrolet LUV Mikado
Sat, Oct 9 2021During the 1970s and into the 1980s, each member of the Detroit Big Three imported Japanese small pickups and sold them with Ford (Mazda Proceed), Dodge/Plymouth (Mitsubishi Forte), or Chevrolet (Isuzu Faster) badges here. Ford developed the Ranger and killed the Courier for 1983 (though Americans could still buy the Mazda-badged version all the way through 1993), while The General axed the LUV after the S-10 debuted in the 1982 model year. Isuzu sold the same truck as the P'up through 1987, though, and we might as well follow up our recent P'up Junkyard Gem with its LUV predecessor. LUV stood for Light Utility Vehicle, and I've managed to spot a handful in the boneyards over the years. This one now resides in a yard in northeastern Colorado. The Mikado trim package included striped seat upholstery and a sporty steering wheel, plus these cool dash badges. As far as I can tell, no LUV Mikado advertising featured any Gilbert and Sullivan tunes. This one is fairly rusty for Front Range Colorado, and it has endured a bed swap from some other small truck. The engine is the 75-horse Isuzu 1.8-liter. Members of this engine family went into everything from Chevy Chevettes to Isuzu Troopers in the United States. Very unusually for a small pickup during the Malaise Era, this one has a luxurious automatic transmission. Acceleration must have been a leisurely affair in this truck. Air conditioning? Unheard of! Someone stuck every one of their lunchtime apple stickers on the driver's door. After 41 years of work, this truck is done. Come on strong in a LUV of your own!
'84 MotorWeek Cherokee, Bronco and Blazer comparison indulges your SUV nostalgia
Fri, Jan 16 2015These days, truck-based, full-frame SUVs are somewhat of a rarity on the auto landscape due to the rapid rise in popularity of easier-driving, car-based crossovers. Although, without the gradually building popularity of these chunky, high-riding vehicles decades ago, it's unlikely that America's roads would be filled with so many CUVs today. In its latest dig into the archives, MotorWeek has found a 1984 comparison test of a trio of these early Sport Utility Wagons, as long-time host John Davis called them, that helped get acceptance of this segment going. This is a red, white and blue test of the SUVs from American automakers at the time and pits the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Bronco and Jeep Cherokee (specifically in Wagoneer guise) against each other. Driving manners and interior usability are considered in the evaluation, but Motorweek actually takes these vehicles off road, too. Among the bigger revelations is the improvement in on-road ability in the past 30 years. While specific 0-60 times aren't given, all three models take around 10 seconds just to get to around 50 miles per hour in the 500-feet on-ramp acceleration test. Check out this clip to see just how far this segment has progressed in the past three decades or just get a blast of nostalgia from these now vintage models.
