1998 Chevy Astro Van Rwd, 254,478 Miles, Runs Good, With Many, Many Extras! on 2040-cars
Wyandanch, New York, United States
Up for auction is a well-cared for Chevy Astro. This Astro Van has the perfect set up for Road Trips, Tail Gate Partying, and Work. Fact is that Engine Oil is the life blood of your vehicle’s engine and I always changed it every 3 months or 3000 miles (usually every 3 months). I drive daily about 10 miles to and from work and school. And on the weekends I rarely go over 25 miles. I got this Astro in 2009 and I have done plenty of work to it which I have listed. I will also be including in the auction all the original working parts I removed, and extra parts I haven’t had the chance to replace. All parts replaced were new except for the hydraulic brake booster. I had many more plans for this Astro but unfortunately my situation has changed and I no longer have the space or funds to keep it. I live in the Bronx but the van is currently at my in-laws house in Wyandanch NY, L.I.E. off exit 51. The Good = Religiously changed the oil and oil filter, Transmission
filter and fluid, Preformed a FULL Tune up, REPLACED the water pump, thermostat,
upper and lower hoses, heater control valve, thermostatic fan clutch, tensioner
pulley, idler pulleys, alternator, drive belt, vacuum hoses, The ENTIRE ac
system (compressor, evaporator, condenser, expansion valve) front shocks, rear
shocks (replaced with air shocks controlled by an air valve under rear bumper)
all steering linkages, Hydraulic brake booster (used), Master cylinder, Repaired
spare tire mount and winch cable mechanism, Repaired oil fill tube and mount, within
the past year I have REPLACED, Front wheel bearings, front rotors, and brake
pads, rear drums with all hardware and mechanisms and brake shoes, Flushed and
bled entire brake system, egr valve, catalytic converter, muffler and pipe. The Not so Good = The paint (obviously from the pictures the hood and front
fenders need help). A small oil leak (not a drip but when I change the oil
there is some residue around the pan). The transmission slips a little when
cold but once it warms up its good to go. A small exhaust leak (muffler shop
would not warranty its work, small opening before cat). The ball joints clunk (ALL
ball joints are included in the auction!). The driver window sticks every once
in a while (just wait 15 seconds). Worn Idler control arm (causes front end
vibration at 70-75mph stops at 80pmh). The Extras!!! = New tires with less than 1,000 miles! (New valve stems and balancing). New extra fifth tire, Aftermarket alarm, Air Horns (also connected to alarm when triggered). K&N air filter, Yellow top optima battery, JVC detachable face cd radio receiver with front usb port, ipod interface and remote control. 1000 watt Audiopipe amp, Premium Scosche wire kit, Scosche farad 500k capacitor. 2 MTX 12” Bass box (woofers are beat up bad but still thump hard). 2000 continuous / 4000 peak watt power inverter wired independently from vehicle wiring system to prevent damage (using optima battery separate terminals). Custom made console/shelves to house inverter, amp, amp remote and capacitor. Used H.I.D kit removed from a Saturn View the same light set up High Low Beam 9005, 9006 (not installed). Heavy duty leaf springs (not installed). Upper, Lower, Left and Right ball joints (not installed). Extra lug nut covers (tend to disappear a lot). Extra Dash trim blank (original was drilled through for alarm warning light). New in box extra-long wide angled rearview mirror. New in box L.E.D. amp power fuses (x4). Factory radio and key fob and 4 keys 2 aftermarket fobs. Haynes repair manual, Class 3 hitch with wiring kit (only used once, I jumped the gun when I was offered a free boat and trailer but the offer fell through horribly). For the drive home a FULL Tank of gas ($100 value) Fresh Oil and Oil Filter changed at exactly 254,433 miles, and Brand New Front and Rear Anco Wiper Blades!!! Good Luck Bidding and please serious buyers only text me at 646-734-7386 with any questions you may have. Thank You. This vehicle is being SOLD AS IS, Even though this Astro Van has been cared for and maintained it does have 254,478 miles on it and other problems that I am not aware of can still arise with driver abuse and regular wear and tear. |

Looking back at the Citation IV concept that likely shaped the GM EV1
Wed, Aug 20 2014Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. We're not sure how that applies to the GM EV1, but we'd still like to share something from Autoline Daily, an online automotive new show with our friend John McElroy. He's been covering the business for decades now and recently found something interesting: pictures of the 1984 Chevrolet Citation IV concept, seen above. Displayed half a decade before the first electric concept that would become the EV1 (inset), McElroy says it's now clear that the elegant, aerodynamic EV1 took a lot of styling cues from the Citation IV, which was developed in part thanks to GM's new-at-the-time Aerodynamics Laboratory. We agree with him that the spats over the rear wheels, the flush glass, and the covered headlights all bear a certain kind of similarity between the two cars. That the colors almost match is a nice coincidence. The Impact (the concept version of the EV1) looked "frumpier," McElroy says, because it wasn't as long as the Citation. You can read a lot more about the Citation IV here and check out McElroy's thoughts in the video below. Find the Citation starting at around 3:45. This content is hosted by a third party. Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]
Tue, 19 Mar 2013This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...
GM recalls Chevy Express, GMC Savana over rollaway concern
Mon, 21 Jan 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall notice for a small number of General Motors fullsize vans due to possible rollaway concerns. On certain 2013 Chevrolet Express and 2013 GMC Savana models, it is possible to remove the key from the ignition without the shifter being in park.
Only 980 total units are being affected by this recall, and GM is fixing the issue by replacing the ignition cylinder and associated keys. Affected Chevy vans were built during most of November and December while its GMC counterpart was only built for a week in November. The recall goes into effect on January 23, and to find out if your vehicle applies to the recall, the GM and NHTSA contact numbers can be found on the official recall notice, which is posted below.
