1987 Rare 4x4 Straight Axle Astro Van 1 Of 12 Factory Ordered on 2040-cars
Conowingo, Maryland, United States
You are bidding on an extremely rare factory ordered 4x4 (straight axle) Astro Van. This van was originally ordered by Jack Demsey owner of Demsey Chevrolet in Ohio. The story is that when an Astro was ordered with 4x4 by Jack, the new van was shipped directly from GM to Quigley Motors who did the conversion. The van was then dropped shipped directly to the dealer. This was the only way that GM would honor the warranty. I was told by Quigley that there were only 12 Astros done this way from the factory and this one one of them. You can call Quigley and give them the vin number to verify. I absolutely love this van and hate to part with it but as a daily driver the time and attention it deserves as a true classic is more then I am able to keep up with. WARNING - this van turns heads where ever it goes. People stop me all the time asking where i got it and if its a straight axle. So if you are the winning bidder prepare yourself for all this attention and stopping to explain. I drive this van every day and even take it on vacation. It runs on the beach in the mud and snow with ease. When the GM rear went up years ago I replaced it with a 9" Posi rear so all 4 wheels are the same lug pattern (ford). I have a mountain of paperwork from Quigley and from maintenance and repairs over the years. Most recently - new fuel tank, new sending unit with pump, new AC compressor and condenser, R700 Transmission was rebuilt about 4 years ago, both heads were completely rebuilt about 3 years ago, just had both rear freeze plugs replaced last month, all rocker panels were replaced last year, new water pump last year, new power steering pump last year. Most of the problems with the van are not serious see the list above. The biggest problems shes having is RUST! I have been trying to keep up with the body rust. She is also developing frame rust that will soon need attention (see pictures). If you have any questions or need more photos feel free to ask.
NOTE: this auction does not include the fishing rods or rod holders inside and on the front in one of the photos. |

Chevy Sonic shreds like a skateboard
Tue, 19 Mar 2013Despite the fact that the 2013 Chevy Sonic is a fun, plucky little thing - especially in ever-so-slightly hotter RS guise - it is not, in fact, a skateboard. But don't tell that to rapper Theophilus London.
In General Motors' latest spot for the Chevrolet compact, London needs to make a quick run to the store for some milk. And even though, once again, the Sonic is not a skateboard, it ollies, pops and gets air because, you know, it's just so much fun to throw around.
If this video looks familiar to you, it's because this is the full ad that we first got a preview of in Chevy's longer, full-line spot, where the brand's "Find New Roads" tagline was introduced. Scroll down to see this dedicated Sonic spot, along with the older ad, and remember, the Sonic is still - still - not a skateboard.
GM opens military discount to 21M veterans and their spouses
Thu, Apr 7 2016May marks the start of National Military Appreciation Month, and General Motors is getting into the spirit by expanding its military discount program to, well, just about everyone. That includes a total of 21 million military veterans and their spouses, along with the current slate of active duty, reserve, and National Guard members. The discount can slash thousands of dollars off the price of a new Buick, Chevrolet, or GMC vehicles, with Automotive News listing an $1,100 discount on the top gas-powered version of the Malibu, the Premiere. Those that want a bit more spice can get $1,700 off the price of a last-generation 2015 Camaro SS, while truck buyers will enjoy $3,000 off the Chevy Silverado All Star. That's just a start, though, since the military discount can be paired with other GM incentives. The discount doesn't apply to everything, though. Some are understandable – none of Cadillac's vehicles are included in the deal, nor is the Corvette Z06. You'll also be unable to apply the discount to a range of base-level trims, like the Chevy Cruze or Equinox L, the base Colorado, or the entry level GMC Acadia, Canyon, and Terrain. A full list is available at GM's dedicated military discount website. GM's expanded discount plan runs from today through May 31. Outrageous Thor24 semi truck to appear in the new season of 'Jay Leno's Garage'
Tue, Apr 28 2020Wednesday is Jay Leno's birthday, and CNBC used the occasion to announce the upcoming season of Jay Leno's Garage. In a new teaser video, Leno is seen with a stacked list of guests, some new, some repeats, as well as a wild gamut of vehicles, including the absolutely insane 24-cylinder, 3,424-horsepower Thor24. The outrageous semi build, which sold at auction in Saudi Arabia earlier this year for a whopping $12 million (or $1 million per supercharger) will join the likes of the Tesla Cybertruck and a recliner on wheels on the upcoming season of Jay's series. Thor24 View 24 Photos The formula for Jay Leno's Garage is simple, successful, and not changing anytime soon. He brings out a bunch of famous people, some of which are real enthusiasts, others who have more casual driving backgrounds, and they experience a vehicle together. In the short clip released by CNBC, Leno is accompanied by Elon Musk (again), Danny Trejo, Bill Burr, Tim Allen, Jon Hamm, Brad Garrett, Jeff Dunham, Kelly Clarkson, Matt LeBlanc, Blake Shelton, Norm MacDonald, Edd China, and Jon Lovitz.      View this post on Instagram          Thank you for sharing your dream with us. Happy Birthday, Jay! Love always, your @cnbcprime Family. A post shared by Jay Leno's Garage (@jaylenosgarage) on Apr 28, 2020 at 8:27am PDT The people, however, are merely social lubricants to spotlight the real stars of the show, the cars. This season will include the Tesla Cybertruck, the record-breaking Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, a 1965 Buick Riviera, a naked cat car, an Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, a Porsche Taycan, a modern Ford GT, a Chevrolet Corvette C8 hard-top convertible, amphicars, a snail car, a beetle car, a couch car, and the 24-cylinder, 12-supercharger, 3,424-horsepower Thor24 semi. Just to name a few. As usual, there will be racing, stunts, spinouts, smoke from both tires and engines, and lots of silly dad jokes. Season 5 of Jay Leno's Garage debuts on CNBC on May 20 at 10 p.m. ET.
