1973 Mercury Marquis Brougham

"Goldie"

Washington State

This is one of those classics you could not get close to restoring to this condition even if you got one for free for the asking price.  Having been a garage queen since she was bought new off the showroom in Colorado at the Kumpf Dealership, you can expect a solid car with zero history of rust or any major issues.  You will not find many with this many options. She is loaded! I think she is a sun roof away from Fully loaded.

The gentleman that bought this car new was a mechanic by trade and owned a Chevron service station here in the NorthWest. Purchased new in Colorado, she was then trailored up here where she has been ever since. The car was passed down to the son 15 years ago and he has kept her active but the miles low. She has 124k original and I would have been way off with a guess. The interior is pretty baffling. I understand Mom was 5'1 and she did the driving in this one. Those days are gone.....Moms had the skills back then.

The interior is as flawless as a 5 year old car '73 Merc and it looks like she was rarely sat in. She is a fully functional except the drivers window has issues going up and down at times though the motor is working. With assistance it can be moved. The rest are working fine. The gauges work as do all the lights interior and exterior. The clock was repaired and works just needs fuse installed to keep the battery from draining over time.  THE HEADLIGHT LIDS WORK!

She is a driver and her 429 4V is original. She has oil changes way ahead of schedule during her very active years and always maintained. Her C6 tranny was rebuilt to handle towing and is 1000 miles from fresh. You can rely on her. The effort to keep her in excellent conditon is obvious and with a succesful mechanic at the wheel, you can expect a car like in the pictures.

The Paint is mostly original with a few scars that needed some stitches over the years. The Vinyl top is original and in very good overall condition. The chrome is excellent all the way around and the body is very solid and very straight.

Overall, this car is a low 2 at worst and can be depended on with confidence.

A KEEPER!
