1929 MODEL A SHAY ROADSTER REPRODUCTION

WHAT IS THIS CAR?Its a copy/replica of a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster. It was built by the Shay Company in agreement with Ford Motor Company and using new Ford Pinto drive train parts, Ford Dealerships also sold these cars. You can find tons of information about them on the internet, there is even a Shay club.

HOW DO I GET PARTS? No problem, just buy mechanical parts for a 1980 Ford Pinto and body parts for a 1929 Model A Ford.

DRIVE TRAIN: The drive train was supplied by Ford, its the same as used in a 1980 Pinto. The engine runs sweet, its a 2000 CC overhead valve inline 4 cyclinder. The engine has more power than a original Model A, but its sure no power house, you can usually drive at speed limit speeds. The transmission is a 4 speed manual that shifts good with no unwanted nosies. The rear-end is Pinto and has a good highway gearing with no growels or whines.

STEERING: Rach and pinion steering, the car drives great and steers easy.

BRAKES: Disc on front and drums in the rear, the car stops good.

LIGHTS: Headlights work, tail lights work, turn signals work, brake lights work.

GAUGES: The gas gauge works as well as the speedometer.

AHOOGA HORN WORKS! WIPERS WORK! RADIO WORKS!

WHEELS AND TIRES: Wheels paint is nice, chrome beauty rings look good, Firestone tires are very good.

CONVERTIBLE TOP: It is good, but not new and it does have a boot for when its down.

INTERIOR: Nice with no holes and no real wear that I see, the rumble seat is good.

CHROME: Decent, a few very minor pits and super minor dull places.

PAINT: Good, but not new and perfect. No cracks that I see, a few small chips, the hood is metal and the body fiber glass and the hood is faded lighter than the body. Very presentable paint!

BOTTOM LINE: I'm old and don't play the game like a used car dealer usually does. My price is $14,999, its no fun to play the bargain down game on the phone. If you want to play that game the show room dealers will play it with you. My car is just a good looking driver, its not a new car, its a good car at a fair price.

CAN I DRIVE THE CAR HOME? I never recommend driving a Classic Car home on a long trip. Reason being, I only do short test drives like a garage would, the cars are inventory not my personal car I have owned for years and learned to trust.
