If you are considering a Touareg or a SUV of this size you should consider this one.  When the vehicle is in engine mode it is a Supercharged V6...when not using the Engine it is in Hybrid mode.

I find that I am averaging around 35MPG on my commute to work, mostly highway miles.  When you're stop and go in a city at lower speeds the vehicle runs off of the battery.  The range on this vehicle is amazing, one fill up gets you more than 600 miles!
