    This is a Cool & Classy 50's Cruizer. This one combines a Bel Air Pedigree with functional & tasteful upgrades that make this an excellent driver. With a recent cosmetic restoration consisting of new paint & interior, this one shows very well too.

     

    A truly unique color on this car never ceases to amaze you. Changing from black to black cherry and then to a green bronze you get to look at a different car all the time. Mostly it tends to stay a black cherry, when the sun hits it the car literally explodes into color. In the sunset it will turn to bronze and in the twilight it appears black. The previous owner spent $8000 on the paint job. While not a show car, it does present well and gets a surprising, and sometimes mind numbing, amount of attention.


    The body on this '51 is in good, solid condition. The panels line up straight and the doors, hood and trunk all open & close properly. The floors & trunk look great with no visible rust on what appears to be the original sheet metal. The whole undercarriage was cleaned & undercoated for a very nice, clean look that will protect the car for many years to come. The trunk has been treated to the same coating. It could easily be upholstered or left as is. For show purposes flourescent glow lighting has been installed out of sight in the trunk with a hidden switch. The chrome & bright trim are in overall good condition. One of the grill bars has some chrome imperfections, please see pics.


    Inside the interior was professionally reupholstered and has seen very little use since. It is a nice & tidy job with crisp lines and a tight fit. The seats feel very comfortable without the normal sagging springs or lumpy cushions. The previous owner reported spending $4500 on the work. The Bel Air headliner is gorgeous with the chrome trimmed top bows. An aftermarket CD player with a fold down face works well with a pair of speakers nicely mounted in the rear package tray.

     

    To make this classic a safe & fun cruizer the factory suspension was replaced with a front clip from a 72 Nova. The Nova's Power Steering and Power Front Disc Brakes are a HUGE improvement over the factory '51 components. The conversion makes this a very nice driver with excellent highway manners. Truly comfortable at 70 mph and in stop n go traffic. The brakes stop this car straight, easily and confidently.

     

    Under the hood lives a 72 Nova 350 that has been upgraded with early 'Camel Hump' large valve cylinder heads for deeper breathing and better compression. Famous 'Ram Horn' exhaust manifolds, aluminum intake, 4 barrel carburetor and electronic ignition finish out the build. The transmission is a TH350 3 speed automatic. It shifts properly and is easily tough enough to handle the 350's power. The rear differential has been upgraded to a 3.08 10-Bolt. It is an excellent gear ratio for a light car like this and makes highway use a breeze with cruise rpm's of roughly 2200 at 70mph. With a nice smooth idle and a deep note to the exhaust this is car is easily tame enough for daily driver use or a weekend cruizer.

     

    The wheels are classic baby moons with the classic split of 15" front & 14" rear on radial tires 225 rear and 205 fronts.

    A HUGE aluminum radiator with dual electric fans keep the car cool in the warmest of days.

    The electrical system has been replaced with a 12 volt system. Now the system can support the big cooling fans, stereo system, powerful heater & electric wipers.
