1965 was a year of struggle and hope. It marked 100 years since the end of the Civil War, and President Lyndon B. Johnson had begun his second term. The Vietnam War was an overall underlining tone of the year. There were Civil Rights movements and anti-war demonstrations everywhere. The Beatles performed their first stadium concert at Shea Stadium in New York. Bob Dylan released his album Highway 61 Revisted, which featured the hit “Like a Rolling Stone”. Sandy Koufax pitched a perfect game against the Chicago Cubs. By the end of the year Charlie Brown Christmas aired as the first Peanuts television special, and St Louis, Missouri saw the now infamous Gateway Arch completed.

The 1965 Ford Econoline is part of the E-Series family. The E-Series began in 1961 and continues through present day 2010. The ungainly Econoline pickup was an economical workhorse. The 1965 Ford Econoline can trace its roots to the Volkswagen Type 2 Transporter. Ford answered the threat posed by Volkswagen with the compact Ford Falcon and used the Falcon frame to build the Ford version of the Transporter beginning in 1960. It was designed as a cab-over-engine model, similar to the large tractor-trailer big rids of the era. The 1965 Pickup could be ordered with the optional custom cab, which provided some car like amenities, including upgraded interior, headliner, color-keyed seat trim, and a locking glove-box door.

The model is an excellent truck for advertising, whether it is on a billboard or tailgating. It includes lap seat belts, bucket seats. NEW brakes, NEW wheel cylinders, NEW P195/75R14 tires. Rebuilt Master cylinder, NEW muffler. Lock gas cap. Spray in bed liner. It was stored INSIDE. Only 3 OWNERS. We believe the mileage to be accurate. The only damage would be three small cracks in the windshield as shown in pictures. These are far and few between. The only thing to regret about this find is passing up on it.
