If you've been dreaming about owning a vintage VW Super Beetle, your dream has come true--just in time for spring. I've owned this '73 convertible since 2000 and had it professionally maintained and garaged the whole time. I'm just not using it enough to justify my keeping it.

A Minnesota car since its arrival from, I suspect, Germany, it drives just as a vintage Bug should--that is to say, with more of a growl than a purr. The body is in good-to-great shape, a few dings here and there. It's been professionally repainted since I've owned it, the tires are less than 5 years old, and I've had my VW mechanic work on any engine trouble I've encountered: nothing unexpected, just periodic maintenance and replacements. If you're handy, you can do fix things yourself. I'm not, so I have a local expert to keep it shipshape.

Be advised: this car is 41 years old. It will never be a racecar or a daily-use vehicle. It thrives on trips around the lakes, cruising to DQ or Izzy's, and stints in parades and at vintage VW rallies. Yes, it does make it to 50 mph. And, yes, there are quirks: for instance, I have no idea about its actual mileage because the odometer has never worked while I've owned it, and I've never cared. That mileage number is what the odometer has read since I bought it. I've driven it no more than 300 miles each summer, so I've put on less than 5,000 miles total. I'm happy to disclose other "issues"; my price has been calibrated accordingly.

Serious offers, please: I'm happy to show it only if you're truly interested in buying, not browsing. This is my baby, and it's hard to let it go. But I'm hoping someone--like you--will love it as much as I have for the next years to come.
