This 1984 Mercedes-Benz 280GE LWG G Wagen has been my personal vehicle for the last three years. It features the well proven 2.8 liter inline 6 with automatic transmission, air conditioning, front and rear locking differentials with high and low range transfer case. All systems are in great working order. I have driven it daily during the summer months and have taken it on several very long road trips across the country for fun. It is the most reliable G Wagen you will find. I drove it from Indianapolis to Lake Tahoe, California and Yosemite National Park last year with many interesting stops and off road exploration side trips along the way. The total mileage accumulated during that run was almost 6,000 and the G didn't miss a beat. This unique 280GE was purchased by me in Sante Fe, New Mexico back in July of 2011 with about 121,000 miles on it and immediately driven home to suburban Indianapolis and it performed flawlessly on that maiden voyage. I have religiously serviced and maintained it and have kept a complete maintenance log containing receipts for all services performed since my first day of ownership. The mileage is now just over 151,000 total miles and I have a receipt from the previous owner which shows the engine was completely replaced with a new long block at about 101,000 miles back in 2001 with this work being carried out by an authorized Mercedes dealership. . I have never had to add any oil between oil changes and the G Wagen runs as strong today as it did the day I purchased it. All systems have been gone through and repaired or replaced where needed including the brakes, cooling system, electricals etc. I have spent and have receipts for over $18,000 in repairs, upgrades and improvements on this GWagen since I bought it in 2011. I have replaced the front and middle drive shafts with factory new parts over the course of my ownership to improve the natural tendency of these trucks to have minor driveline vibration. This G will cruise at 70 miles per hour all day long with ease and smoothness. It has an excellent set of Yokohama Geolander tires with only about 10,000 miles of wear on them. The G Wagen was imported and sold when new by Europa International the G Wagen specialist back in 1984. It comes with a complete set of shop manuals, owners manual, and lots of extra brochures etc. It has lots of service receipts from the previous owners in addition to the receipt for the replacement engine. The body is rust free and the paint has been touched up where needed over the years. It is not a show vehicle and does have a few minor nicks and scratches from normal use but nothing which jumps out at you. It is free from major dents or damaged areas. It does have a minor ding near the rear edge of the driver's door which I have tried to show in one of the photos. The overall condition of the vehicle is excellent with no major mechanical issues. . The interior is exceptionally clean with no rips or tears and the seats retaining their original German plaid cloth material which remains in great shape also. All gauges work well, The A/C blows cold and the only thing which has been upgraded on the interior is the addition of a new Alpine stereo with bluetoorth capability along with upgraded speakers front and rear. It has a quick release and removable 8,500 lbs rated Superwinch mounted to the original factory tow pin location on the front bumper. This can be removed via quick disconnect cables and the tow pin bracket provided by "GWagen Accessories". It is totally up to date on services and received a major service including valve adjustment, tune up etc at 150,000 miles. Most people are shocked to learn it is an '84 when they see it. This is a fabulous opportunity to obtain a well sorted out and completely reliable early G Wagen. I have gotten way too busy to enjoy it so It is being offered for sale to the highest bidder at no reserve so please...if you are a fan of these early rugged G Wagens don't miss it.
