Vehicle info

The storied Chevelle is one of those timeless designs that looks good no matter how it's built. Stock, modified, race, pro-touring, whatever; the clean lines and balanced stance on these tough classics create a confident swagger that's universally admired. That means, if you're looking to ride in style, you really can't go wrong with a Chevrolet A-Body. And when you factor in this Super Sport's impressive drivetrain, tastefully restored interior and first rate, all-American sheetmetal, you get the picturesque profile of an incredible muscle car!

Professionally restored and ready to hit the road, this handsome coupe was disassembled all the way down to its nuts and bolts. Under the car's Regal Red two-stage, an incredibly straight fuselage features solid panels that, with the exception of their recent massage, have led a quiet, drama-free existence. By the end of that massage, those panels featured better-than-factory alignment and, when opened and closed, sounded firm and functioned exceptionally well. And today, this glossy Chevy is one fantastic looking hot rod that parks just as well as it plays!

For 1965, the top-of-the-line Malibu SS utilized a classy appearance and unique trim pieces to distinguish itself from Chevrolet's working class 300 and mid-level Malibu offerings. At the front of this clean coupe, four halogen headlights and a black-trimmed grille center a small Chevrolet crest between fresh "CHEVROLET" header letters, a bright chrome bumper and clean, amber parking lamps. At the sides of the car, cross-flag "327" emblems and small "Malibu SS" scripts hint at an upscale personality while traditional door handles and a bowtie-branded mirror perfectly complement straight wheel lips and textured rocker guards. At the top of the car, a finned hood leads the eye to like-new glass that's traced in fresh stainless frames. And at the back of the car, a black-trimmed valence hangs a third "Malibu SS" script and second set of "CHEVROLET" header letters between new tail lights, a second chrome bumper and clear reverse lamps.

In the auto enthusiast world, there are few bigger faux pas than a car that promises performance but doesn't deliver. "It looks fast" just doesn't cut it with real car guys. So the old school V8 that powers this Chevelle has been balanced and blueprinted to 355 cubic inches of small block fury. At the top of that high octane monster, a blueprinted Holley 750 utilizes a polished air cleaner, polished fluid lines and a thin, reusable filter element to slide a perfect air/fuel mixture into an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. That intake, which is cinched to a polished thermostat housing, rides between polished valve covers and 68cc Air Flow Research heads that are fitted with aluminum Crane rocker arms. Those rockers make good use of modern MSD Blaster 2 ignition, which sequences spark through loomed plug wires. Between those wires, TRW flat top pistons and a Crane Fireball cam manifest stout 10 to 1 compression. Resultant combustion is jettisoned through big, aluminized pipes via long-tube Hedman Hedders. Cooling is provided by a lightweight, aluminum radiator that's tethered between a sleek Weiand water pump, two electric pushers and a big pulley fan. And charging comes courtesy of a polished alternator that, along with a Harrison AC compressor and Crane timing set, hangs behind attractive March pulleys. Visually, the handsome engine bay carries the same classy theme as the car's solid exterior. Satin Black fenders are perfectly complemented by black, hi temp block paint. And details like Fel-Pro gaskets, ARP fasteners, a Delco battery and Crane pushrods and lifters increase both performance and reliability.

Throw this Chevelle on a lift and you'll find rust-free floorpans that hang a seamless layer of Satin Black paint above a straight and solid chassis. That chassis rolls on a traditional double A-arm front and 4-link rear suspension, which mixes large-diameter sway bars and 2-inch raised springs with KYB shocks and polygraphite bushings. Behind the stout small block, a proven Muncie 4-speed twists a balanced driveshaft to a familiar GM 12-bolt that's fitted with an Auburn posi and Richmond 3.73s. Efficient turns and confident stops are the product of power-assisted discs and a Corvette steering box. Exhaust rumbles through big, aluminized tubes to an X-shaped crossover and throaty Flowmaster mufflers. Power flows through chrome American Racing Torq Thrust IIs, which spin 215/70R15 Goodyear Aquatread 3s. And all of the car's lines, hoses, brackets and fasteners, which were completely replaced at the time of restoration, display very little weathering.

Pop this A-Body's solid doors and you'll find a bright red interior that's comfortable and exceptionally clean. In the middle of that interior, thick bucket and bench seats are in excellent shape and show little to no signs of wear. In front of those seats, a Regal Red dash props an optional tachometer on factory telemetry and gorgeous chrome trim. At the base of that dash, like-new carpet centers thick rubber floor mats on a small chrome shifter and V-shaped console. At the sides of that carpet, 3-piece door panels hang bright handles and pliable armrests between pristine stainless trim, dent-free Fisher sills and color-keyed Chevrolet crests. In front of the driver, a Rosewood steering wheel spins satin silver spokes around a red, white and blue horn button. And behind the passengers, a fully restored trunk hides a fresh mat and full-size tire beneath fresh decklid decals.

The sale of this chic coupe includes:

An original window sticker
An original dealer invoice
An original owner's guide
An original owner protection plan
A specs sheet

Fully restored and professionally sorted, this top-of-the-line Chevelle is a first rate classic that's ready for years of shows and miles of cruising. With an incredible motor, lust-worthy body and super cool interior, it's the kind of car that can be enjoyed for generations. If you're in the market for some top notch muscle that'll win trophies and literally own the street, this Chevy is your ticket!
