But when the car needed something to keep it running and looking good...it got it!  For example, the current owner installed the following NEW components...   Timing Chain  Water Pump  Hoses  Electrical Connection Terminal  Brakes & Master Cylinder  Gas Line Tune-up items...including rare and NOS (New Old Stock) Blue Streak Coil and Points. The vast majority of the interior is simply "well-kept original" vs. "restored"...including the amazing dash and under-dash components, the instrument panel, and the leather sections of the seats.  New cloth, carpet and headliner in appropriate materials were installed.  The engine compartment appears almost totally original - with the nicest GM cowl-tag we've ever seen.  Virtually all of the factory graphics still appear...the air cleaner assembly is particularly amazing.  Though the car was painted...the colors are period-correct and really suit the car.  Overall...it looks as good - or better than.- many comprehensively restored cars...yet there is amazingly originality throughout. NUMBERS MATCHING...be sure to see the images at right of the engine block stamping which MATCHES the car's VIN...just as it should! GENERAL:  1950 marked the second year for the all-new Post-War GM bodies.  It was the first year for Pontiac to have the coveted "Hardtop Convertible" look...made popular by the dashing Cadillac Coupe de Ville, Buick Roadmaster, and Oldsmobile 98 coupes of 1949.  The Catalina Deluxe Hardtop - as offered in this listing -  was actually the top of the line model available in a variety of colors.  There was one Super Deluxe version...but it differed very little and was available only in one color combination...so its appeal was somewhat self-limiting. ATTENTION GETTER:  People of all ages and both genders stop cold and stare when they see this iconic beauty drive by.  What's so cool, is that you can pull aside a $100,000+ "anything" and it is THIS car (especially with the stupendously neat illuminated Indian Head hood ornament) that gets all the attention! IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE...the famed 268.2 cid straight-eight is strong and smooth.  The advanced Hydra-Matic automatic transmission shifted flawlessly.  In sum, this is a very impressive and sharp-looking coupe 64 years after its manufacture...you can imagine what a sensation it was to drive this when new.  In an era when many cars were rather plain...this Catalina was a very swanky statement of the owner's style. READY TO ENJOY...this car is ready for SHOWING or TOURING.  It would certainly place "First" in many local and regional shows. PLEASE BE SURE TO VIEW ALL 100+ IMAGES...as they will not only impress you with the car...they will also impart much important information.  Please note the undercarriage in particular.  It appears totally original.  The vast majority of the undercarriage appears solid...but we found one small hole in the floorpan, and a couple of holes in the underbody near the rocker panels...though the OUTER rocker panels seem quite solid.  The next owner may wish to depart from strict originality a bit, and remove the scale from the undercarriage via soda or bead blasting...do some patching as needed ...and then follow with a good coat of Bill Hirsch Miracle Paint or similar corrosion-arresting coating. INVESTMENT POTENTIAL:   Most serious collectors have not even SEEN a 1950 Pontiac.  Most of the best 1950s classics are unaffordable...many are deep in the 5 and even 6-digit price category.  This 1950 Catalina is one of the BEST investment opportunities left in that decade.  It is virtually guaranteed to increase dramatically in value. IMPORTANT FINAL REMARKS ...this car has current Georgia Registration.  Georgia does not issue ANY titles for ANY car produced prior to 1962!!!  The reason for this is that Georgia only began titling cars in 1962!  EVERY U.S. state must respect Georgia's DMV laws...so EVERY state will register this car for you...and at their option...some states may have a set of requirements by which it might be possible to generate a title in your state.  Ask your DMV if you have questions. In Georgia, legal transfer for ALL pre-1986 cars is accomplished via Bill of Sale.  A Notarized Bill of Sale and a copy of the (non-title) current registration will be provided to the buyer.  The 57,000 mileage is approximate, as the car is driven to local shows and events.
