The Corniche was Rolls Royce's coup'e and convertible version of the Silver Shadow produced between 1971 and 1996. The Corniche was named "Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Ward two door fixed head coup'e" (alternatively, drop head coup'e) from 1966 until 1971 when the Corniche name was applied. The exterior design was by John Polwhele Blatchley. The car was mildly reworked in the spring of 1977, and while it was not officially called Corniche II until 1988, Corniche’s built between 1977 and 1988 are usually also referred to as such. The major mechanical difference was rack-and-pinion steering. Alloy and rubber bumpers replaced earlier chrome ones. An aluminum radiator was substituted and an oil cooler was added, and a bi-level air conditioning system was added. The Series II was to undergo running changes through its long production run. The changes began with the quiet introduction of the modified rear independent suspension from the soon to be introduced Silver Spirit in March 1979. In March 1981, after the Silver Spirit had gone on sale, the Coup'e version of the Corniche and its Bentley sister were discontinued. For 1985 there were also cosmetic and interior changes. This particular 1984 Rolls Royce Corniche I has been painstakingly maintained in Texas where a prominent collector drove it on weekends. The paint is in great condition with minimal wear. The same goes for the bumpers and chrome grill. The rims and tires are also in great condition with about 90% left on the tire tread wear. The beautifully kept black convertible top goes up and down with no problems. Just a press of the button and the top comes down effortlessly. Inside the black Connolly leather hides are in perfect condition with no wear or rips. Same goes for the door panels and center console. This vehicle is equipped with every option including dual climate control Air Conditioning, 8 way power seats, premium sound, power windows and power convertible top. The black “Wilton wool” carpets are in great shape with no fading or tears that we have seen. All of the wood is in good condition throughout the interior. Under the hood boasts the Rolls Royce powerhouse 6.8 liter V8 making plenty of power to move this exquisite motorcar. Attached to the engine is a 4 speed automatic transmission that shifts perfectly. This vehicle has traveled on 28,537 pampered miles and is actual for the car. Inside the trunk the vehicle retains the original spare, tools and jack. The VIN is SCAZD42A2ECX08885 and is being sold on a clean Texas title. Buy with confidence, seldom does a Corniche I become available to the public in this cosmetic and mechanical condition.
