    This 1973 Volkswagen Beetle was recently donated to a local charity and is for sale on their behalf. Treated to a full "Cal Bug" customization back in the 1980's, it runs very well, but unfortunately looks very dated now.

     The paint is an awful shade of coral pink and has faded considerably. Even if it were flawless, you'd probably want to re-paint it. Keep in mind the door jambs, underhood, dashboard, wheels, bumpers, fan shroud and accessories are all painted this color as well, so if this isn't your color, your work is cut out for you. There is also small patch of rust beginning at the lower right corner of the windshield, so you might want to patch that while you're at the body shop. Custom touches include one piece windows, shaved door handles, recessed license plate, frenched 40 Ford tail lights, frenched antenna, and empi style wheels.

     Inside, the seats are from an anonymous japanese car, and the passenger side seems to be at a permanent recline. (it tilts forward but only locks in at a leisurely 140 degrees) The  headliner, carpets, and door panels are all custom and still in good condition. The back seat has been replaced with a full complement of speakers and a custom access panel to the battery area. The dashboard has a nice array of gauges, and there's a roller accelerator pedal and a Gene Berg shifter. (see photos) The windshield also has a circular crack on the passenger side.

     Mechanically it runs very well, and has a lot of power! Not sure how big internally this engine is, but even with a single carb and stock exhaust manifolds it really goes!


     A fun car to drive, but not to be seen in. No Reserve!

    Winning bidder must contact us within 24 hours of auction end, and make arrangements for payment at that time. A 25% deposit is due within 24 hours of end of auction. The remainder is due within 3 days of auction end. Payment can be made by Cash in person, Paypal, Bank Wire Transfer, Visa or Mastercard. Maximum amount payable by Paypal, Visa or Mastercard is $5K due to transaction charges. Out of state buyers will receive a California title in their name within two to three weeks after full payment is received. We invite bidders to come see and drive the vehicle at our location in Redwood City CA. prior to placing a bid Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle.
